Title: Metaphors and Other Matters
Summary: Alfred's food metaphors are always ridiculous. Luckily, Natalia understands them. America/Belarus.
Notes: Prompt fic – 300 words, "cookies and sex." This is closest I will ever get to writing sex, and it's only because it's a prompt I need to do. I am a very asexual person.
"It's like cookies," Alfred says earnestly, struck by the idea.
Nestled comfortably by his side, the silver-haired girl sighs, and he gets the feeling that he's being mocked by that musical breath. But that's okay. He's too content to care.
"I'm serious," he continues, gazing intently up at the ceiling, because it's a valid idea if she'll just give him a few seconds to work it out. "Cookies. Like, chocolate chip cookies, maybe. The really chocolate-y ones. Because they're all warm and delicious and…"
He stops when he hears a laugh and glances down in wonder. The girl from whom he has to coax out even a smile is laughing at him - a small, breathless chuckle, and she curls into him more closely, pale violet-blue eyes darting up to lock with his bright ones. "Must everything be related to food?" Natalia asks him.
"Yep," he tells her.
She gives a little shake of her head. "You are the only person who would relate cookies to sex."
"But it makes sense, right?" he insists. "I mean, not in a literal way, but more in a 'yeah, the experience is like, super nice' kind of way… y'know?" It makes perfect sense to him, but Alfred's learned that very few people have the same sort of wiring in their brains.
"You are also the only person who would care if it made sense or not." Another chuckle, as if she's highly amused by him. The reaction is pretty amazing, but maybe it's just the atmosphere of the night.
Alfred offers her a grin and teasingly flicks her nose. "Want to find out if it does?" he suggests.
He's duly and delightedly impressed. Maybe their mental wiring is the same, because whether it makes sense or not, she seems to understand perfectly.
