Disclaimer, this is neutral fanfic. What does that mean? It means this is for fans and people who hate this show.

I say this because I won't be criticizing the series during this fic. I'll be trying to be respectful enough for this show and keep it the sameish. Of course, just without as much Adam West insanity, switching the narrative a bit and trying my best to keep the characters the sameish. The direction in which the show was head seemed obvious, so I'd try keeping that with the new element introduced in this storyline. (and random things I throw in and such whatever)

I hope you all enjoy it, and all chapters won't be this long, maybe. This went on longer than I thought, I felt it would be essential to develop this change.

*Update, just as I finished writing this they confirm a new character will be created to replace Kate Kane…...oh dear.*

I'm a trans woman lesbian btw. Surprise.

Sophie Moore sat at her desk at Crows HQ. Ever since Kate Kane stepped back into her life, things got interesting. For better or worse. Since she re-entered her life, she had to face the feels long buried. Mixed results came from this, her husband left. Imitable, he wasn't such a good man as she believed if he'd go her over something in the past. What seemed to be the past. With his departure, these feels came creeping back up. They felt good. This did lead to her being temporarily fired and then rehired, which made her head spin a little. Jacob Kane was like a father to her, and sometimes he overreacted. This was one of those times. Although he had been going through a lot, his daughter returned from the dead and killed his new wife of 10+ years. A good deep down, flawed woman. Not to mention Kate shutting him out and Sophie as she returned to Gotham. Some secret they were both hiding, no wonder Jacob was starting to crack under pressure. Maybe it was more comfortable placing all rage inside onto the idea of Batwoman. A faceless figure.

Enough about him. After kissing Batwoman, all these feelings had to arise boiling to the surface and couldn't be contended. She came out to her mother, getting the tragic expected result heading into a relationship with Batwoman despite all logic, just passion. She could feel some familiar presence with her, one she'd never admit.

Unfortunately, Batwoman rejected her when she needed her the most.

Later, Julia would come into her life. She'd bring excitement and mystery just like Batwoman did, and she could feel passion for them. Or maybe she's just never had a healthy relationship in her entire life. But that's highly unlikely.

She was happy, all was right. Apart from some minor issues that could be fixed now, Julia, a loving partner, had entered her life. Maybe she could finally move on from Kate.

Elsewhere in Gotham, Kate had returned from a night of patrolling as Batwoman. She was a little tired and was going to head out until Luke detected someone lurking in Wayne tower, which shocked him.

"Who do you see?" She asked him, confused.

"It's." He stuttered. "It's Bruce?"

"Bruce Wayne? Here?"

"That's what I just said, see for yourself," Luke replied, letting her see for herself.

"It must be Mouse."

"Why would Alice do this?"

"I'm going to go find out. Stay put." She went up to greet him, pretending to buy into this act. In a minute, she stood before the man who looked like Bruce Wayne.

"Kate, it's been a long time."

"Cut the crap Mouse, what do you want."

"I'm not Mouse, I've researched him and Alice. They're why I have returned to Gotham to help you put an end to their rampage through the city. I understand there was a mess break-out at Arkham?"

She grabbed at his face attempting to pull it off with no luck.

"Are you done?" He snapped.

"Can't be too careful. Tell me something only Bruce Wayne would know."

"Such as?"

"First love."

"Julie Madison. My best friend at the time, Thomas Elliot was ponding for her attention as well, he was a good man then and dropped his affections for my shake. She chose me, then I broke up with her a couple of months later. It was for her own good. I'm nothing but damaged goods. Must you know something else, Kate?"

"No, Bruce. Are you here for the suit? Cause I won't give it up without a fight."

"I figured. I'm never putting on the suit again, you're the Bat. Now you seem tried, let's go out for some coffee with Luke. I'd love to catch up with you both before the heavy work ahead of us."

"I'm fine with that or something stronger."

