Series: Digimon/ 02
Timeline: Indepentent/ AU
Rating: K
Characters: Takeru & Hikari

A/N: Yay, my first Digimon drabble! :D It's kinda short and unclear but aren't drabbles always? I'm not even sure what's happening here. It's cliche and cheezy. And un-betaed. But that's how it came out, so try to enjoy it. Reviews always welcomed! ^^
Never Let It Go
"We're not going to make it... There's nothing we can do..." the girl sobbed, lost in her own sorrow and desperation. Her tears rolled down her cheeks like a river, taking the small bit of faith and belief away from her. The girl's tears glistened in the light of the little fire they had managed to build up to protect them from the surrounding darkness.
The boy said nothing as he watched anywhere but the girl. He was sitting in the corner of the shabby cave, his hair covering his eyes, his emotions. The boy's fisted hands shook and his body trembled as he heard the girl grieve. He too wished he could cry. That he could forget everything that's happening and everything that has happened. That he could let himself go in the desperate situation and understand what despair meant.
"This is hopeless", the girl whispered.
But he couldn't.
It was his job to keep the hope up. His job to not let the lightness in dark disappear. His job to protect the light that kept everything together, everything living.
It was his destiny to believe.
"It's never hopeless", the boy whispered and stood up. He walked to the girl who was watching him is disbelief as he crouched to her level.
"There's always hope, no matter what", he said and placed his precious hat on the girl's head. He gave her a small yet comforting smile that promised to make everything better.
And at that moment the girl felt that nothing could hurt them, could hurt her. That everything would be fixed and everything that was lost would be retrieved. She felt hopeful.
There has to be a tomorrow.
"Please, don't ever forget that, Hikari", the boy breathed and gave her a brilliant smile that could, and did, light up the whole stuffy cave they were in.
The girl grabbed the outlines of the hat and bulled it deeper on her head. The tears did not die but this time they were from something more than despair.
She glanced up to see the boy's beautiful azure eyes and she found the silent promise she was looking for.
Everything will be all right.
"Thank you, Takeru."
