I hope everyone likes this. The idea popped into my head randomly so I decided to write a quick little story.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto.

Tsunade opened her eyes to the sound of her alarm blaring at her. Glancing over she sees the time as 6:00am. Groaning she sat up...and immediately laid back down. I thought I'd be better by today, I've been sick for three days already, but it's only getting worse! Dammit! I have so much work to do at the tower… wait no, today's my day off… Shizune said she'd take over for me...thank kami. I feel so sick. I'm pretty sure I have a fever, I'm developing a migraine and I feel like I'm going to throw up...scratch that I am.
Getting up as fast as she can, Tsunade stumbles over to the bathroom and empties what little food she had into the toilet. Once done, she wipes her mouth and brushes her teeth. She checks her bathroom for medicine and to her dismay finds she has run out. Groaning, she grabs a cloth and runs it in some water before heading back to bed. Burying herself in her blankets, she places the cloth on her head in an attempt to lower her high fever.
I feel so sick and weak. She thought feverishly. Her short time out of bed had only served to aggravate her symptoms. Chills began to rack her body, making her shiver violently and her teeth chatter. The chills made it impossible to fall asleep but made her feel even more exhausted at the frequent movement. In the back of her mind, it occurred to her that this probably indicated that her fever was rising, but she was too delirious to act on the thought. In her thrashing, the rag had fallen off her head and onto the ground.
I'm so cold...I need another blanket… Ignoring her better judgment, she looked towards the half opened closet and saw two thick winter comforters just waiting to be used. Sitting up ever so slowly, she stood on shaky legs and stumbled her way over to the closet and grabbed the blankets. Beating all the odds, she managed to get back over to the bed where she collapsed onto it.
She was even colder now, due to getting out of bed, to the point where she could not stop shaking. Laying both comforters and the other blankets over her, she curled into the covers. Her teeth were chattering so bad she was almost worried she'd bite off her tongue. She wanted to cry, she had never been this sick in her many years of living.
I must've gotten this from one of my patients or got some virus from another village that I have no immunity to. She was panting from her trip to the closet and it made her throat and lungs burn. She began coughing so harshly, her entire body shook with the force. The cough was a wet hacking cough that made it hard to breath. Her lungs felt heavy and it felt like she wasn't able to get enough air in her lungs.
Weezing, she reached a shaky hand over to her bedside table and grabbed the glass of water. She almost dropped it and with her other hand sat herself up. She held the glass with two quivering hands and sipped it slowly. The cool water chilled her system, causing another shiver to go down her spine but it helped ease her burning throat.
Breathing a little easier, she put the glass down and pulled the blankets back over her shoulders. She knew it was bad to have so many blankets when running such a high temperature, but she was so cold she didn't care.
Suddenly though, she felt a flash of heat. It was so uncomfortable that she threw off her blankets in a rush. Though as quickly as it had come it disappeared and she was left freezing without her blankets. She pulled them back on but then she got hot again, starting the cycle all over again. The heat would make her sweat, but she would still be cold to the point where she couldn't tell the difference between hot and cold. She would be freezing and boiling at the same time, sweating and shivering and unable to fall asleep. She opted to keep the blankets on because she was in a cold sweat and it had set into her very bones.
She felt so ill and feverish. Her head felt like it was splitting and everytime a shiver racked her frame it would further aggravate it. The shaking also caused her abs to clench, making the nausea horrible. Her cough had come back with a vengeance, making her throat raw to the point where she was coughing up blood, but was too delirious to register it. All she could do was lie there shuddering in her mounds of blankets.
I… I need… I need help… Her blurry vision landed on her phone or more rather three phones. Raising a weak hand she grasped the phone and opened it. Looking at the first number that appeared, she clicked it, praying that the person on the other end would pick up.
"Hey Granny, what's up?" A cheerful voice answered. Before she could answer, she was interrupted by a cough. "Granny?" He asked, his voice now laced with worry and concern. Managing to stop, she choked out a response. "N-Naruto...I-I n-need h-help...I-m s-sick...I-I though i-it would g-go a-away...I-I'm at m-my a-apartment." She started coughing again gasping for breath. It was getting harder and harder to breath. It felt like her lungs were being filled with fluid and she was drowning. "Hold on! I'm coming! Just hang in there okay!" He hung up the phone.