He laughed, which Luke saw on the monitor finding weird, but Kate did not seem to react to this. Luke shrugged this shoulders coming up as well. He was sneaky with how he came up, not wanting to reveal the location just in case of this being a phony despite Kate's seeming trust. Luke being passive, trusted her judgement.

Together they all went to a nearby coffee place to catch up as said before. This place was open late at night, nearly 24/7. Bruce Wayne and Kate Kane were not recognized while they sat outside with Luke. This was good as they were having personal talks.

"Where have you been, Bruce?" Luke asked.

"Around the world, I snapped, lost my way. Needed to find it again and I saw Kate was struggling-"

"I'm not." She cut him off.

"Just thinking another head could help, wouldn't you two agree?"

"You left Bruce, did not give any reason for it at all. So what you snapped, lost your way. Gotham fell apart! If not for Kate, so many lives would be lost!" Luke exclaimed.

"From what I've seen, she's still made a lot of mistakes and screw-ups. My best friend caused a lot of trouble for the city."

"He was always a crap friend," Kate said, sipping her coffee.

Bruce nodded in agreement. As he did Kate, saw a flash pushing Bruce and Luke to the ground as bullets came speeding towards them, hitting at high speed rapidly.

As the shots stopped, Luke rushed over to Kate, finding her bleeding uncontrollable.

"No. No no. Kate, come on stay with me. Bruce, do something!"

He shrugged his shoulders. "She's a goner."

"No!" Luke shouted. "Mary will kill you for giving us a scare like this come on Kate, your strong don't die here! Your the strongest person I know, come on!" She was unresponsive.

"Kate, look at me."

She did, opening her eyes slightly. "Luke, don't lose hope. Don't lose courage. Don't lose themselves. Tell my dad, Mary and Sophie. Don't let this break them, and please. Don't give up on Alice. Most importantly, tell Sophie…" She stopped speaking, dropping her hands that grabbed Luke's coat.

Sophie worked away, trying to get intel on Alice and Sariyah. The two most significant current threats to Gotham.

Jacob rushed out of his office, shouting for everyone to drop everything. He explained there was a shooting downtown, and his daughter was in the vicinity, so they need to catch the bastard fast.

Everyone listened and headed out

Sophie was stopped by a fellow Crow agent. A man named Braydon Broughton.

"Do you think the command's going overboard here, I mean all of us for one shooting?" Agent Broughton asked her.

Sophie sighed. "It's his decision. Just make sure some people stay behind to keep an eye out. Never can be too safe."

"Do you think there could be another traitor?" He whispered.

She whispered back. "Unlikely." She replied, lying as he could be the mole looking for intel.

"Thank you, agent Moore. Happy to have you back. You're well-deserving of your promotion."

She walked away and mutter, "Kiss ass," to herself.

Sophie caught up to Jacob, who was rushing out into his truck.

"Sir, let me ride with you," Sophie asked.

He nodded. Julia also ran up. "Is this ride full?" She asked.

"You'll have to get in the back, fast!" He responded quickly.

"What's wrong? You know something." Sophie asked, concerned with how he was acting.

He let out a massive breath of air sitting back. "They said someone's been hit. It could be Kate. I've got this feeling in my gut."

Sophie tried to hold back her emotions, putting her hands on his shoulder. "I've got that feeling too. Can't let that bring us down, do you want me to drive?"

"No, no more wasting time." He started driving as fast as possible.

They all reached the little cafe. Finding the GCPD holding people back and looking around.

Sophie and Jacob rushed over.

"What happened!" Jacob exclaimed, seeing a pool of blood.

One officer spoke up. "Sir, come with me."

Sophie followed Jacob as Julia stayed behind.

The officer brought them to a person covered under a sheet. The officer was hastated to reveal who was dead, which said enough.

Jacob and Sophie pulled the sheet up together, praying for it not to be her. Tears ran down both their eyes, seeing Kate Kane, dead. With bullets in her chest.

Nothing was said as they both cried holding each other.

