It's been awhile, hasn't it? For those of you waiting to learn the fate of New Testaments: Secret of Mana, wait no longer.

I've got some good news and some bad news.

Let's get the bad news out of the way: this is the end of the road for this story. Progress on future chapters came to a halt, but there was work done, and there are chapters completed that have yet to be posted. But the reality is, this decision wasn't made because of the (often delayed) future, but the past.

You see, NTSoM was one of the first pieces of prose fiction we had ever written. It was the first time I had collaborated with other writers on a single story. Its age and novicity shows. We constantly look at older chapters and want to change or add things; we've all grown as people and writers and we know that what we've written could be better. But constantly revising and changing early aspects of a story nearly twenty chapters in won't do anyone any favors. You don't start messing with the foundation after the house is built. So yeah, New Testaments: Secret of Mana as it is known now is done.

Which brings me to the good news: the project is not dead! I proudly announce its rebirth as New Testaments DX: Secret of Mana, which will be posted as a separate story. What started as an idea to rewrite the first couple of chapters expanded when we all agreed to take that to its logical conclusion. NTDX:SoM will be a full remake of this story; we are starting at the base and working our way up. The prologue and the first couple of chapters will be rewritten from scratch, and everything following will be revised accordingly. There will be retcons and additions, more defined character personalities, more detail, some changes in pacing, etc. We're building a brand new house and it'll be better than ever, and we are not restrained by the past. The storyline will not drastically change, but what does get changed will be for the better. The work has already begun, so the wait won't be too long. Depending on when you read this, New Testaments DX: Secret of Mana may already be available!
