MIB

This came to me as I was driving to the store. Before I did my shopping, I stopped and wrote the first draft on the back of my grocery list! :-)

The green-eyed brunette pushed her way out of Stark Tower through the revolving doors into the path of a middle aged man with thinning hair. Darcy stopped short when she spotted the SHIELD agent. "YOU! I remember you!"

"Fondly, I hope," Phil Coulson said mildly.

"You… you… iPod thief!"

"Not so fondly then," Coulson sighed.

People were streaming around them as they exited the building. Coulson stepped to one side. Darcy followed, even though she realized that she was being herded out of traffic.

Darcy responded by plastering a supercilious expression on her face as she looked him up and down. "You're one of THEM, aren't you?" she demanded rather than asked.

"One of whom?" Coulson asked. Darcy fondly imagined that she saw a faint expression of confusion on his face.

"An MIB," she answered.

Coulson looked down at his suit. "Last I checked, this color was described as 'blue,' not 'black.'"

"HA!" Darcy barked. "It's an almost clever disguise, but you can't fool me!"

Coulson's right eyebrow elevated slightly and he spoke in a challenging tone. "Almost clever?"

Darcy nodded. "You think that people won't realize that MIB can stand for Man in Blue as well as for Men in Black."

Coulson's right eyebrow subsided and his right cheek twitched slightly. Was he getting angry or was that a smile being suppressed?

Darcy continued, using Stark's technique of 'press all buttons until a reaction is obtained.' "Show me your neutralizer!" she demanded.

This time, Coulson's left eyebrow twitched. "What, again?" he asked.

Darcy stomped her foot and snapped. "You never showed me a neutralizer!"

A faint smile appeared on Coulson's face. "Yes, I did. You just don't remember."