Luke came over and said weekly, "I'm so sorry."

"What happened?" Jacob asked, wiping away his tears and trying to stand tall.

Sophie held onto Kate, not paying attention, looking into her empty eyes, stroking her short hair. She grabbed her hand and kissed her on the lips, whispering, "Goodbye, I'll always love you." She closed her eyes and turned to Luke, determined to know what happened to her as well.

Luke tried to speak but failed to. With another attempt, he did. "A sniper began shooting at us, she saved us."

"Your Luke Fox?" Jacob asked as he never met her before, of course.

"Yes, I was a friend of yo-. Your daughter." He paused. "I like to think I was anyways, I failed her in the end."

"Don't," Jacob said. He continued. "Did you get a good look?"

"No, sir, Bruce might have."

"Bruce Wayne. Of course, he'd be involved." Jacob muttered, looking for him.

Sophie approached Luke.

"She talked very highly of you," Sophie said to him.

"Huh, she never told me that. Thank you, Sophie, right?" He tried playing a little dumb as they never met in person.

"Kate." She paused as the tears started to come back.

"We don't have to-"

"It's fine,'' she snapped. "Sorry, it's fine. Kate. She was like that. She always wanted to be the strongest, toughest person in the room. She overcompensated sometimes. Being nice would be showing weakness to her."

"Yeah, somehow, I liked her a lot even though she was never nice to me in the conventional sense." He slightly chuckled. "She was a hero and a good friend. She always spoke so highly of you. Whenever she did, it was like the real Kate was coming into focus, I kind person who deeply cared for you." Luke said.

"We're going to catch this bastard, and when we do, I promise they're going in the ground."

Julia came over. Hugging Sophie with tears in her eyes. "Can't believe she's gone."

"Julia?" Luke questioned. "Are you?"

"Yes, I'd say we are Luke."

"Kate never mentioned it. Not surprising."

"She had a habit of that, rest her soul. Kate Kane was too good for this world, GCPD's got nothing on her killer. A useless lot they are." She commented, getting upset. Sophie held her hands tightly.

"I know this must be hard, you knew her longer then I did. I'm so sorry." Sophie said, kissing her cheek, holding her.

Julia wiped her face. "All that matters now is finding them. We should allow Luke our resources. In this case, he's one of the brightest people I know. If anyone gets Kate's murderer, it'll be him."

"I'll talk to Jacob about it later." She said weakly.

With Jacob, he was approaching Bruce Wayne.

"You come back to Gotham and get my daughter killed!" Jacob shouted, grabbing him.

"Nice to see you, too, Jacob."

"Kate's dead! Saving your sorry life no less, and you don't seem to give a damn!"

"Believe it or not, Jacob. I'm quite torn up about our dear Kate's departure. I just can keep my emotions in check!" Wayne replied.

"Why did you come back now?"

"It seems like an exciting time in Gotham city. Why wouldn't I want to come back? Heard a lot has been going on."

"Your timing led to my daughter's death."

"For all, you know the killer would've struck at some other point."

"Maybe they were after you and made a mistake killing Kate!" Jacob started raising his voice again.

"I'll help you find them."

"Oh, really? How's a rich boy like you going to get this done? You never get your hands dirty, could even comprehend doing that could you?"

"You shouldn't underestimate me, Jacob."

Sophie, Luke and Julia came over.

Julia spoke up. "Bruce? Why did you not say you were returning to Gotham?"

He hesitated. "Did not find it necessary to inform you."

She scoffed. "Really? Where's my father? He went with you, right?"

"Yes, of course, Afried's fine, and he was just fine staying put, no need to worry. I'm not likely to be in Gotham for long, perhaps longer now." He responded and looked away.

Julia turned to Sophie and Jacob and whispered. "Maybe we should leave, not get in the police's way. We've got personal stakes in this, could cloud our judgment."

"No. I'm not letting anyone screw this up," Jacob said. "The GCPD is corrupted, what if they tamper with her body?"

