The forum is kind of dead so I'm going to try and jumpstart the forum. I want to clean it up by deleting the old topics and recreating them as wanted.
Is anyone opposed to my deleting of the topics (or even here to object anyway)?
Also, I will be joining in the RPing once again.

8/4/2009 . Edited 8/4/2009 #1 ReportI believe I suggested this to you already, but why not lock up and archive the old forum topics, in case anyone wants to read the old storylines? And, moving some of the OOC posts out of them, and maybe cleaning up the Submit Alchemists thread a little, getting rid of profiles of RPers that never started, and some of the "discussion" posts?
Just a thought.
Edit: I also think of the OOC topics could go, and we could have a single, OOC topic, perhaps pinned. Also, any RP topics with little or no posting in them could probably be removed.

8/4/2009 . Edited 8/4/2009 #2 ReportI'll lock a few key topics but I may delete them later. I'll also make a new OC submission topic and lock the old one.

8/4/2009 #3 ReportThe rp... is rebooting? Is it okay if I'm confused? So do I just post all my characters all over again and abandon my old topics?

11/9/2009 #6 ReportSo...I'm here. Kinda. I mean, YES TOTALLY HERE. And I come bearing BP and Robin and Leon and (Dual Spirit if needed) and Cal and the whole Johnstown gang. So. Yeah. I feel like I forgot someone...

    2/24/2010 #7 ReportThe Aurum twins, I think.
Welcome back to the RP forum, Miss Tolly. Are you in need of a synopsis?
 2/24/2010 #8 Report
2/24/2010 #8 ReportAh, yes, those two. Thank you. They're not pleased with me right now.
A synopsis would be excellent.
 2/24/2010 #9 Report
2/24/2010 #9 ReportThe RP is currently split into three threads, apparently treated as "parts" (if I'm reading this right).
Part I: The Massacre In Ishval — Details the events of the Ishbal Massacre through the lives of those serving, as well as those caught in the crossfire. Nothing much right now, except for a missing alchemist, a group of soldiers under fire, and an automail mechanic on her way to a court-martial for letting a suspicious vehicle slide through her camp.
(Part II:) Laboratory 5 — Implied, I believe, to take place between/during Ishval and the third thread, Central HQ Pt. 3. This is the thread with the least replies, and details that which went on in the infamous Lab 5.
Central HQ Pt. 3 — The most current thread, taking place during the springtime alchemy exams of the year in which Ed was made a State Alchemist. So far, we have an automail mechanic at a coffee shop giving directions to a Sergeant, an amateur earth alchemist with tattoos far too powerful for her to master, a cranky shopkeeper who is after said alchemist for stealing bread, and a general and his aide who nearly ran the alchemist over, only to have their car smashed accidentally by an alchemical reflex. The general now thinks the alchemist, who is only fifteen, and the shopkeeper, are some kind of terrorists out to kill him.
And that's pretty much it.

2/24/2010 . Edited 2/24/2010 #10 Report...pfft, none of the characters I have fit in that timeline. BP became a State Alchemist after Ed, Leon didn't join the military/leave Johnstown until after he married BP, and all the others aren't born yet. Wait...is Cal...Cal might be alive, but she hasn't even run away from home yet...she might not know how to walk yet either. So...yeah.
 2/24/2010 #11 Report
2/24/2010 #11 ReportThis all takes place in the mangaverse, so Cal could be alive (and possibly planning to run away), and you could have the Johnsons visiting Central. Or, if you're willing to alter timelines a little, have one of the older Johnsons serving in Ishval. You could always have the Aurums visiting Central at this time, too; maybe Tsage (how is that pronounced?) could be seeing if she could join the military at sixteen?
If all else fails, there's room for a part 4. If two (three?) RPs can go on at the same time, with no conflicts so far in timelines, a new topic wouldn't hurt.
 2/24/2010 . Edited 2/24/2010 #12 Report
    2/24/2010 . Edited 2/24/2010 #12 ReportHeh, I lied/forgot. Cal was born in 1904. She's...wait...What year are we in?
 2/24/2010 #13 Report
2/24/2010 #13 ReportShoot. Hm. That means we're in 1911, and she'd be seven. Would she have run away by then?
Also, to anyone else reading this, I think we should use this as the plot discussion thread.
 2/24/2010 #14 Report
    2/24/2010 #14 ReportNo, she wouldn't have been.
Er.
Wait.
This was the problem with having so many different timelines at once...gah...um, screw it, Tsage is an alchemist now.
 2/24/2010 #15 Report
2/24/2010 #15 ReportOh, pardon me — it now seems that I am the one messing up timelines. Ed was not certified until the autumn of 1911, so that means the storyline looks like this:
1908-1910 — Duration of the Massacre In Ishval RP. The Ishval rebellion has broken out.
Spring of 1911 — The time in which Central HQ Pt. 3 takes place. Ed is not yet certified — not until the beginning of October. Tsage is certified. (Is she still a teen genius?) Cal may or may not have run away from home by now. The conflict in Ishval is now over, roughly a year having passed since it ended.
October of 1911 — In which Ed gets his State certification. Tsage would have been a State Alchemist for six or seven months.

