Bringing Gundam Wing back.
A RedLion2

Do you think there is enough interest in GW to bring the storyline back? To further the story? I mean, what happened after Endless Waltz? Would you be willing to write to the creator and ask for a story continuation? I'm all for doing that. Forget Gundam Seed, or even G-Gundam, which I also like. I mean, Heero Yuy taking second to Kira or Domon? Parish the thought!!!

well, hell ya! i'm sure that most anyone who's a GW fan, even the smallest would love a continuation of Gundam Wing. They ought to do stories based off what we write about, you know? best plotline and all that. i've read some fics that would make GREAT continuations!! If not that, then, of course, they could always just continue it. The final story in Episode Zero would make a good continuation...or just Episode Zero itself as another OAV. So many many things to do...so unlikely it'll happen...

I don't think they should continue the story line. It's not that there isn't enough interest... but I don't think they should screw up something that is so good. I mean, look at Gundam Seed Destiny! Gundam Seed by itself was pretty good... but Destiny ruined it all. So my point is to stop while you're ahead. If you want to further the storyline, fanfictions or doujinshi's are great ^^;; That's just my opinion...

Well duh! They should SOOOO continue the story! They just left us hanging at the end of Endless Waltz. I mean, what's to come after all that? Is love supposed to blossom after the wars? Is another war to break out? What's going on? I'm in for writing to the creators of the show asking for a continuation too. I mean, G-Gundam? Gundam Seed? I watched Gundam Seed once and I didn't really like it. Aren't all these new Gundam series just knock-off's of the supposed best? That's what I've heard, but I'm not pointing fingers. I was looking at a website saying that Gundam Wing might even be brought back since it's one of the top five most important anime series ever. I certaintly am hoping they bring it back. It's too popular to just flat-out end.

At the end of one of the manga's (don't remember which one), the creator said that continuing the storyline was a possibility, especially if people wrote in and clamored for it. And I know that sometimes sequels can suck (except for the Star Wars saga), so maybe it should be left alone. But on the other hand, wouldn't we like to see if Heero and Relena make it together? And the Preventer Five storyline would be good, if they continued it. Thanks for your posts.

I would love to see mini series based off some people's fanfictions! It would be so awesome to watch it like how we read it! But then there's always that negative factor... will it turn out bad? Will the same voice actors agree to continue the show? and so forth. However, I have to agree with Redlion2--I do want to know what happened after the Preventer 5 storyline.

"wouldn't we like to see if Heero and Relena make it together?" Well, to tell the truth, preferably not. 8o)I mean, as it is now, not just 1xR, but any other pairing, isn't truly official, and so everyone can see what they like in GW without strange feelings like "...but that's kinda violating the plotline" - I, for sure, would have those feelings constantly because GW is almost sacred for me, yet I'm total 1x2 fan... And seeing as I'm not the only one, the GW fandom would somewhat fall apart, creating something like "GW- AU fandom" and frankly, do we want it to become that radical?^^ On the other hand, I must point out that continuation would propably create more fans. Maybe then, there'd be more than 6 fans total in Czech Republic 8oD But still, I donť think I'd like for GW to continue. Really, what's done is done, and the story of our five boys ended with Endless Waltz( at least for me, I don't know whether there was anything else; gettin' EW was hard enough in this anime-unfriendly country where I live 8o)) Let's just move on and cherish what we have, ne?;o)

I don't think Gundam Wing should be brought back for another swing, basically because the aftermath of Endless Waltz was a good enough conclusion for the series in and of itself. It made you wonder what they were going to do with their lives, though given the ending of the OVA and Movie version it was pretty clear what they had planned on doing with their lives in the big scheme of things. Live or maintain peace. The romance between the characters (excluding the obvious written attracted pairs via DuoxHilde - ZechsxNoin - UnexTreize (he's dead anyway) -) is nonexistent and is basically uninterpreted as platonic and close relationships. This something that is rarely shown in Anime - a genre that is riddled with Romance. Therefore to make a revival of Gundam Wing just to see if "Heero and Relena, and the others hookup" would be trivial and pointless. And even if they just focused on the war element of the series like they've pretty much done overall, it would probably end up being something like my stories "Questioning of Battles" and "Memories of the pas and Christmas" to a certain extent - without the original characters surrounding the original character Jin. In other words it would kill what made Gundam Wing such a great series. I hope Bandai never does this and should simply leave the "what if's" and "aftermath's" to the Gundam Wing Fanbase's imaginations.

Wow. Okay, you guys have made your points. I see why it would be hard for Bandai to bring GW back. And you're probably right, about wrecking a wonderful anime. And I mean, if the series did happen to go further, then what would we fans have to write about? Thank you for all the posts. I'm all for communicating with other GW fans, whether we all agree on things or not. Differing opinions are what makes this world go 'round. Well, and music. RL2

G-Gundam is the devil of all Gundam animes and should be blown off the face of the planet with a ten-ton nuclear bomb.... ...in my opinon.

