Bonus Chapter: Isenstadt Operational Data
Here's the long-awaited list of data from Wolfenstein 2009, courtesy of the Wolfenstein wiki. Half of it, anyway. Now the Wolfenstein series is continued by Swedish developer MachineGames, founded by original Starbreeze Studios staff and published by Bethseda. The people behind Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay and The Darkness, they created one of the best FPS experiences in 2014, Wolfenstein: The New Order, combining old- and new-school shooting with an engaging story, something they excel at as evidenced by their previous works, followed by The Old Blood. Now their at again in The New Colossus. My tip my hats to you, oh Machine Games.
Here this chapter is set in the alternate timeline set by The New Order, where the Nazis win.

Brooklyn, 1951, five years after the Nazi occupation began in America
Resistance cell hideout
It had been five years. Five years since we lost. Five years after the surrender, after the Nazi bastard blew up New York. The streets where vitality and freedom once reigned now stank of defeatism and oppression. Nazi troopers police this parts to enforce their terror in the new order. People snatched out of their beds, people shut in the streets. Tears and wails; breadlines; checkpoints are a daily reality. Strangling us until we are nothing but lowly serfs.
Yet some of us won't accept defeat. Won't accept their brutality in our lives. Where our leaders ran we carried out the fight.
We, the Resistance, fighting against another oppressor just as our forefathers had done more than a hundred and fifty years ago.
We stole some documents from a Nazi-controlled archive, its classification beyond top-secret. What inside as we sit in a dank basement in Brooklyn, always on the lookout for the Nazis? Some important for Allied High Command in Lagos, British Nigeria.
"Deciphered message," reported out radio operator. "Lagos approves transfer of documents. You'll be taking it to the extraction point tonight."
I nodded wearily. My ticket has been punched. I gripped the documents with me hidden in the false bottom of my valise. If these files can turn the tide of the war, I'll guard it with my life. A vial of gasoline rigged to be bottom if tampered with. A cyanide pill for me so my secrets go straight to the grave.
Isenstadt Garrison Dispatches:
Isenstadt Train Station
Spec Ops Train
To: Captain Baum
From: General Zetta
The cargo the Special Operations train carries must be protected at all costs. I want your best security detail present as well as a doubling of the guards at all checkpoints. You are also to deploy additional heavy weapon emplacements. Make no mistakes - more than your career will end if any equipment onboard that train is damaged.
Visiting Dignitary
To: All Security Detachments
From: SS Special Projects Administrator Franz Nussbaum
In the next few days a very important dignitary from Berlin will be arriving for an inspection tour. He is to be allowed full access to every base and experimental facility in the town. Should any harm befall this dignitary, all those charged with his protection will be tried, convicted and summarily executed.
Love Letter
Dearest Wolfgang,
It's been far too long since we last met. I realize you married that woman for her family's connections, but do you really need her anymore? Imagine how happy we'd be if we didn't have to keep our romance a secret. I'm looking forward to meeting you in Isenstadt.
Yours forever,
Brigitte
PS: I recently purchased some clothing from France ...
To: All Dock Workers
From: Dock Master Gernot Krause
I was just told that a growing amount of munitions are lost while being moved from the train cars to the trucks bound for military bases. This is most likely the work of the Black Market. Additional guards are being posted, but I would ask you all to be on the look out for any suspicious characters.
Damaged Equipment
To: Mr. Gernot Krause
From: Project Nachtsonne Administrator Dr. Franz Fiedler
A shipment of very delicate equipment arrived at our laboratory yesterday in disrepair. It was damaged because it was improperly secured for transportation. In the future, make certain your men treat shipments to Project Nachtsonne with the utmost care.

Excavation Site of Thulian underground complex outside of Isenstadt
Dig Report
To: Special Projects Committee
From: Dr. Bohren
This dig has barely scratched the surface of the entire site, but what little I've seen indicates that the Thule were an amazing people. Their culture was one of great technological and spiritual advancement. I'm quite certain they migrated here, but it's a mystery as to why they left ... I suspect it had to do with a disaster of some type.
Interrogation
To: General Zetta
From: Captain Gudenreich
Interrogation of the young Russian has proven fruitless so far. He is much stronger than I had anticipated. But I suspect he knows a great deal about this dig site; perhaps he might even be able to solve the mystery of the crystal. I've sent for a Scribe - once he arrives I'm sure the Russian will tell us everything we want to know.
Second Medallion
To: Dr. Bohren
From: General Zetta
I should never have allowed General Shosshund to take the first Thule Medallion from Isenstadt, but I was being pressured by Berlin. Why that fool Shosshund chose to take a side trip aboard the ill-fated Tirpitz will always be a mystery to me. But make no mistake, there is a second medallion at this dig site and you will find it ... or you will suffer my wrath.
Crystal Trap
To: General Zetta
From: Dr. Bohren
Sir, I'm sorry to report that all attempts to acquire the crystal have failed - and that 14 people have died in the process. The Thule were very cunning in creating the trap, but I'm certain we will figure out a way to overcome it. I realize the crystal is of utmost importance to you, so rest assured that you will have it soon, even if it takes 100 more lives.
Dismantling
To: Dr. Blavatsky
From: General Zetta
Doctor, I don't need to remind you how important the Thule device is to my research. I demand that your excavation team take the utmost care in dismantling it. And I would recommend you take very thorough notes so that it can be reassembled at the new location. Any failure will meet with very unpleasant results.
Medallion News
To: General Zetta
From: Captain Gudenreich
It took longer than expected, but the Scribe was finally able to wring the truth from the young Russian. His name is Sergei Kovlov and he's a member of a group called the Golden Dawn. He didn't tell us what the group did, but eventually he will. More importantly, he did tell us how to get the second Thule Medallion. The next time I report, I'll be handing you the item you have sought for so long.
Warehouse, Westside Commercial District
Warehouse Warning
Achtung. Security has been increased due to rise in thefts of ammunition, weaponry and medical supplies by members of the resistance. Any trespassers in this warehouse will be shot on sight.
Experimental Equipment
From: Captain Trommler
To: Squad Commanders
The experimental equipment that arrived from Berlin yesterday has been taken to the Castle as per the orders of General Zetta. Squad patrols can return to the normal security status - but checkpoints are to remain fully staffed at all times. Checkpoints will remain at heightened security until we capture those who are responsible for selling weapons to the resistance.
Drinking on Duty
ATTENTION: Warehouse guards are restricted from drinking at the Raven's Nest tavern while on duty. Be warned: dereliction of duty and inebriation while on patrol are punishable by death.
Officer's Billet, Upscale residential district
Theft of the Remaining Medallion
To: General Statz
From: Captain Waechter
Sir,
Unfortunately the Scribe who interrogated the Golden Dawn agent at the SS Base has verified our worst fear; whoever rescued the young Golden Dawn agent from the Dig Site also took the remaining Thule Medallion. I trust you will explain the situation to General Zetta making certain to mention that Captain Mueller was on duty at the time.
Escaped Prisoner
To: General Statz
From: Captain Waechter
Sir,
I regret to inform you that the young Golden Dawn agent we captured at the Dig Site was released by insurgent forces during a raid. The guards responsible for the lack of security have been dealt with severely as an example to others. Rest assured all available men have been directed toward recapturing the agent as well as discovering who was behind the daring rescue.
The Original Thule Medallion
To: General Statz
From: General Zetta
The Tirpitz was sunk off the coast of England before it could carry out its mission and destroy London with a missile attack. Unfortunately the original Thule Medallion was lost as well. Manuscripts tell of a second medallion at the digsite - every effort must be made to locate this artifact. My research into the Veil will be severely hampered without it.
Isenstadt Cathedral
Defend the Church
All Forward Firing Positions:
Intelligence has indicated that the resistance will attempt to attack as soon as the experiment at the Church is activated. It is imperative that the Kreisau Circle fail. Once the experiment has been successfully tested, all the world will see that a new day is dawning and the tide of war has turned in our favor.
Heavy Troopers
To: Church Security Officers
From: Central Command
Central Command has ordered that Heavy Troopers be deployed as patrols along the roadway leading to the Church. Beyond supporting our base troops with heavy firepower, this will test how viable the Heavy Trooper is as a mobile weapon system. There are concerns about serious malfunctions of the shoulder venting system, but we trust this is a minor issue which will be worked out in time.
Caution During Mortar Fire
WARNING: The enemy is directing heavy mortar fire against the Church. Take all precautions for movement through the streets. Wear a helmet at all times and stay near solid supports whenever possible.
Klienerhoff Farm, outskirts of Isenstadt
Rail Line Complete
To: Captain Kroner
From: Foreman Max Greiner
I am proud to report that the underground rail line to the Cannery will be completed next week. You can expect the first shipment of crystals soon, although our experiments are still in progress.
Improve Security
To: Captain Kroner
From: General Zetta
Captain Kroner,
During the recent tour of your facility, I found security to be severely lacking. Effective immediately, guard patrols are to be doubled and the primary doorway into the underground facility is to be reinforced against direct attack. If these measures are not implemented promptly, I will appoint an Operations Officer who can carry out my orders in a more timely fashion.
Shortage of 88 Shells
To: Artillery Squad
From: Captain Kroner
Due to a misrouted shipment, there is a shortage of shells for the 88. Because of this, artillery munitions will be stored in the underground munitions bunker until further notice.
