This story might not be what you're expecting.

When Peter was little, his family was in an accident that claimed the lives of his sister, and his mother.

Batman appeared and tried to help, but their car went over leaving him and his sister Kate as the only survivors.

The only reason that Peter or his other sister Kate didn't go with them was because she was the first to get out of the car...along with her baby brother.

Kate saved his life that day.

A one year old Peter, is in his car seat with Kate and Beth in the car with their mother driving.

"Let's take a picture." Young Kate said to Beth.

Kate moves so Peter was in the camera so they can take a picture together. But before they could take the picture, a bus crashed into their car's rear and sends them dangling off a cliff.

Beth rushes to her mother trying to wake her up with Peter injured and crying.

"Wake up please Mom!" Beth yelled, seeing she was knocked unconscious by the airbag.

Beth and Kate turned to see Batman as he shoots grapple guns at the car's bumper.

"Batman's here, he's going to save us!" Kate cheered.

Batman just sets up two grapples to hold the car and ran away.

"Batman where are you going? Wait!" Kate asked and cried out as the caped crusader ran off.

Kate later climbed out of the car with Peter in her arms while Beth tried to wake their mother.

"Beth, grab my hand." Kate told her twin.

Beth tried to crawl to her sister, but then the bumper snapped off the rest of the car, sending them into the river.

"Mom! Beth! No!" Kate yelled, holding her baby brother as he cries.

Peter got several broken ribs that day. Everyone said it was a miracle he survived at that age with the injuries. However, he has spent most of his life with lung problems causing him to have asthma problems.

A nerd with glasses, asthma, and was a sci-fi geek. Yeah, he not exactly the most popular kid in the school.

Then when he was fifteen and was on a field trip, he was bitten by a radioactive spider, causing him to get sick. The next few days, his lungs were healed like nothing happened, he didn't need his glasses, and as a bonus got a six pack.

When he started showing he had powers, Bruce Wayne, his cousin, decided to train him to use his powers and even gave him his own suit and identity; Spider-Man.

He never told his father, Jacob Kane, his stepmother (but he doesn't know that) Catherine Hamilton, his stepsister (again, he doesn't know that) Mary Hamilton, and Kate has been all over the world, training with specialists all over the world so she can join the Crows. A security detail made to keep people safe better than the Gotham City police department.

Jacob asked everyone not to talk about the accident around Peter so he didn't learn about it like that. Peter doesn't remember the accident, anything to do with it and Jacob promised to tell him what happened soon.

But three years ago, Bruce just left. No explanation, no notes, he just left.

Spider-Man never really got put into action since then. He never finished his training, so he gave up for now.

Present day

"Earth to Peter." Someone calls Peter out and he sees Michelle Jones. Probably the only person in the school that'll acknowledge his existence. "I was talking to you."

"Yeah, sorry. I got lost." Peter replies as he closes his locker.

"I noticed." Michelle agrees. "What are you thinking so hard about?"

"Just...the ceremony tonight." Peter lies, referring to the turning off of the Bat Signal for good. "You don't think Batman gave up on the city, do you?"

"I mean, nobody has seen him in three years." Michelle shrugs. "I had to guess he just upped and left." She says while walking away.

"Great talking to you, as always." Peter muttered to himself and heads out to head for the ceremony.

He knows Bruce hasn't given up on the city, but he also knows Batman isn't coming back anytime soon. And the city is seeing that as well.

At the ceremony that night, his father Jacob and his Crow's team checking the perimeter to keep everyone safe as their are also protesters who believe the signal should be left on because it's a beacon of hope to the people of Gotham.

Mary and Catherine arrive in a Crow transport truck for safety and make their way up to start the ceremony as Peter meets up with Mary.

"Hey, Pete, so how was school?" Mary asked her stepbrother.

"Well, you know. Always the same old, same old." Peter tells her.

"Flash still picking on you?" Mary guessed.

"Yeah." Peter said with a sigh as Mary is beginning her speech before they turn off the signal for good.

"Why don't you stand up to him?" Mary wonders.

"Oh, I could easily beat him, but what's the point? He'll just pick on someone who can't defend themselves." Peter explains to her, since he could take a few stupid attempts of name calling from Flash as the ceremony begins.