"You two take Kate's body, make sure she's-" Julia paused. "I'll take Fox and Wayne out of here. Deal with this later once the emotions drop."

"I agree with her," Sophie said.

Jacob gave in and nodded.

"Wait!" Luke finally spoke up. "Who's going to tell Mary?"

Jacob's face dropped completely. "I will. In-person, later. Tell her to wait at Crows Headquarters and don't say anything, wait for her there." Luke mournfully nodded.

Before they all parted ways, Sophie went to Julia. "How are you so calm? You knew Kate longer than I did."

"Luv, I watched so many of my people die. I've had to go undercover, pretending to be characters who were fine with horrific acts being committed before their eyes. Kate's death is just another in a long line of them. It's breaking me apart inside."

They get close to one another, comforting each other.

"I'm sorry for thinking otherwise. This, it's making me question our surroundings. I haven't realized how fragile everything is. I thought Kate Kane was unkillable."

"I know we'll talk more later. I'm so sorry, Sophie."

They parted ways, driving in separate directions.

Sophie and Jacob rod with Kate's body to the morgue, they left her face out so they could look at her. They said nothing to one another on the drive that seemed endless. Memories went through their minds, the good and the bad. It all seemed much more impactful now.

"Sir, where will Kate be buried?" Sophie asked.

"I'm not sure. With her mother, she will be less lonely. Hope they're in a better place, reconnecting, happy."

"I hope so, too, sir," Sophie replied, holding Kate's hand.

Jacob sighed. "Wish I could've taken the bullet for her. Parents are not meant to outlive their children. Now it's happened to me twice, decades apart. What are the odds?"

"Horrible odds, sir, I would've taken the bullet for her too."

"Wouldn't want you to. Don't want either of you to die. I've not said it enough, maybe not at all. I think of you as family Sophie, and I know she did too." Jacob said, looking at Sophie for the first time since entering the vehicle.

"Thank you, I feel the same. You're the father I never had." She replied.

Julia drove Bruce and Luke to The Crow HQ.

Bruce and Julia said nothing during the drive, Luke, during it had to think of ways to not tip of Mary. Lying would be hard since they grew closer, it felt like a breach of trust. Still, Jacob Kane asked for this and hearing about it from the family would be the best. Once they pulled into the building and got out, Luke stayed behind in the parking area, calling Mary to tell her to come.

"Mary." Luke began saying. She immediately could tell something was wrong somehow.

"What happened? Is Kate okay? I go nap for one minute, and the whole world collapses!" She exclaimed.

"Mary, just please come to Crow HQ, and I'll explain more of what's going on."

"Have me a small clue." She mounded. "I hate surprises."

"So do I," Luke replied. "I'm sorry, can't talk about it over the phone."

She sighed. "Fine, on the way."

Julia came back out. "What are you thinking of telling her?"

"What do you mean?" Luke responded a little jumpy.

"She's a motor mouth. You are going to have to account for that."

He scoffed. "You think I'm going to let slip oh yeah Kate's dead, saving The Batman. Who uncharacteristically did not save himself and get her killed and does not give a damn."

"Something like that."

"I'm worried about Bruce. If it's really him. I'm skeptical."

"Your mind is playing tricks. These things happen after traumatic events, start to question every becoming hyper-aware of every little detail. Take a minute and breath. Jacob will keep him copped up in Crow HQ for the time being, we can figure this out after we get past, Kate. If that would even be possible."

"Your right. I'm panicked. Always am."

"You will get over it, Luke, you've grown, and I know you will continue to. Kate would want that and to not be devastated over her death for long. She'll want us to move on. It'll be hard, but we have to."

"Yeah, these obvious thoughts are not coming into my mind. Everything that pops up is messy, jumbled. That's the adrenalin."

"Look, recognizing that is an excellent initial step." She patted his shoulder and went off again.