    2/24/2010 . Edited 2/24/2010 #16 Report...*sigh* I wish Lefae were here...she'd know exactly what was happening when.
I'm getting the impression that Tsage's time was post-Shamballa, Pre...er...Pre-BP's-wedding.
 2/24/2010 #17 Report
2/24/2010 #17 ReportDon't worry — I think I know where I'm going with this. :) Tsage's recruitment was, originally, post-anime, she retired pre-Shamballa, appeared again post-Shamballa, and returned to the RP fifteen years into the future. Her mother Margaret — who was implied to have been turned into a chimera — was the reason she left the military.
If this seems too confusing, it's really no problem if I start another topic. And, as said before, a family trip to Central, for whatever reason, wouldn't be too out of the Johnson's league, correct?
 2/24/2010 . Edited 2/24/2010 #18 Report
2/24/2010 . Edited 2/24/2010 #18 ReportYou, my friend, are amazing. Clarification complete!
So yeah, Tsage is currently training in Rush Valley if it's 1911. She should be joining up around 1913 or 1914...not sure which, but around there.
BP is totally available. Sure. She becomes an alchemist some time after Ed, so why not now? That or she's a chimneysweep still...either way, she's definitely in Central.
 2/24/2010 #19 Report
2/24/2010 #19 ReportThank you, Miss Tolly. I do try to be helpful, and I am glad I succeeded. :) To add, if BP has seniority over Ed in State Alchemist experience, then she could apply that to short jokes. This could set up several cans of worms, as what would happen if Ed happened to start screeching his head off when there was an enemy, searching for him and following the sound of his voice to his team?
If BP is going to be a chimneysweep, that works very well for my character Enid. Being a runaway, I can imagine her hiding on rooftops from police, and being an earth alchemist without control of her alchemy tattoos, would leave behind some very destructive calling cards if frightened. For example, when nearly run over by a car in Central HQ Pt. 3, her alchemy kicked in as a survival reflex, creating a stone wall for the car to crash into.
 2/24/2010 #20 Report
2/24/2010 #20 ReportPshaw, she doesn't have time to mess with Ed when she has such fun bothering Roy.
Hmmm, very interesting...BP is a rather skilled earth alchemist...*snaps fingers* It would work either way, actually...might work better if it's post-certification, because that way she won't be distracted from her studying (yes, she studies...at least for the written exam. Booksmarts were never her strong point), and she could be sent out to investigate the mysterious out-of-control-alchemist because of her background in chimneysweeping and earth alchemy. I like this. A first assignment...Roy would like it as well...gets her out of the way for a little bit...since she's a new alchemist, he's still not quite sure how to deal with her.
 2/24/2010 #21 Report
2/24/2010 #21 ReportI think it sounds like a good plan. As an added bonus, Roy could get "brownie points" for having Blackpowder capture Enid; the latter is wanted for questioning because of the aforementioned General's paranoia. This means that, because of all the military cutthroats looking to earn some status, Blackpowder could earn some very nasty attention from some of these officer blokes. Flyboy mentioned General Hakuro being a bit of a problem after Ishval; why not give him mention in the RP?
 2/25/2010 #22 Report
2/25/2010 #22 Report*nods* Sounds good. Starting out BP's career with a little negative attention from the higher-ups? Perfect! She won't have a chance to prove herself in battle for a little bit, so it'll be nice to have the military starting to regret accepting her.
Also...I just realized that both Tsage and BP were basically doing weapons development for the military...why did I not notice that before?! I could have forced them to work together more!
 2/25/2010 #23 Report
2/25/2010 #23 ReportAlso...I just realized that both Tsage and BP were basically doing weapons development for the military...why did I not notice that before?! I could have forced them to work together more!
On that subject, you could also use moral conflict to give readers a deeper showing of your characters' psychology. What would happen if BP was forced to work for a baddie like Hakuro, or one of the other morally ambiguous members of Bradley's circle? What would happen if Roy was forced to make BP do something she'd regret, like blow up a mine in a town similar to hers, or her own hometown? Alchemists are human weapons, and frankly, the Amestrian military has no qualms with treating the alchemists as such.
 2/25/2010 #24 Report
2/25/2010 #24 ReportShe joined the military to help people. She would demand a reason for any order that involves hurting/killing others, and if no sufficient reason was presented, she would walk away without looking back. For such a loose cannon, she has a really straight moral compass.
 2/25/2010 #25 Report
2/25/2010 #25 ReportAnd therein lies potential for conflict. She walks away while on the job, she's going to be labelled a deserter. All of the situations above are hypothetical, of course, and the RP will play out as it does, with anything that needs to be discussed discussed beforehand.
Feel free to leap in at any time. Central's currently quiet.

    2/25/2010 #26 ReportHehe, conflict.
Alrighty, I'll take a peek. -_-; Aaand I suppose I'll re-read my old BP stories to get back into character.
