Chapter 24 : Retrieving the Location
"Here I come!"
Prometheus put his sword back to its scabbard, jumping back far enough from a group of Sniper Joes in front of him.
"Take... THIS!" the black-haired teen held out his hands forward, trails of light blue energy began to appear around his hands before two laser beams was executed from each of his palms, which instantly destroyed the Sniper Joes in front of him.
"Alright! More metal scraps for Wily weirdo!" Prometheus said with a grin, one fist pumped into the air. "Wow, I have gotten better handling my attacks! This is AWESOME! Your suggestion really works, Bla—!"
The black-haired teen suddenly stop himself, looking to his back uneasily.
There he saw Blastman, crouching down while observing some metal pieces from the Sniper Joes that the black-haired teen had defeated.
Prometheus scratches his head. Ever since their quest began, none of them speak to one another after Blastman's unusual way to speak back at the lab. Things seems to go more awkward between them as Blastman choose to stay quiet— even after the huge improvement Prometheus had made to his energy-manipulating 'skills'.
If this continues, things will surely won't end well... Prometheus thought in slight frustration. What's up with him, anyway? I need to ask—
"It seems your 'skills' have improved greatly, Prometheus."
The black-haired teen yelps in surprise at Blastman's sudden remark. Regaining his composure, the black-haired teen watched the orange robot got up to his feet before he whirled to face the teen.
"I can work longer thanks to you," Blastman uttered, giving the teen a small smile. "I have gained more complicated set of numbers from each of Dr. Wily's robots you defeated. If I manage to arrange them correctly with the ones I previously get by my own, then I believe we'll get the coördinates to get to Dr. Wily's base."
Blastman then walks to a big shady tree not far from them. He sat down, leaning against the tree's big trunk.
The orange robot then initiate a silent command to revert back to his civilian form— a blonde robot boy named Blast.
"We've make a lot of progress today. Do you mind if we take a break, Prometheus? I need to run the number-'arranging' program inside me to get the coördinates."
After a few seconds of silence, the confused Prometheus nods to Blast, walking to the tree and sat down beside the blonde robot boy.
Blast let out a light sigh, pulling out an E-Tank and opening it. But instead of drinking its contents, he only stared down at it, his fingers playing with the white straw of the blue can.
The sight made Prometheus felt something is wrong with the blonde robot boy. "Uh... Bla—"
"Here," Blast suddenly said, offering the black-haired teen a beverage can. "I bought this at the nearby store when we stopped walking for a moment at the city. I really have no idea what your favorites are, so I just pick up what's on my mind."
Prometheus first thought the blonde robot boy gave him an energy drink— since Blast always had E-Tanks with him, there are chances the blonde robot boy would think of an energy drink. But when he noticed an unusual traits a canned energy drink should had, the black-haired teen observes the beverage can more carefully.
His eyes widened slightly. "W-What the..." Prometheus stared at the beverage can in slight surprise, the bright orange color and a certain 'image' printed on it gave him an obvious answer of what the beverage can is. "I-Is that... canned orange juice?!"
"Yes, it is," Blast replied with a nod. "I actually want to bought you an energy drink, Prometheus. But when I saw this, I pick up and buy it before I knew it." He then sighs. "... My apologies."
"Eh, actually, I'm glad you bought this instead of an energy drink," Prometheus said, taking the canned orange juice from Blast's hand. "I'm not into them, really."
"So I'm actually choose right?" Blast sighs in relief. "Then I'm glad."
"Still..." Prometheus stared at the canned orange juice in his grasp in slight disbelief. "H-How did you get this?! Finding this drink is almost impossible these days!" the black-haired teen held out the canned drink in front of Blast.
"It is?" the blonde robot boy gave Prometheus a confused look. "I don't think so... Although, every time I go to a store," Blast pointed to the canned orange juice, "this drink is only one left."
"W-What?!" Prometheus brought the canned orange juice away from Blast, staring at it with his right eye twitched. "I can't believe it! Every time I went to a store, I've never found this!" With a humph, he added, "You're so lucky, Blast!"
Blast chuckled lightly at Prometheus' remark, watching the teen eagerly opening the canned orange juice and drank its content.