"Gotta keep an eye on Bruce, just in case. Call me if you need me." She said to him before leaving.

Luke sat alone and waited for Mary. He began to think of excuses as his mind began to clear, trying to distance the thoughts of Kate.

Sophie and Jacob went with Kate's body, following it to the morgue. Every step felt like forever, and yet they still reached their destination. Now they had to part. Together they went to the coroner and threatened him if he disrespected Kate in any way. His life would come to a horrific end if she was at all screwed with. With that, they waited for more Crows to show up and left. Now having to deal with informing Mary and protecting Bruce Wayne.

They went back to Crows HQ and ran into Mary as she had just gotten there around the same time. She was always a little slow.

Sophie and Jacob brought her inside the office. Once she saw Luke's face as he came towards her, she knew what happened and proceeded to breakdown. Sophie and Jacob comforted her as she cried her eyes out. Luke felt so horrible watching her collapse, realizing what happened to Kate. He went away and hid in the bathroom, having a panic attack.

Mary's tears stopped going down, and she questioned what happened.

"She died for that spoiled rich boy!" She exclaimed, upset. "We were bonding, and he comes back and gets her killed. Don't know why I'm surprised. I can't believe this if I could get my hands on the-"

"You should sit down, Mary," Jacob said, helping her sit in a chair.

"I just can't believe it, I want Kate back. Wait, my blood. My blood can cure anything, could it cure death?"

Jacob and Sophie looked at each other concerned.

"Mary, you don't have magic blood. Are you okay?" Sophie asked.

"Of course, I don't have magic blood, but it's a universal cure! Maybe it could cure death."

"That's impossible, Mary, come on. I'm bringing you to the med bay." Sophie said, helping her up.

"I'm not crazy!"

Jacob helped Sophie bring Mary away as she got more aggressive.

Bruce Wayne watched all this unfolding, not giving a normal reaction to the situation at hand. He kept to himself watching this happen. With all the distractions going on, Wayne slipped away intent on doing something secret.

The man sneaked into Jacob Kane's office and installed bugs inside the walls, so everything spoken could be heard. Nothing would be kept a secret from him if has way was had.

The next day.

Alice walked around Gotham city, keeping a low profile. She had nothing left to her name. All the resources amassed were gone, including her Mouse. Her last gamble would still be up in the air if it would work out. Now she roamed the grimy streets of Gotham City, hoping to stumble into something that could assist her in killing Batwoman.

She walked down an alleyway confidently. A couple of muggers approached, which was a mistake that wouldn't have long to regret.

"What's a fine thing like you doing out here?" One asked before she turned around, cutting his throat open.

"A nice stroll through this delightful alleyway. Oh and I had an itch that needed to be scratched, you see I have a lot of rage bottled up, my life has been a long sad tale. And believe it or not, blood-soaked messes bring me joy!" She said to the second man, who appeared to realize her identity. He pleaded for his life.

"I'm so sorry about your sister!" He cried, getting on his knee.

"My sister?" She put the knife to his left eye. "Do tell of my dear sister. What happened?"

"She, she was killed." The man said softly.

"What! By whom? I'll rip their head off!" Alice shouted.

"I, I don't know. Please don't kill me, I'll help you get them I swear!" The man shouted.

Alice shrugged her shoulders. "Why not, what might your name be?

"Moe, Moe Blum."

"Well, well, Moe Blum. I shall come up with a name for you, not right now, of course. For now, as your first assignment, take me back to your lair. Your late partner must have had one?"

"Yes, the bad man had one. Always was so mean to me, said he'd kill me if I did not assist him. Always living on the streets has this happen."

"Fear not Moe. Behave, and I'll have no reason to kill you."

"Thank you, Alice! I'm excited to work for a real villain of Gotham!"

"You flatter me. Now show me our temporary land."

"Of course, Miss Alice."