She dropped the phone and tried to focus on breathing. The fever was still rising and she was sure she passed dangerous temperatures ages ago. Naruto...hurry… As if to answer her plea, she heard the sound on a door being blown off its hinges and Naruto's panic stricken face came into view. At the sight of her, his face turned ashen.
"Granny!" He yelled, running over to her. Touching her forehead, he hissed as if in pain. Picking her up, she barely reacted, proving how out of it she was. "Hang on, hang on, you'll be okay." He whispered to her.
Making sure she was wrapped tightly in a blanket, he bolted out the door, running faster than ever before. He pushed so much chakra into his feet, that the concrete beneath him shattered under the pressure. To the people around him, all they saw was an orange blur whizzing past them. He made it to the hospital in record time, screaming at the top of his lungs, tears pouring down his face.
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING! MOVE FASTER! SHE COULD BE DYING!" In his panic, he released mountains of KI, so much so that it alerted every shinobi in a five mile radius. Kakashi, realizing it was Naruto, rushed to the hospital in time to stop him from killing all the doctors. Naruto was hyperventilating as he clutched Tsunade tightly.
"Naruto! Stop!" He said, placing a hand on his ex-student's shoulder. Naruto seemed to snap out of his trance when he saw Kakashi. The KI had been so thick it had even been hard for him to think and basically impossible for the doctors to function. The doctors quickly recovered themselves and Naruto let them take her from his arms. They began yelling things Naruto didn't understand and it made him scared of losing another person like he had Jiraiya.
"Kakashi-Sensei" Naruto looked up at the man with tears in his eyes. Kakashi wasted no time in pulling Naruto into a hug. "Shh Naruto, she'll be alright." Naruto passed out in his arms, both from using so much chakra and from the emotional exhaustion. Kakashi picked him up and led him over to a spare bed, where he could sleep peacefully. "Poor kid, he was really shaken up. Tsunade, you better be okay or else you're going to break him." He murmured to himself. Kakashi sighed before sitting down on a chair next to Naruto to wait. He was so distracted, he didn't even take out Icha Icha Paradise.
An hour or two later, a nurse came out and informed Kakashi that they had stabilized the Hokage and that she was now awake and lucid. Kakashi turned to a sleeping Naruto and shook him awake. "Hmm?" He mumbled. "Tsunade's awake and stable." Kakashi replied. Recognition lit up in Naruto's eyes and he jumped up in the direction Kakashi pointed.
Facing down the halls, he found the room she was in and blasted through the door. Naruto saw Tsunade was sitting upright and breathing with the help of an oxygen mask but overall was looking much better than when Naruto had found her in her house. She looked over at him and smiled and was about to speak but Naruto spoke first. Tears started streaming down his face and a shadow fell over his eyes so she couldn't see his expression.
"Why?" His voice cracking. Tsunade didn't know how to respond. He continued. "Why! Why did you make me worry like that! You're a medic! How did you let yourself get so sick!" His voice was steadily rising to the point where he was almost yelling. Tsunade frowned, looking ashamed. She had never intended to make Naruto so distraught and angry with her. "I'm sorry I made you angry." She said softly. With that he looked up. She expected to see anger in his eyes, but what she found was nothing of the sort. His eyes were filled with pure terror, pain and sorrow. "I'm not mad," He says, his voice choked with sobs. "I was terrified. I thought you were dying! I was so scared! I thought I was going to lose you too! I lost my parents, my sensei, if I lost you too… I don't know if I could've handled it." Tsunade was at a loss for words as the boy she thought of as a son cried his eyes out for her.
"Come here." She opened her arms, beckoning for him to come closer. He complied and crawled into bed with her, soaking in her warmth and comfort. She hugged him close and petted his head while his cries quieted. "I'm okay Naruto, I'm okay...I'm never going to leave you." He looked up at her, his face stained with tears. "You promise?" She smiled. "I promise. Besides, I still have to watch you become Hokage." He grinned cheekily before cuddling further into her embrace.
They stayed that way for a long time, finding comfort in each other. Over the next few days, Naruto stayed at the hospital with Tsunade and it was found that she had suffered from a nasty case of pneumonia. She recovered fully after a week though, and everything went back to the way it was before. Everyone was happy once again and Tsunade and Naruto were closer than they ever were.
The End
