An Unnatural Scent - Epilogue
General O'Neill looked around the table and held back a sigh as he prepared to give an edited briefing to his former team as well as other relevant SGC personnel. He was sure General Hammond was laughing at him from retirement. It had taken over a month for things to get hashed out with The Council and he was sure they hadn't told him everything. The way Buffy Summers had reacted at Loki's lab said she knew more than she should about it, but he suspected plausible deniability was something he wanted here.
Not that far away, Buffy Summers was sitting in a magically protected room in a newly purchased house in Colorado Springs. She had also summoned her 'war council,' all those that were part of the hunt for Xander were all magically present if not physically present. She at least didn't have much to conceal from her team, just details that couldn't be leaked if compromised by aliens.
Jack began, "As many of you know SG-1 and I went on a mission to retrieve an Earth victim, one Alexander Harris, from the Asgard mad scientist, Loki. We were accompanied by friends of Harris who had uncovered information about the Asgard searching for him…"
Buffy continued, "…From there we found the Xander 4 pack. Xander's that seemed to diverge from various possessions he's had. Only one of them can pass for normal Earth human, but because they want to stick together they won't be coming to Earth. Unfortunately another alien race stole the original Xander so..."
"… We had to disclose information about both the Go'ald and the Ori to Harris's friends…"
"…I think it's safe to say we don't want either group on Earth. We have no way of knowing if our abilities would help protect us or possibly help them if we're compromised. We did thankfully befriend the Asgard because…"
"…One of them is a geneticist, Dr. Erin Walker, she believes that these strange changes in the clones of Harris might be the missing link needed to repair the damage to the Asgard DNA. Thor seemed optimistic about this, so she and her fiancé will be traveling to the Ida galaxy to assist them in this project…"
"… Erin thinks that she can bypass the influence of the use of magic because the end results are different DNAs based on the same original DNA. She's also pretty sure that she can use the knowledge learned from the Asgard to solve the last hurtle to her werewolf project. The problem is the Ori mentioned a prophecy…"
"…that we believe was successfully identified and translated by the group Harris's first clone and friends work for. They do a lot of work in archaeology and linguistics. During the time between the mission and now they have been able to translate the entire Book of the Origin and have included with the translation various interpretations and references to similar events and stories on Earth. Daniel has had a chance to go thru their translation and confirms it as accurate…"
"…Dawn's translation shows that the goal of taking Xander lies with their belief that 'The One Who Sees' has the ability to act as a stabilizer for using 'The Living Key' to open doorways in reality and dimension. Last time the Key was used it caused dimensions to bleed thru each other, it would have destroyed all realities and dimensions nearby. The translation hints that Xander, probably because of all the things he's been a part of and seen, can act as a filter to stop this bleed thru…"
"…That means the Ori think they can use Harris and this 'Living Key' to either allow the Ori to walk among us or allow the Ori to invade other realities without a quantum mirror. Ms. Summers has already moved to Colorado Springs with some of her highly trained personnel. They might go on missions with us on a case by case basis. However most of them are highly distrusting of the military due to a past issue with the NID…"
"…We can't risk the Ori getting a hold of the key…"
"…In an act of trust, Ms. Summer's younger sister, Dawn, who is a gifted translator, will be going to Atlantis to assist there. She'll be accompanied by her boyfriend, Connor Angel, who will be acting as her bodyguard. The Harris clones we found at Loki's lab will also be going to Atlantis. I've also decided to send my own clone there as well…"
End~
Reviews inspire me!
So this is basically the set up for the sequel. Hopefully it answers all the basic questions without being too confusing going back and forth between Jack and Buffy talking.
Weird side note: I've been watching the Christmas romance movies on Hallmark and I kept thinking the main actress looked familiar in the one I just finished. I'm thinking I'm not sure but I think that's the actress who plays Darla. I look her up. Yes, yes it is her. I'm like let me see who the guy is and I'm like OMG it's Daniel Jackson. I thought he looked familiar because he looked like a buffer handsomer Michael Keaton (in his Batman days) to me, but it's the actor who plays Daniel Jackson (age 47!?).
