What I mean by the question above is this. If you played "Crisis Core," you learn a little more about Aerith and Zack's relationship. We also know that after Zack died, Cloud's mind went haywire, and he ended up with Zack's memories mixed with his own. Aside from a false past, Cloud also ended up doing some of Zack's moves like the sword twirl and the squat exercise. When you look at all that, it makes you wonder, did Aerith like Cloud for Cloud, or because he reminded her of Zack? Also with Cloud having a bit of Zack in him, are the feelings of attraction Cloud's, or Zack's?
4/22/2016 #1 ReportI'm glad you brought it up. I've actually thought the same thing. Aerith's personality is much more compatible with Zack's. I think she liked Cloud because he reminded her of Zack. I'm not sure about him liking her. I never bought into the theory that he *actually* has any of Zack in him -- I think he just picked up the traits that he saw and stories Zack had told him. But I think the way she treated him fed into the persona he'd created, and that persona liked her. She adored him and needed him for protection.
As for just liking her as a person, I think Cloud actually did, even after he figured out who he really was. They had spent a lot of time together and she was a pretty likable person.
