Amity had her knees in a ball. She was crying, mourning. It had been 1 week since Luz had died, one week since Eda came back, one week since Lilith died. It was terrible. Life was terrible.

As she sat in the cold and dark room, she heard a knock on the door. She knew who it was and she didn't care to answer. She had refused to eat since Luz died. She sat in Luz's room every day. The door was locked and not even magic could get through this kind of lumber.

It was a silk birch-bark door that had smooth wooden carvings in every splinter. It was green-blue and had a nice, slim silver. Amity heard the job jiggle and she knew that Eda was trying to get in.

"Kid please come out. You need to eat."

Amity didn't respond. Her heart was so broken and too far lost. She knew Eda was depressed but Amity couldn't survive it. As she continues to hear the job jiggle, Amity got up. She walked over to the closet to grab a rope. She began to tie it into a round price and struck it up on a wall.

She went to unlock the door and then went back to stand on a table that held her close to the noose. Amity stares at the door, awaiting Eda to come through. When Eda did come through, she dropped the plate in shock. Amity was about to jump off the table with the noose around her neck, when Eda spoke up.

"Kid, please don't do this. You have so much to live for. I get it ok, just don't kill yourself."

Amity still stared, ready to jump off at any moment. Eda sighed and dropped to her knees. She knew that she couldn't control Amity, so she just gave up.

"It's your choice, kid."

Amity stares at her, knowing what she wanted to do, but was this the good choice. Amity stares down at her hands and back at Eda. Amity closed her eyes, reached up, and put her hand on Eda's shoulder. Eda looked up at Amity, and they stared at each other, awaiting for Amity to make her decision.

However, they hear a knock on the front door. Eda gets up and looks at Amity one more time before walking towards the front door. Amity stares at her hands, ready to jump off. She was about to leap when she heard Eda speak.

"Luz?"