She smirked as he looked over, however when he looked away from her face, it changed. Having heard the news of Kate's death left an effect, Alice wouldn't admit to herself. A feeling of emptiness filled her. Mouse was gone, now her sister. Wanting to kill her was just a bluff, something to hold against Kate, who chose to protect the city over being sisters again.

Deep down, Alice knew they could be together somehow. Now she was dead, it was going to be impossible. Only in Wonderland could that be true, and that would be a long way away if ever. Now all that was left to be done was revenge, a far too familiar feeling for her.

Sophie woke up with Julia, leaving each other alone did not seem appropriate for right now. They did not act romantic toward each other in respect for Kate, both women being her ex's after all.

Julia made breakfast for them both. Her emotions were still locked up as she wanted to be there for Sophie. Who came out to find her cooking up a nice meal.

"You don't have to do this."

"I do, Luv, I'm worried about you, and you gotta keep your body healthy."

"Thanks, Julia, I've never had anyone do this for me," Sophie said, gratefully putting her arms around her girlfriend.

She smiled and said. "Neither have I and don't expect it much more. I'm not that kind of woman. Sorry."

"I get that. I'm pleased just to have you doing this."

"How are you feeling?"

"How do you think?" Sophie asked.

"Missing Kate."

"Everything feels different, but not at the same time. It's hard to explain."

"I get what you're saying. Know the feeling, it hurts. Will for a long time, but somehow we always find a way to heal."

"I know your right, but my mind can't jump to that conclusion."

"Differences between logic and emotion. It's a fine line between the two, I can tell you're trying to get somewhere in the middle. Hard task, but noble. That's a beautiful part of you, Sophie."

"Thank you." She blushed.

Julia switched topics. "What is Jacob doing about her service and Bruce Wayne?"

"It'll happen in a week's time, and I've got no clue."

"Well, as discussed, your staying home and don't touch the liquor. It'll only extend the length of this pain. I've got to figure out what Wayne's doing because after we're like family in a way.

"Wait-" Sophie tried saying before she left. "No manners," Sophie muttered to herself and ate up her breakfast. The woman was upset now that she would be alone dealing with the grief. It wasn't ideal, but there was nobody to call and nowhere to go. She sat down on her couch. Watching tv was an idea until she recalled one did not exist in the apartment. "Chill time" as some people called it, wasn't something she experienced at all. So she laid down in bed, as she did thoughts of Kate and memories haunted the mind, so that wasn't an option either. All that desired the woman's brain were thoughts of inflicting pain upon the killer or killers. Punching a wall would be nice too.

The thoughts of Kate continued, and Batwoman.

Elsewhere, Jacob stayed with Mary. They both had terrible rests, she was so dramatized it came down to being sedated.

Mary caught her stepdad, praying for her before she awoke. Once this happened, the vulnerability shown vanished, and Jacob returned to his normal state.

"How are you?" He asked, getting near Mary.

"Tell me last night was a dream, and I'll be feeling great." She replied.

"Wish that I could. So sorry, Mary."

"She's dead then? No, take backs. Promise me you've got the person who did or at least have a lead!"

"We've got nothing, could have another leak somewhere. I'm going to find who did this personally, even if it would require kicking in every door and ruffling every feather in the city. Kate will be avenged." Jacob said, determined with rage filling his voice and body.

Elsewhere in The Crows Headquarters, Bruce was avoiding Luke, which tipped him off further. Something was wrong. Finally, he was able to catch up with him.

"Bruce, what's going on?" Luke asked, bewildered. "I want to help you, why are you cutting me out?"

"It's simple, Luke, you betrayed. I gave you everything, and you gave it to Kate you never even met her before, have you? How would your dad feel about all you've done. Think he'd be upset, disappointed. Bet he'd even roll in his grave." Bruce whispered with his voice changing.

"You're not Bruce!" Luke shouted, tackling him.

"Get this man off me!" Bruce cried out as Crow agents pulled Luke off, detaining him. "I want that man arrested!" He shouted.

