An Unexpected Night at Natsu's

I don't own Fairy Tail at all

A/N: I had this little idea and decided to write it out.

Levy was wandering and hopelessly lost. She had been on a nice walk before heading back to Fairy Hills, but she didn't keep track of the time and soon it was night and she was in a place she was unfamiliar with. She would've known where she was if it was light, but in the dark it was harder. She wandered around hoping to find a familiar landmark, but so far none. She was getting tired and a bit hungry. That's when she heard it, a noise. It sounded like footsteps and not her own. She started to get a bit scared and quickened her pace. That only made the footsteps get quicker too. This really scared her since that meant whoever it was following her.

She started to run til she tripped and landed on the ground with a grunt.

"Hey Levy, you alright?"

Wait, that voice. It's Natsu Levy thought.

"Natsu" she called.

A burst of light came revealing Natsu and the light was from the fireball he was holding in his hand. Levy rolled over and sat up from her lying position.

"Yeah, what are you doing here Levy?" Natsu asked.

"Um, I was out for a walk and lost track of time" Levy said not feeling an ounce of embarrassment since this was Natsu and he'd never make fun of her.

"Oh" Natsu said.

"What are you doing here Natsu?" Levy asked.

"Eh, I live close by here" Natsu said.

"Oh" Levy answered.

"Yeah, come on get up and you can come to my place. It's getting late" Natsu said.

Levy just nodded and got up and followed Natsu. He kept the fireball, which let her follow him much easier. Levy saw Natsu's house and it was small, but she thought it worked for the young dragon slayer. Once inside Natsu's home she saw how messy it was and her face scrunched up. She also saw fish, a whole lot of fish. After seeing that she realized something was missing.

"Where's Happy?" Levy asked looking around for the blue cat.

"He's with Lisanna tonight" Natsu said.

"Oh, okay" Levy said then her stomach growled and she blushed.

"Hungry, I'll whip something up" Natsu said as he headed to the kitchen.

"You don't have to do that Natsu" Levy said.

"Hey, no trouble" Natsu said with a grin.

He then went into the kitchen and Levy peeked and saw it was just as messy as the rest of the house and that Natsu looked like he actually knew how to cook.

"You know how to cook?" Levy asked surprised.

"Eh, of course. I had to" Natsu said with a shrug.

"I'm just surprised. You don't seem like the type to cook" Levy said.

"I don't do it a lot since I can go to the guild hall and stuff, but I do know" Natsu said.

What he didn't say was that Erza taught him since she thought if Natsu was going to live by himself then he should know how to cook. Those lessons were some of the scariest things ever. So many big knives flying all around and who'd have thought a rubber spatula could be downright terrifying.

Levy sat at the table a bit fidgety since she's never been in Natsu's home before and wasn't really sure what to do. Her eyes scanned the place though. The front door connected into a living room that connected into the small dining room/kitchen that Natsu was in. There was a small hallway that probably led to the bedroom and bathroom Levy suspected. It was all Natsu and Happy really needed. Levy crinkled her nose at the mess that the dragon slayer and Exceed left around.

But then her eyes locked onto a large, and she meant large corkboard and table just below it. On the corkboard were pictures of many members of Fairy Tail. There were some from when they were kids and others when they were in various ages and ones more recent. The board was just filled with pictures and other things that were hung up. The table seemed to hold more treasures and mementos that Natsu seemed to have saved over his life as a member of Fairy Tail.

Wanting a better look Levy left her chair and walked over. A smile graced her lips as she stared at the older photos when she was younger, when all of them were younger. A picture of a young Natsu and Gray fighting then another with them being hit on the head by Erza to stop them from fighting. This made her laugh a bit since some things never seemed to change over the years. Then there was a photo of Erza and Mirajane butting heads with Natsu and Gray cowering in the corner. Next to that was a picture of little Natsu and Lisanna. They looked to be dozing as they rested against one another with Happy snuggled between them. Again Levy smiled at the old memories.