As the blonde robot boy looks away, he sighed heavily, his fingers playing with the white straw of the E-Tank again.
"... Am I really that lucky?"
Prometheus instantly stop drinking, looking at Blast in wonder. "... Huh?"
Blast gasps, turning his head to the teen beside him in surprise. "Y-You heard that?"
"Well, it's not like you're whispering— you say it out loud!" the black-haired teen said aloud, then huffed. "Blast, seriously, what is WRONG with you?!"
Blast's dark green eyes widened at Prometheus' sudden outburst, looking away from the teen. "N-... Nothing."
"What the— Oh, don't you DARE lie to me, Blast!" Prometheus slams his fist to the tree trunk, making some leaves fall as the blonde robot boy gasps. "If it's nothing, then you would have finished your E-Tank right now, NOT staring at it!"
Blast seems to hesitate at first, and was silent... But a moment later, he sighs aloud.
"Prometheus... You're very lucky," the blonde robot boy looks down, hiding his eyes out of view. "You were born as a human, whose life is about change— sometimes it's painful, sometimes it's beautiful. B-But me..."
Blast clenched his hands to fists at his lap. "Prometheus... I want to live a normal life. But..."
The scowl was gone from Prometheus' face, worry quickly filled his eyes. "B-... Blast? H-Hey... Can you tell me what's wrong?"
Blast just silent at the question, letting out a deep sigh instead after a few seconds passed by.
"N-... Not now," Blast said with a shook of his head, looking up to the confused black-haired teen. "... Maybe one day."
Prometheus stared at the blonde robot boy for a moment, completely puzzled. "I seriously had NO idea what on Earth is wrong with you..." the black-haired teen muttered, crossing his arms. "But fine. I will ask no more about this suuuuper confusing topic unless you start first. But there's a catch, Blast— random murmurs of yours about this counts as you want to talk about this." With a smirk, the teen added, "So be aware."
Blast blinked in surprise at the statement, staring at the black-haired teen for a moment before a small smile made its way to the robot's face.
"... Are you sure, Prometheus?" the blonde robot boy took a sip from his E-Tank. "I doubt that would happen. Human's hearing are not as sharp as robot's."
"Whoa, whoa. Don't underestimate me, Blast," Prometheus finished his orange juice in one large gulp, looking at the blonde robot boy with a smirk. "Roll said I have sharp eyes. I could just do the same with my ears!"
Blast just chuckled lightly at the remark, continuing to drink his E-Tank... Right at the time he finished it, the blonde robot boy blinks.
"Ugh... Not again..." Blast sighed aloud, seemingly annoyed.
"Huh?" Prometheus arched an eyebrow up. "What's wrong, Blast?"
"It's the coördinates, Prometheus," the blonde robot boy uttered. "It's still the same one... Looks like this wasn't enough. I have to collect more set of numbers then."
"Waaaait a sec... 'same'?!" the black-haired teen gawked. "H-How many times have you gone out already?! To fight these bots made by Wily weirdo...?"
"Hmm..." Blast put a hand under his chin. "If what we're doing right now counts..." the blonde robot boy began, "then I've gone out for eleven times in total."
"W-WHAT?!" Prometheus yelled in disbelief, standing straight up from the ground. "A-And you still going out for it? Y-You're TOTALLY kidding me!"
"Sadly, I'm not," Blast sighs, standing up as he added, "I'll transform now, Prometheus. I'm telling you this so you won't be surprised." With those words, the blonde robot boy initiate a silent command to revert back to his armored form— an orange robot who goes by the name Blastman.
Prometheus' right eye twitched. "Blast... Don't tell me you're going to search more bots made by that Wily weirdo."
"My apologies, Prometheus. But I will," the orange robot replied. "Megaman and Roll almost finished their mission in defeating the eight Robot Masters. So—"
"No. WAY!" Prometheus grabbed Blastman's right arm, looking at the orange robot with an annoyed look on his face. "Look, Blast. Everybody says the third time's the charm, but that doesn't happen to you— us, if you count me in! So why did you keep wasting your time to—!"
Before the black-haired teen could finish, suddenly, small trails of light blue energy began to surround his hand that held Blastman's right arm. The sight shocked the two.