"No! That's not Bruce Wayne! He's an imposter!" Luke shouted as The Crows pulled him away.

"Are you arresting him!?" Bruce asked furiously.

"No, sir." An agent said.

"Why the hell not! That man assaulted me!" He roared.

"Sir, you both are likely experiencing grief from Ms. Kane's death, which is making you both feel irrational. Which would have lead to that fight." The agent said calmly and firmly.

"How are you?"

"Agent Hancock, sir. I'm very observant."

"Right." Bruce scoffed. "How about you just keep him until the young man has calmed down a little bit?"

"That seems like a poor idea, sir." Agent Hancock said.

Bruce sighed. "Fine, if you say so, Hancock." He nearly said in a mocking tone before stopping himself. "Could I apologize? I feel bad now. You're a very wise agent."

"Thank you, sir, but no, I can't let you do that. We will bring Mr. Fox home, and you will need to continue to stay put."

Bruce got angry but was able to keep it self contained. He nodded and walked away only to get pulled aside by someone.

"It's about time." He said to the person.

Luke went back to the cave after being escorted home. All of Kate's gear was still how it was left. Standing alone in the cave was challenging, knowing now the Bat was gone again. Bruce wasn't the real man, just an imposter who was fooling everyone. Thomas Elliot was the most likely candidate after some thought. Perhaps it was all a scheme from Alice or his own plans. To what ends?

Maybe it was all paranoia. Still, Luke figured it would be best to secure the Batcave just in case of whatever was going on. Now only Mary could be trusted to protect the secrets of the cave and Kate's identity.

He reluctantly called Mary as his worry grew more and more.

"Hello?" She said softly and weakly.

"Mary, I'm so sorry about this. I need your help, we've got a huge problem." Luke said quickly.

"Oh great, now what! Is my mother a zombie? Or faked her death and is planning on killing us all. Maybe an evil Kate?" She said, sounding annoyed.

Luke put his head in his hands. "Mary, this is super serious. Bruce is a phony, we have to lock him out or-"

"Come on! A phony? Really? Just tell my dad and have him arrested! Or I will he'll listen to me. He dislikes Wayne anyways, so pissing him off if it's really him would still work. Now calm down and go home. Morn Kate like I am and screw the cave." She hung up and went to tell Jacob to deal with Bruce Wayne.

Luke walked around the cave, looking at Kate's gear one last time before going to the computer. He shut down everything, just like the real Bruce did on his final days as Batman. It was the end of a short era, Batwoman was dead, and now Gotham's future was in question.

Sophie called Mary after she informed Jacob about everything going on. He charged off to mess up Bruce's experience in Gotham, further placing him under arrest, temporary as he pointed out needing a lawyer or there would be hell to pay.

Sophie told Mary to come to her apartment as they had something important to discuss.

Getting there, Mary hoped it was about finding Kate's killer, it was not.

Sophie let her in and immediately said. "Kate was Batwoman."

Mary played dumb, trying to hide the truth as it would've been what Kate likely wanted.

"I-I can't believe that! How could she be Batwoman? And how wouldn't we know that!? That's insane, Sophie!" Mary exclaimed.

Sophie nodded in disagreement. "No. I know it was her. I'm an idiot for never realizing the truth. She was right in front of me all along. Looking into her eyes that first night, I should have known, but I couldn't see it maybe didn't want to believe it. Later, I figured it out, and she used Julia as a double all to trick me. She lied to me. To my face multiple times, I kissed her and felt her lips but wouldn't want to see that, the lies. She used me. Manipulated me. Pretended to be someone else to get with me. I'm hurt Kate and Julia would lie to me, trick me. All for what? Because I couldn't be trusted. Thought they cared about me, Mary." Sophie said, sitting down with tears running down her face.

Mary joined her. "It's worse than that. I knew she was Batwoman. Only a couple of months now for sure, but just now, I lied to you. I'm so sorry, I thought she'd want that but, she's gone, and it's time I make decisions that help others besides Kate."