Her eyes scanned over other pictures and found one that was more recent. It was of Lucy and it was probably taken just when the Celestrial mage had first joined. She was with Natsu and Happy smiling happily. There were so many pictures on the board, so many memories.

"Hey Levy, food's ready" Natsu called.

Levy tore her eyes away from the board and headed to the table and found a nice meal waiting for her. Her mouth watered slightly. She now realized how hungry she really was.

I guess wandering lost at night builds an appetite the script mage thought.

"Well what are you waiting for, dig in" Natsu said as he dug into his own food.

Levy began to eat her. She looked up and saw Natsu wasn't eating like he normally did. He actually was showing he had manners. This stunned her a bit.

"Eh, you alright there Levy?" Natsu asked noticing the Solid Script Mage's look.

"Um yeah, just not used to you eating with manners I guess" Levy said trying to hide her surprise.

"Huh, okay" Natsu said with a shrug and went back to eating like it was nothing.

Levy shook her head. Leave it to Natsu to still surprise you even after all this time. The pair ate quietly til they were finished. Levy went to grab the dishes and was stopped by Natsu.

"Hey, what are ya doin'?" the dragon slayer asked.

"Well since you made the meal I figured I should at least clean up the dishes" Levy said.

"But you're the guest" Natsu argued.

"It's alright, I want to" Levy said smiling.

Natsu paused to think for a moment then slowly nodded and Levy busted the dishes and cleaned them in the kitchen sink letting them air dry.

"It's late, best you stay here tonight" Natsu said.

"Um, right, where can I sleep?" Levy asked looking around.

"Huh, good question" Natsu said as he scratched his head in thought.

The place was sparsely furnished really. There was a couch, but it didn't look all too comfortable to sleep on. Then there was chair and that wasn't an option to Levy since she's fallen asleep in a chair numerous times before and always woke up stiff and sore from sleeping in an uncomfortable position most of the night. Other than that the only place was the bed. As that entered Levy's mind it made her cheeks go bright red. The thought of her sharing a bed with Natsu send her imagination going wild.

"Eh Levy, what going on?" Natsu asked confused.

"Huh, oh nothing. Nothing at all" Levy said quickly.

"Uh, okay" Natsu said perplexed.

Levy took a couple of deep breaths trying to calm her overactive imagination. How could her mind go straight to there in a split second? Seriously. This was Natsu, and she was Levy. Guild mates, friends. That's all; there was nothing else between them that could even warrant such lewd thoughts. They barely knew each other even though they've been in the same guild for years. They just ran in different circles. She chalked it up to reading those lurid books that Erza secretly collected.

"How about you take the bed, I get the couch?" Natsu suggested.

"I don't want to put you out" Levy said.

"It'll be fine" Natsu said nonchalantly.

"Okay, if you're alright with it" Levy said.

"Yeah, of course I am" Natsu said with a smile.

Levy followed Natsu to the bedroom and saw two hammocks. One was big and the other small. She figured Natsu slept in the big one and Happy the small one. She wasn't too sure about sleeping in a hammock since she's never slept in one before.

"Here ya go" Natsu said as he pulled out a pillow and a blanket.

"Thank you Natsu, for everything" Levy said taking the items.

"It's nothing Levy, we're family" Natsu said casually.

Levy smiled. This was why she loved Fairy Tail. You weren't just members of a guild. You were a family.

"Well lets hit the hay. It's late" Natsu said.

Levy nodded as she eased herself into the hammock. She shifted some as she tried to find a comfortable spot. She didn't know how Natsu could sleep in one of these things. But soon she found a sweet spot and her movement stopped. As sleep slowly took her nose was filled with that unique scent that was Natsu. That scent comforted her even if her conscious mind didn't register it, her subconscious did. A smile graced her face as Morpheus took her finally.

End

A/N: figuring out an ending to this was tricky to do since I wasn't sure how to end it. I'm still not sure of this ending, but I couldn't think of anything better. Thanks for reading and please review.
