Kotaro woke up one morning feeling very thirsty, but no mater how much juice or water he drank he still felt parched. The next day was like that and the next and the next. It went on for a two weeks until he felt so weak that he couldn't even get out of bed.

"Kotaro." Jirou called from the doorway, "It's time for you to get up. Even I don't sleep in this late."

"Can't..." Kotaro answered faintly.

Frowning, Jirou walked over and pulled the covers away from his charge and took a look at the young blond, who shivered in the absence of his blanket. Jirous's eyes went wide; Kotaro looked awful. He was sickly pale, his eyes were sunken, his cheeks flaccid and his eyes strangely – alarmingly – hollow... Almost blank. Jirou quickly scoop the boy up, calling for Mimiko. As soon as Kotaro was pressed against is brother he could hear the rushing of something liquid under his ear and he was so very, very thirsty.

"Damn." Jirou muttered, heading for the door, fearful of moving to fast least it put strain on Kotaro's weakened body, "She must be out side."

Kotaro followed the rushing sound filling his ears until his instincts told him that he had found a good spot to get at it and – opening his mouth wide – he bit down. Jirou staggered and fell to the floor. Normally a Vampire's bite felt incredibly good, but it seemed that Kotaro did not yet have that ability... Something Jirou found himself relieved to know. It would have been very awkward otherwise.

Mimiko was just bringing in the weekly order of blood to stick in the fridge when she heard a voice screaming her name from upstairs. Hurriedly shoving the box onto one of the kitchen counters – since just dropping it would have had it landing on her feet – she ran up the stairs to the upper level. Following the cries she burst into Kotaro's room... And found a fully grown, blond woman with a blood-soaked mouth and wearing Kotaro's far-to-small pyjamas as they begged her to get Joshua. Mimiko gave herself a swift kick out of her own shock and bolted through the hall and down the stairs, only to be jumping to the side half way down as Joshua raced past her, taking the stairs two at a time.

She would find out later that he had just gotten back from getting groceries when he heard the scream through his open front door. It had taken him a couple of moments to figure out what he was hearing.

She quickly followed the older man up the stairs and back to Kotaro's room. When she got there all Mimiko could do was stand in the doorway as the woman stood by helplessly while Joshua's hand glowed over Jirou's neck.

"Mimiko-san." Joshua said brusquely, "Get a blood packet. Now!"

Mimiko raced to do as he ordered, the woman following her. The Compromiser skidded into the kitchen, grabbed a handful of blood packets (not knowing how many Jirou was going to need) and raced back to Kotaro's room. In her hurry she didn't even notice that the woman was gone.