Sophie wiped her tears, getting up, looking at Mary. Seeming upset. Instead, she hugged her, saying, "Thank you for telling the truth, Mary."

They let go. "Well, I'm pretty good at that sometimes," Mary said with a hint of joy. Feeling better, she could get that off her chest.

"Now what?" Sophie asked.

Mary seemed confused. "What do you mean?"

"Batwoman, Kate's gone, but the identity can't die. She gave his city hope that an ordinary woman was putting herself in danger, doing things the law wouldn't allow. Kate inspired people to be there best self. If she goes away like Batman did, the city would never recover. Not to mention people could connect the dots of Kate and Batwoman being the same person."

Mary looked shocked as the wheels in her brain turned realizing Sophie was very much correct. "Oh my god. Great, I'm going to have to brainstorm with Luke." Mary accidentally said aloud.

"Luke Fox was involved? Makes sense, figured as much. Would've clued in if I thought longer, It's amazing what can happen when I take a break, rest my mind."

"Whoops. Didn't mean to mention Luke, but no more lies, right?"

"Right. Can I help to keep Batwoman alive?"

"I mean, sure why not. I'll bring you to the Batcave. Luke won't listen to me, and he'll still be there I bet, nob-

"She had a Batcave?"

"Kate technically borrowed it from Batman or stole it. Does it really matter that much?" Mary asked, shaking her head. "We need to avenge her, that's all that matters."

"Fine, I stop asking questions for now. Rest assured, I'm going to have more, and you two better have answers."

"And Julia." Mary paused. "I need to stop talking."

"It's fine, Mary, now let's go to this cave."

Sophie and Mary went on their way.

Elsewhere in Gotham, a crew of people were approaching the docks in a large ship. Security came to check out what was going on, as this was unusual.

"Hey! Identify yourselves!" One cried, pulling a gun as they docked.

Another was attempting to call the police, but the line was dead. As we're all the security. When they turned, all their bloody bodies were seen.

"I surrender!" The last person shouted, dropping their gun and putting their hands up in the air. "Please! I give up! Don't kill me." They shouted.

A woman walked towards them. "Don't fear, we won't kill you. We need a messenger, after all, someone to explain what happened. What's come to this ratchet city."

"What, what are you talking about? Who are you?"

"My name is irrelevant, the ones in charge will find it regardless. I'm here to save Gotham, but that requires blood to be split. People will need to die for things to change. The revolution begins today." She stopped for a second, looking upon her crew, pulling out everything aboard the ship.

"Tell those who question you, the island nation of Coryana says hello."

Hello again all, I hope that lived up to your expectations. I'm excited to share this despite the fact I'm playing a risky move by trying to appease two different camps. It's hard to tell me how this will go. I'd be shocked if I made anyone happy lol. Cries

I don't know if this will be well written or if somehow could be worse then Batwoman's writing or just a minor improvement. Just to keep in mind for you all, I'm a single white 20-year-old who has no real writing experience other than high school and loads of videos on youtube regarding writing. I'm not a professional who gets paid for this, I don't have editors, someone to manage the entire show, etc. Not to mention I'm younger than all the adults who wrote the show. This shouldn't be an excuse, but it's important to note. If this was trash, I'm sorry for wasting your time.

If you're continuing to read this end part, I'm assuming you enjoyed it somehow. Thank you for that. I hope you will continue to enjoy the story as it progresses. This will end up being 22/23 chapters for ep count to be consistent. If this is well received, expect a season 3 building off this. If not, I'll still write this to the end and give a definitive ending. This is due to I wouldn't want to abandon this ride and leave it to crash. Even if it's on fire.

I hope you're all well and safe. Those words really mean nothing anymore, which is quite unfortunate. To quote my favourite show out of context, don't take that too seriously for anyone who gets it. "It's an exciting time in the world. An exciting time." Another quote from the show would work better, but this is T rated. (:
