Haven't written a Megamind fic in awhile! I miss that big headed blue alien. ;)

Anywho, I was watching the movie, and during the scene where Roxanne finds Megamind's lair, I couldn't help but notice that, when she was about to fall into the alligator pit, Megamind came out of nowhere and rescued her. X) So I was really wanting to write this! :D Enjoy, and PLEASE review!

As he rounded the corner, Megamind saw Roxanne open the door labeled 'exit' and step over the threshold.

Immediately he realized something was wrong.

Roxanne screamed and began to flail her arms in an attempt to keep herself from falling, for she was leaning dangerously out over a pit full of alligators. How could he have forgotten about the alligators!

Without thinking, Megamind dashed forward. In his haste, he nearly forgot to twist his watch and change his appearance.

He grabbed Roxanne by the wrist and pulled her away from danger, back onto solid ground.

"Bernard!" she gasped. "You were right about that door being exciting!"

Astonishment hit him. Had he just…rescued Roxanne Ritchie?

But he didn't have time to muse. The Brainbots were approaching, and they had to get out.

They ran as if for their lives, and Roxanne blew up half his lair in the process. At last, the were in the open, having escaped the explosion.

And at last, Megamind was able to see the person who had been hit with Metroman's power.

He was so caught up in his own reveries, he didn't realize that Roxanne was talking to him. But then, in a swift movement, she had flung her arms around his neck. Shock, and a strange thrill filled him. Hesitantly, he returned the embrace.

But just as sudden as it had begun, she loosened her grip and released him.

"I'll call you tomorrow, partner!" she said enthusiastically.

At a loss for words, all he could manage was, "I'd like that."

What?

Thoughts and emotions, mainly confusion, hit him from every direction. All he could do was stare as Roxanne got into the news van with the man, who was saying something Megamind couldn't hear.

He watched her drive away in a daze. What was this strange feeling pulsing through him? This tremor within him? This uncontrollable pounding in his chest? He felt a happiness that had nothing to do with the hours previous, spent recreating Metroman's powers.

The fleeting moment didn't last long enough. Minion's voice said over the communicator, "Code: did you find out who it was?"

Snapped back into reality, Megamind resumed his normal appearance.

"Code," he said, "get the car."

But he made no move to meet Minion, lost in his own deep thoughts.

Roxanne had been in danger, and he had reacted without the slightest hesitation. Why? What had come over him?

He had felt…strangely protective.

Again, why? He had always kidnapped her, put her in danger to get at Metroman. Of course he would never have actually harmed her! He wouldn't have dreamed of hurting her…he had always only just wanted to scare her.

But it never worked.

So how come, now of all times, he had saved her?

Confused, now more than ever, Megamind was barely aware that Minion had pulled up in the invisible car.

"Sir, are you ready?" came the alien fish's voice. "Sir?"

Again, Megamind was snapped out of his musings.

"Ah, yes! Yes, Minion!"

And he jumped in the passenger's seat, new set of thoughts already coursing through his mind.