Manmade Crystals
Manmade Crystals
By Dr. Rudolf Schiller
While initial experiments had shown promise, we are quickly coming to realize how difficult it is to artificially create Nachtsonne crystals. Because of the accelerated growth rate, their lattice structures are quite often misaligned causing a high percentage of them to be useless. But we have overcome that difficulty by growing a large number of crystals and using the Blutschleicher to locate the purest ones.
Black Marketeers' Log:
Note to Anton Kriege
Anton,
I think Captain Trommler is beginning to suspect me ... but tell your brother Stephan I will honor our agreement. The shipment of ammunition will be waiting for you at the appointed location. Payment had better be prompt.
Weapons and ordnance development data
Kar98 Blueprint with upgrades
The Karabiner 98 rifle, the standard service weapon of the Wehrmacht, is the latest incarnation of the Mauser rifle who were used since 1871, although not directly as the Kar98 was derived directly from the bigger Gewehr 98, standard weapon of the Imperial German Army during the First World War or Great War as it was previously called. The blue prints here indicate that the Germans were planning to upgrade this rifle to increase its efficiency and thus its service life:
Muzzle Compensator and improved rifling to increase accuracy; suppressor for silent operations; sniper scopes for sharpshooters; and a "Big Bore" caliber upgrade to a militarized variant of the 9×57mm Mauser cartridge with Spitzer slugs instead of the rounded nose of the hunting cartridges though experiments with 9.3×62mm Mauser, 9.3×64mm Brenneke, and 9.3×74mmR have been carried out. These make for powerful ammunition for the standard rifle, packing more punch than the 7.92mm currently used. It's believed that only the 9x57 S Patrone was ultimately chosen as an optional upgrade though 9.3×62mm have been chosen and provided to divisional armories at the front. Of limited use due to logistical issues, notably with the machineguns such as MG42 and MG34.
MP40 Blueprint with upgrades
The MP40, this German weapon is the standard sub machinegun of the Third Reich, finding its way in the hands of frontline and rear area troops as well as rarely in the hands of military and police of puppet and client states. A generally reliable weapon of mostly stamped sheet metal and plastic construction, its design went back before the war, entering full service as the MP38 though its milled-steel construction was expensive in both time and material. The schematics indicate the Germans are once again extending the weapon's applications:
Recoil compensator for accurate fire; a suppressor for special operations; drum magazine to increase firepower via carrying twice the capacity of the stick magazines (32) based Trommel-Magazin 08 used in the First World War; and better rifling. Interestingly the last is a 9mm Mauser "big bore" upgrade though can hardly be called at that, seeing the 9x25 Mauser, aka Export, is related to the 9x19 Parabellum cartridge it's replacing. They are however, of completely different origins, the Parabellum originating from the 7.65×21mm Parabellum round and was designed for the Lugar, whereas the Export came from 7.63×25mm Mauser, was chambered for the Mauser C96, the cartidge derived its "Export" name from the fact it was design for markets in South America, Africa, and Asia. the 9mm Mauser gives the Mp40 superior stopping power and slight edge in penetration but that means the gun has to be reconstructed internally, from simple blowback to delayed-blowback, derived from the Italian Beretta OVP, used back in 1918. The use of this cartidge however was by no means unique as the Steyr MP34, also in German service, and the Hungarian Danuvia 43M were also chambered on those rounds, it's believed that the MP40 upgrade was inspired by seeing Danuvia-armed Hungarian troops in action against the Red Army.
This upgrade was highly appreciated by frontline troops but wartime industry suffering at the hands of Allied bombings meant nopurpose-built variants were made, only kits were issued to divisional and regimental armories and not all are available due to the cost per unit of the kits.
MP43 Blueprint with upgrades
The MP43, a weapon of the future. Combining the firepower and compactness of an SMG and the punch of a rifle, this weapon is one of the Reich's finest creations. Firing the shortened version of the standard 7.92mm ammunition at 600 rounds per minute, the MP43 gives the individual rifleman a versatile weapon of war whether in the close confines of a village cabin or the vast steppes of Russia. There has been rumors that it took a lot of political maneuvering to get this weapon into production. The upgrades made available for it are improved rifling for better accuracy; a 60-round drum magazine; tactical scope and recoil compensator. The "big bore" is nothing more than a lengthening the bullet from 33mm to 45mm to extract a bigger punch.
Mdl. 24 Blueprint
The Stielhandgranate (stick hand grenade), standard grenade of the German Army since 1915. Not much can be said, being that it's ubiquitous in the Wehrmacht. The only improvements are fragmentation ring for shrapnel and a more potent Nachtsonne crystal-based explosive powder.
Plasma Weapon Blueprint
The Partikelkanone was one of first weapons to be developed based on our research of the Veil. The device works by shooting out a high-energy beam of atomic or subatomic particles to damage the target by disrupting its atomic and/or molecular structure. Anything in front of it disintegrates into nothing. The particle cannon is fed with batteries to power it up. Critical material used is based on Nachtsonne crystal. It can fire either a ball of energy in long-ranged combat or a steady stream for close quarters.
This is the standard weapon for Heavy Troops, heavily-armored infantry equipped with a special packs that not only recharge the cannons but also negate the use of the Thule Medallion. The Germans developed several upgrades for this weapon: Particle Lens (Partikellinse) for longer ranged engagements; Veil Catalyst (Schleierkatalysator) to decrease charge time; Beam Intensifier (Strahlverstärker) to increase its damage potential and Flux Arc (Flussbogen) to arc beams against opponents like a flamethrower. This a truly terrifying weapon.
Flammenwerfer Blueprint with upgrades
The Flamethrower, derived directly from its original German name, came into being during the Great War. The Germans created it in an effort to provide their infantry with a weapon that can clear trenches of Allied troops. This one is the most advance variant yet. It fires Nachtsonne-based fuel which burns hotter than gasoline or even napalm. Enemies are not burned to ashes but literally melt! This is the standard weapon of specialized flame infantry called the Drache Truppen. Upgrades for this weapon are an advanced fuel pump, a larger yet more ergonomic tank, a carburetor for mixing air with the fuel for greater lethality; and a pump control valve that can increase range on maximum settings.
Excavation Research Data
Dig Site Documents # 1
The Thule have left behind evidence of material culture such as ruins and artifacts. Yet they would have been an obscure mystery had their been ways to pass down even hints of their knowledge. Art and architecture was quite unique to most known varieties seen in the ancient world. This is the greatest proof that we, the Germans, have descended from .At the moment we are but pale imitations but once we unlock their knowledge with would become their heirs.
Dig Site Documents # 2
There is no doubt that the Thule are a mystical people. The symbolism in their ruins has shown they are devoted to the study of the supernatural. Much of their presence was obscure, found only in lore dealing with the mystical. The Church once sought to suppress such knowledge after failure of Henry the Fowler, whom our glorious Reichfuhrer-SS, Heinrich Himmler, claims as a reincarnation, to wrest power of from the Charlemagne.
Veil Device Schematic
The Veil Device, or better known as the Thule Medallion. This mystical artifact allowed the Thule to to pierce through the veil which separates our world from the Black Sun Dimension. This item doesn't need gems. The integral gems can be colored stones. However, it is powered by Nachtsonne crystals, mined in and around Isenstadt. Components: 3 power gems, 1 apex power gem, lock plate, and dark sun spindle.
(a)The device consists of several different kinds of metals: silvers, gold, steel. It has rounded girth for easier handling, (b)as the crystal nears the center dark gem it glows brightly, when a person pushes his crystal into this gem it powers the device. (c) The locked plate rotates 90 degrees to unlock the center spindal. (d) According to the color of the crystal powering up the device the center spindal will rotate until the corresponding color is at the apex of the device, there it will lock in place. (e) The device powers the gem, it glows incredibly, the lock plate rotates back into position.
Kreisau Circle Operation Dispatches
Raven's Nest
Caroline,
We've been watching the Raven's Nest tavern in order to learn the guard rotation patterns at the nearby warehouse. Unfortunately, we've gained very little information. I would suggest placing someone in deep cover to infiltrate the tavern.
Hidden Blueprint
Hans,
There are blueprints hidden in my filing cabinet that I stole from the Cannery. If you are reading this, then I've been taken prisoner by the SS or worse. I beg you to take the documents to the Kreisau Circle. They outline a vile biological experiment that the Nazis are working on. Hopefully the resistance will be able to stop them before they complete their research.
Follow the Sewers
Victory is nearly ours! Our forces flanked the heavy machinegun nests that controlled the main street and we're now within view of the church. But we're pinned down near the Schloss Hotel. If you are a member of the Kreisau Circle, take the catacombs beneath the hotel, they look to be the only route forward.
Follow the Catacombs
We've broken through the sewers and into the catacombs beneath the church. We still don't know what the machine at the church is, but it has to be associated with the advanced weaponry the Nazis have been using. The device must be destroyed in hopes of setting back their weapons research program.
Sniffer Diagram
Sniffers, also known as Schnüffler. These creatures are the result of human exposure to Veil energy. The Nazis will not stop in their quest for building an advanced war machine and these include human experimentation. Their racial and political ideology guarantees no shortage of victims for their insidious experiments, the sniffers being but a horrific example. The sniffers are controlled by Scribes, Nazi occultistswho enhance their bodies with pure Black Sun energy. They are utilized to find pure Nachtsonne crystals grown artificially by Nazis. They are also known as Gemein (Vile) and Blutschleicher (Blood Skulker). If they encountered do not engage unless heavier firepower is available, otherwise avoid at all cost.
To be continued...