From what I've gathered, one of the creators' main intentions was for viewers to be able to all give their own opinion on Gundam Wing. That's why they made everything so vague (not to be taken negatively, but you gotta admit half the show consists of your own reflections of it). This includes the romance. The creators aren't stupid; they know very well what happens when you put five bishounen together in an anime without confirming their romantic attraction towards their female counterparts. Fanfiction, doushounin (or whatever it's spelled #_#) fanart and so forth are a sign of succes, in this case. It's only natural that many fans are somewhat frustrated by the loose ends of the show, resulting in previously mentioned fan activities AND this kind of forum discussions. To go and make a sequel... it's tempting to want it, but on the other hand very scary. I loved Gundam Wing and Endless Waltz and Episode Zero immensely. It's all one really HAS to know about the story and its characters. The rest is up to the viewers' wonderfull imagination. To make a continuation would mean too great a risk of disappointment, to me. I know of a great anime series, Teknoman (originally Tekkaman Blade), which had me bawl my eyes out sometimes, in stiches other times, and on the edge of my seat all the way through. The sequel was, to put it bluntly, s***. What I WOULD like to see, however, is for the Episode Zero manga to be made into official episodes. It's a shame - no, a sin - that these events had to be scratched in favour of the compilation episodes 'The Locus of Victory and Defeat' and 'Shifting Destinies'. So much is left unexplained by this, we miss out on so much of the character's lives... The creators can't be blamed, as I understand there were difficulties with time limits and directors quitting their jobs midway, but now that they have that new Gundam SEED finished and all, it would be nice if they looked back on Gundam Wing and fixed this - watch out - injustice.

Yea, the whole point of Endless Waltz was to leave the story open-ended. I think its literally perfect how the authors didn't have to tell you what was gonna happen, ruining the hopes of people who had alternate ideas of what the authors did. It is this very open-endedness that keeps GW alive. If you finished the series out with a more definate ending, you would lose half the fanbase, break hearts, inspire wars, etc. Just....no.

I personally would like to see GW continue, but Endless Waltz cuts down that possibility. And trying to get extra epsiodes made, whether to continue the series or to show events that happened before hand, would be a fruitless venture. Why? Because the series has been out of circulation for much too long. I'm not talking animation-wise or anything like that. I mean, would the script writers do their job as well as they used to? Could the voice actors do the voices they used to do with as much as accuracy as before? Chances are they couldn't. I don't see more GW episodes happening.

Now, that's a good thought! but, there are hardly any gundam books/series in the Netherlands (sighs). On that area, we are very conservative... to bad.

Ditto what Flower on the Wind said... Well, to an extent anyway. But yeah, when I saw the bits of GS Destiny, I became ever so thankful that there wasn't more of Wing, because I'd be afraid that someone would force things to "be" a certain way in order to appease certain audiences. -___-;;; Personally, I think there are still places to take the storyline, but I would go with Blind Target and skip Endless Waltz. The plotline for BT was better, but had no Gundams. So it was relegated to a CANON radio drama and EW was animated. (model sales) If they went back and added to GW, I'd like to see BT animated. But I think I'd bail on the idea of adding more (in Japan) to the end of EW. I want a GW live-action movie...er, trilogy. :D

I'ts very questionable wether Sunrise will make another Gundam live action movie again. G-saviour is said to be a very bad creation. It never made it to cinemas in the Netherlands, never aired in the Netherlands and not even available in the Netherlands on DVD. It's hard to download it with bitcomet, harder with limewire. For now I've only been succesfull with Emule... BT animated is a good idea, I hope someday Sunrise will do that. Maybe they can do Episode 0 and Battlefield of Pacifists too ^_^

And I recently saw G-saviour. *everybody waits in awe* yep. It is bad, with a capital B. Lousy storyline, lousy plot, lousy action, lousy graphics (computer aided Gundams, like the toy blocks of your little brother) -.-; Hollywood must have forgotten that in Japan live people who are really great in computer graphics like the computer games for PS2, X-box and gamecube *wasn't that the same as X-box?* So. It's bad. If Sunrise ever tries to do this again, I do hope that they have better scriptwriters, better crew, better stuntsmen and certainly, better graphics! In other words: Larger Budget!

Sorry for joining so late in this discussion, but I honestly did not know fanfiction had forums until recently, and I have felt compelled to answer this. I personally would not mind if they brought GW back as long as it was well done, and the characters were still in character. However, I'd like to point out an observation of mine that could point in a plot direction should the creators bring it back. At the end of the series, Relena mentions having to get plans for the Mars Terraforming Project to various diplomats on Earth. At the end (of the english dub) of EW, Zechs and Noin had run off to start the Mars Terraforming Project, even though it had not officially started yet. I personally think that if the creators were to bring the show back, a likely place to begin would be while the terraforming of Mars is taking place. Oh, so many ethical, technological, politcal, and financial issues abound! That's just my humble opinion.

WOW yeah. Although- it can be kind of a double edged sword. I'm sure most of us have pretty fixed ideas about what we would like to see...imagine our chagrine if the characters DON'T take the paths we so like to imagine. However- I love Gundam wing. It's like everytime I watch it I notice something new and different! It's like a new adventure each time, and the characters never lose their ability to endear themselves to me!

Gundam Wing, unlike many other Gundam series has a HOARD of official storyline-extension like official manga! I recall a long while ago, maybe a year or so after Gundam Wing Endless Waltz that the makers were beginning production of a new series (which would have been a mini-series with only a few episodes) but they eventually stopped production due to funding issues as well as many of the artists going to work on other projects. ;____; It would have been nice.

I wouldn't necessarily like to see a continuation of Gundam Wing, but what would be really cool is if they remastered it. Because, let's face it, you could only do so much with the animation in 1995.

I'd love to see Gundam Wing redone to the animation level of say Gundam 00, but I think that attempting to continue it past Endless Waltz would be a mistake.

Heero Strife

I think that maybe a remake would look good, to see the wing zero (series not custom) with the latest animation would be greath...