"W-What the—?!" Prometheus exclaimed, but was abruptly cut off when all of a sudden, the light blue energy form a tornado around the two.
"W-What's going on...? Prometheus!" Blastman cried out, fierce wind began to blow from the tornado that trapped them.
"H-How should I know?!" the black-haired teen yelled through the fierce wind. "Crud... Just what the heck is wrong with my powers?!"
Both of them had no idea of the tornado made by light blue energy around them as they stood on their ground, feeling the wind getting stronger...
But suddenly, the fierce wind was gone as the tornado disappeared, only leaving some small trails of light blue energy that slowly dissipate.
"... I've got to admit," the black-haired teen shuddered slightly. "That... was creepy. What the heck happened just now?"
"I truly have no idea, Pro— Hmm?" Blastman looks around, looking curious... But when he turned his head to the right side, he seems surprised.
"... Prometheus?" the orange robot began, a hint of awe was within his voice. "It looks like your 'skills'... somehow manage to arrange the coördinates' numbers really well."
"Huh?" the black-haired teen said confusedly as he followed Blastman's gaze, "What do you mean by— ... Wow."
Both of them are currently atop a cliff, but the sight below them surprised them more.
It's a huge building that mainly painted with white and dark hue of different colors— though the most dominant one are violet. The building also had non-realistic skull designs everywhere, and there are many small robots with yellow helmet and humanoid robots colored green armed with white shield walking around the huge building, seemingly guarding it.
There is no need to go inside the huge building to know what's inside...
Especially with the big 'W' sign at the big skull banner placed on the top of the building.

Roll's eyes grew wide as saucers.
In horror, she saw her brother Megaman, on his knees and panting heavily.
What worse is, he was severely damaged.
Roll tried to speak— to shout her brother's name... But nothing came out from her voice box.
She then tried to move her legs— to run to her brother's side and see if he was okay... But yet she couldn't— as if something made her feet glued to make her stay on her spot.
Then slowly— but surely— a huge hand made out of energy colored black appeared out of nowhere. It floats in front of Megaman before moving around him, and that made Roll's core beat faster in dread...
The huge hand suddenly opened itself, seemingly ready to slam the beaten Megaman. This time, Roll's voice box decides to work, allowing her to utter out a loud gasp.
As Megaman weakly brought his head up, time seems to go slower as the huge hand moves down...
And that was the time Roll could finally scream her brother's name.
"M-MEGAMAAAAAAAAAN!"
~~~~0~~~~
Roll woke up with a start, bolting upright in whatever furnishings she laid on. She panted heavily, her blue eyes still wide in shock.
"W-...What was...t-that?" the blonde robot girl stammered between her panting, covering her eyes in fear as she remembered clearly the haunting image from her dream... She's not entirely sure it's a dream due to it feels so real, but she concludes that as soon as she woke up.
Not long after that, Roll heard a loud booming sound of doors being slammed, sounds of hurried footsteps marched in and stops once they got near her.
"ROLL!" a familiar male voice was heard— loud and sounds worried. "A-Are you alright...?"
Roll brought her hands away from her face, looking to the side in wonder. As she did so, she saw Dr. Light, a worried look could be seen on his face.
"D-...Dad...?" the blonde girl muttered in wonder. Why was Dr. Light here? She looks around, and found herself back home— at the main lab of 'Dr. Light's Laboratory', to be precise.
"Megaman was the first one to return," Dr. Light began to explain, as Roll's gaze fell back to the old doctor. "Thirty minutes have passed after that, but yet you didn't came. This prompts Megaman to go to your last known location, Roll, and it's a shock for me to see you unconscious in his arms! He said he found you lying at the top of debris!"
After hearing this, something snapped within Roll's mind. Unconscious? Slowly, she remembered her fight with a purple-haired robot girl that looks exactly like her back then.
But what exactly happened next? The blonde girl only remembered that she fall unconscious when she saw the evil look at her look-alike's face... But there are no debris when she lost her consciousness. So how...?
She then blinked in surprise. "Megaman brought me here...?" Roll uttered, trembling slightly. "Megaman— Rock... I-Is he okay, Dad? N-No severe damage or anything...?" Because really, she still wondering whether her dream is true or not.
Dr. Light looked at her in slight confusion. "He's...okay. He has no severe damage... Why do you ask, dear Roll?"
A sigh of relief escaped Roll's mouth. "T-Then it's just a dream... Thank goodness."
"Ah, I see..." Dr. Light said knowingly with a nod. "You must be dreaming when you're still unconscious... But I take it the dream is not a nice one?"
"Y-Yeah..." Roll replied with a low tone, lowering her head. The dream is not really happening, so she should be glad... But why she felt unsure instead?
At that moment, someone else entered the lab. Roll couldn't see who it was since her view to the main lab's double door is blocked by Dr. Light.
"D-Dad? How's—" a familiar young male voice came, but cutting himself off. Not long after, his voice was heard again— now loud and sounding happy.
And in that instant, Roll knew who it was— Rock.
"ROLL!" A pair of arms wrapped around the blonde girl, hugging her. "T-Thank goodness! I thought you wouldn't awaken!"
As the arms loosen up from her, Roll sat straight up again, finding her brother Rock there...looking crestfallen.
"I-I knew it..." The brunette boy muttered with a frown, lowering his head. "I-I should be the one taking on the new Robot Master... I-I should have not let you... B-But yet I did.
"R-Roll..." Rock brought his head up— on the verge of tears. "I-I'm sorry... I-I thought by giving you a chance, you'll prove me wrong of my fear... B-But turns out I was right."
Rock took one of Roll's hand into his, holding it gently. "Roll..." the brunette boy began, "do you still remember your promise?"
Roll blinked at the question. What promise...? It took her a while before it hit her like a ton of bricks.
A piece of memory flashed through her mind— a memory where she asked Rock— who was in his armored form back then— to let her be the part of his quest to stop Dr. Wily again after knowing she was installed with full-combat systems like him.
The memory then focused to the image of her on the verge of tears, shouting at her older brother to let her go this time, and that she promised to go back to her household job once all of this ends.
"From your face, I take it you remembered," Rock said, bringing Roll out from her deep thoughts. "Roll... With what happened to you right now, I would have not allowed you to go with me anymore, but..."
Rock sighs. "With the promise we made, I'm still allowing you to go... Because we haven't reach Dr. Wily," the brunette boy explained. "But after we stop Dr. Wily, Roll, then there would be NO more fighting for you. Do I make myself clear?"
Roll's eyes widened at how serious Rock say all those. It's obvious that he's really worried about her well-being...and that he actually wants to forbidden her to take part on this mission to stop Dr. Wily. But with the promise she made, there's nothing he can do but allow her to keep fighting until they really had stop Dr. Wily.
"C-... Crystal. Crystal clear, Rock," Roll finally answered, giving her older brother a reassure nod. At this, the brunette boy smiled sincerely.
"Thank you, Roll... For your understanding," Rock sighs in relief while closing his eyes, placing one hand over his chest, his light blue hoodie pulled slightly from him as he did so.
The calm moment was cut off when suddenly, sounds of multiple footsteps was heard from outside the main lab.
"Huh...?" Rock muttered in wonder, turning around to face the main lab's double door. Roll and Dr. Light also does the same as the footsteps got louder...
Suddenly, the double door slammed open, producing a loud echo that almost made Rock, Roll, and Dr. Light jumped in surprise.
But upon seeing who came, the shock on their faces quickly gone.
"Blast! Prometheus! You both finally back!" Dr. Light said happily, looking at the two with a smile before he noticed their...shocked expression?
"Dr. Thomas Light," Blast began to say. "W-We... We found it."
"F-Found what...?" Dr. Light asked, wondering what the two had discovered.
"The coördinates, Dr. Light!" Prometheus followed, bringing one fist up into the air. "We've found a way to reach that Wily weirdo's base!"
The news instantly made Dr. Light and his two children gasped in shock, eyes widened as saucers.
"A-Are you two serious?!" Roll cried out, looking at Prometheus and Blast in disbelief.
"So serious that even lies couldn't make their way in!" the black-haired teen answered with a grin. "I mean, the big 'W' sign at the big skull banner is a total giveaway of what the place really are! Right, Blast?"
"Yes," the blonde robot boy replied with a nod. "It all thanks to Prometheus, really. His 'skills' done a huge part for this."
"Really...?" Rock inquired in wonder, his bright green eyes focused at Prometheus.
"Uh... Maybe later, Rock," the black-haired teen said, scratching the back of his head. "Because, well, I myself still wonder how!"
Rock could only gave the teen a confused look after hearing that. "Uh... Okay. If you say so, Prometheus."
A short silence ensues between them until Roll clapped her hands together, making everyone's attention went to her.
"Well then!" the blonde robot girl said aloud, a wide smile on her face. "Shall we go then?"
"W-What the— Roll!" Rock turned to his sister, frowning slightly. "Don't be so hasty! Rest for a while!"
"Oh, I'm fine, Rock!" Roll brought a fist to her chest, winking. "I bet Dad has repaired the damage I had! One can of E-Tank and I'll be ready to go~!"
Rock glanced to Dr. Light, finding him nods his head, clarifying that Roll's statement just now was true.
"... Really now," Rock sighs as he shook his head, crossing his arms. "You really are different, Roll..."
Rock reached for the watch on his left wrist. "Then Roll," the brunette boy pushed the small button on his watch, making the numbers at the watch's small orange screen formed to writings that said 'SWITCH ON', "go grab some E-Tanks at the kitchen."
Rock's body engulfed by blue light. When the light died down, Rock has transformed to his armored form— Megaman.
"... Because we're going to Dr. Wily's base now."
- Meanwhile, in a fortress somewhere far away... -
"ASTROMAAAAAAAAAAN!"
Piano blinked as she turned her head to the side, finding Dr. Wily stomped around the room angrily.
"What the heck, old man?!" Bass exclaimed, looking annoyed. "I'm having my break time here, so don't be noisy!"
"Well, then do something, you two!" Dr. Wily pointed to Bass and Piano— who currently sitting across one another with a round table between them. Two cans of E-Tank could be seen atop the table— obviously drank by Bass and Piano each.
"Don't ask me to help you, old man. Me and Treble are having a break here," Bass said, pointing down— where Treble slept just beside his feet. "I don't want to wake him up just for some stupid pursuit. Why don't you ask this weirdo instead? She might know something," he added, pointing his thumb to Piano.
"Y-You useless robot! Seriously, WHY did I make you in the first place?!" Dr. Wily groaned, shifting his gaze to Piano. "... Well?"
Piano sighs, taking a sip of her E-Tank. "Astroman is playing the game Poké-Monsters XY on his new Ninteldo Trois-DS with a teenager at the main lab."
"P-P-Playing games?! B-But I have deactivated him back then! So ho—?!" the mad doctor roared, but suddenly stop. "... W-Wait a sec. A teenager?"
"My scanner said he's one of us. That's why I didn't attack him," Piano explained, putting her E-Tank down. "But really, Dad. Who is he?"
Upon receiving no reply, Piano looked up in wonder, finding Dr. Wily has gone.
"Really now," Bass suddenly spoke, making Piano's gaze focused on him. "Don't bother with that old man. He always rushed out of a room when he knew something."
"Then perhaps," Piano said, "Dad has the answer of his problem already? Not Astroman, I mean— it's about the teenager I mentioned to him."
"Maybe," Bass said lazily, resting his head on his right palm. "We'll see. Besides, a break time over than one hour is rare to have."
~~~~0~~~~
Dr. Wily sighs. "... Really now."
Astroman yelps as he hides his Trois-DS behind him, while a teenager with short brown hair— who's sitting beside the space-themed Robot Master— chuckles lightly at the sight of Dr. Wily.
"I'll take care of this," the teenager said to Astroman, turning his head to Dr. Wily.
"He's not deactivated completely— he's still awake when you put him back, Doctor," the brown-haired teenager began. "I feel bad for him— he's crying out of loneliness inside his stasis tube! That's why I put him out of his stasis tube and ask him to play games with me!"
"Well, you should have told me you are the one bringing him out!" Dr. Wily huffed, crossing his arms. "I thought he ran away and—!" A pause. "W-Wait a second. If you are the one bringing out Astroman, then the others are..."
"My doing too!" the teenager said with a grin. "Really, Doctor. You should look more carefully whether your robots are deactivated completely or not— I truly feel sorry for them that I let out those who still awake inside the stasis tubes!"
"Well, don't blame me," Dr. Wily sighs heavily. "Mind my age! Even I could forget about a few things, right?"
"Hehe, yeah. Whatever you say, Doctor," the brown-haired teenager chuckled, gesturing Astroman to not hide the Trois-DS he gave him and play again.
"Say..." Dr. Wily watches the teenager and Astroman continuing playing their Trois-DS. "Who else did you, umm, 'awaken'?"
"Not much. Just three," the brown-haired teenager said. "Quickman, Heatman, and Shadowman."
"They're three out of many that I have redesigned!" Dr. Wily gasped in surprise. "Where are they now?"
"Heatman wants to have a run around the base and asked Quickman for it. I'm pretty surprised he didn't reject Heatman's request— probably because of his puppy eyes when Quickman says no," the teenager explained with a light laugh. "As for Shadowman, he's patrolling around the base, watching out for some uninvited guests."
"As I expected from Shadowman— clever and always one step ahead," Dr. Wily said with a grin. "He has potential... It's decided— when he comes back, I'll promote him as my right-hand man!"
"I couldn't agree more," the brown-haired teenager grinned back. "He's one expert ninja, isn't he?"
Just after the conversation took place, suddenly, Shadowman appeared from Astroman's shadow, surprising the space-themed Robot Master.
"H-HWAAA! G-GHOST!" Astroman swung his hand to the 'ghost', which caught perfectly by the 'ghost'.
"Really now, Astroman... I'm not a ghost. It's me— Shadowman," the ninja-themed Robot Master uttered, coming out from Astroman's shadow as he stood up beside the space-themed Robot Master.
"S-S-Stop doing that, Shadowy!" Astroman whined, looking terrified. "Even Quicky isn't that scary! ...Heaty is an exception."
"S-Shadowy? T-That's embarrassing. Since when you gave us nicknames?" Shadowman said awkwardly, before noticing Dr. Wily not long after. "O-Oh, Master Wily! I-I'm sorry for not noticing you earlier!" He bowed quickly to the mad scientist.
"Now, now. It's alright, Shadowman," Dr. Wily said, gesturing the ninja-themed Robot Master to stand back up. The mad doctor was about to promote Shadowman— just as he planned before— when Shadowman spoke first.
"A-Anyway, Master Wily," the ninja-themed Robot Master muttered. "Megaman is here! He had defeated the front door's guards and just entered this base!"
"W-WHAT?!" Dr. Wily's eyes bulged out in shock. "H-How did he knew the location of my base?!"
"I-I still wondered about that too ever since Astroman mentioned to me that you only put set of numbers that leads to your base at the robots outside the stages of the eight Robot Masters you sent out," Shadowman pointed out. "But that doesn't matter now, right? Megaman also brought some help with him!"
"Ugh, really?" Dr. Wily groaned. "Last time, he's with Protoman and that troublesome Bass. Now who's with him?"
"Well, umm..." Shadowman seems confused. "There are three... One is Roll— Megaman's sister, the other is a new...orange-armored humanoid robot, and the other is...a human."
"S-Say what?!" Dr. Wily's jaw dropped. "H-H-HUMAN?!"
"Y-Yes. A teenager, to be exact," Shadowman continued. "But he's not an ordinary human, Master Wily... He got some...weird powers with him."
"An unorthodox human... He's one of a kind like me then," the brown-haired teenager switched off his Trois-DS as he stood up, looking at Dr. Wily.
"Doctor," the brown-haired teenager called with a grin. "Let me go greet them."
The brown-haired teen then raised his right arm— glimmering in the low light, looking at it with a grin.
"Now is the perfect time for me to return the favor, Doctor..."
All eight Robot Masters are defeated! The coördinates are founded! Now all that's left is Dr. Wily! But just who's this teenager calling Dr. Wily as 'Doctor', and what does he meant by 'return the favor'...?
All will be revealed...if you all stay tuned for the next Chapter~! ;D
Anyhoo... I'm apologize if the part Prometheus speak about canned orange juice is confusing you all. Because, well... Canned orange juice is kinda rare to found here at local stores in Indonesia (except at the stores that sell some import stuffs). The ones at local stores mostly packed in a carton box.