"Ladies and gentlemen, tonight is about reality." Mary starts off her speech. "Batman gave up on us. It's been three years, Gotham. The Bat's not coming back."

Peter wishes he could say how wrong she was. Batman would return some day...because Bruce would return some day, but he knew better than to say anything. Especially when his senses go off and he wonders what's going on for them to go off. They've been dormant for three years, so for them to suddenly go off seems irregular.

"Mayor Akins, help us say goodbye to Gotham's outdated tradition." Mary continues and Peter ignores his senses, seeing that the Crows are everywhere and will be able to keep them safe. "It's time to turn off the signal."

"Together, I invite you to gaze out at the Bat Signal one last time." Mayor Akins says and Peter overhears his father say something is up with the cameras. "Let's start the countdown. Ten..."

"Nine." Everyone says in sync and continues to count down. But when they reached one, nothing happened when some blonde woman appeared on the screen.

"Hello, said Alice. Shall we believe the Crows will protect us?" The blonde asks and it sounds like she's quoting something. "Well, I believe six impossible things before breakfast. Do you feel safe behind these security gates? Ha ha! Because one of you won't be going home tonight. The crows are not the hero of this story, Gotham. Batman couldn't save you, and neither...will...they." She leaves but pushes the camera over and reveals a dead Crow member.

"Get these people out of here now." Jacob tells the Crows as he leads Mary, Peter, and Catherine away.

Peter tries to keep up with them, but then someone grabs him and pulls him away from the others.

"Dad!" Peter yelled as he tries to pry himself free, not using his super strength.

One of the gang member's wearing a rabbit mask begins to drag Peter into the van when Jacob Kane sees it and tries to run after them.

"Peter!" Jacob yelled.

"Let me go!" Peter tells them as he's thrown in the van.

It was too late when the door of the van slammed and took off just as Jacob Kane reached them.

On the rooftop, Sophie spotted a member of the crew and went after him.

She raced him across the roof and began to fight him when he pulled out a knife but was soon overpowered.

He throws Sophie off the roof as she lands on a sheet as they drag her over to another van as she tries to fight them off but they knock her out.

Artic

Kate was training around the world with survivalists and was taking a break when her teacher walks in with news and a phone in his hand.

"Call for you." He said "Girl who talks too much."

Kate takes the phone and sees its already answered. "Hello?" She asked.

"Kate, it's Mary." Mary tells her. "Your step-sister."

"Mary, our parents have been married for over a decade. I know who you are." Kate reminded her.

"Oh. Okay. You have to swear you won't tell anyone I'm telling you this." Mary warns her.

"Mary, what is it?" Kate asks, getting a bit worried.

"Sophie and Peter are missing. Someone took them. I just...I just thought you should know." Mary tells her.

Kate starts to fear for her brother and knows she needs to go back to Gotham earlier than expected.

Gotham

Peter wakes up as someone pulls off the rag that was placed on his head and comes face to face with the blonde from the ceremony swinging a knife around in her hands, and he sees he's tied in a chair facing her.

"Do you people ever wash those rags?" Peter asked as he quickly tried to use his normal strength to get out of the ropes, wondering how strong they tied it.

"There's no need to panic, little one." The blonde said in a soothing voice, only creeping Peter out more.

"Who are you?" Peter asked, confused to why she's acting this way towards him. Also, why the hell did this crazy kidnap him above everyone else?

"Oh, silly me. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Alice." She introduced herself to Peter with a bow, only confusing him more. "And I know everything about you, Peter."

He takes a second and starts to understand the name Alice, the animal masks, he's gonna make the assumption she's a fan of Alice in Wonderland.

A psychopath with a theme. Great. The Joker was bad enough.

"Why am I here?" Peter questions her.

"Because I need you for a big part of my plan." Alice explained to him.

"What plan?" Peter asks.

"Let's not get into that right now." Alice says as she walks up to Peter and kneels down to face him. "I'm curious, do you remember the accident that you were in that claimed the lives of your darlin' mother and sister?" She asked as she leans closer to Peter, making him very uncomfortable.

"I don't know what accident you're talking. They're alive." Peter told her, completely confused to what she's saying.

"Oh dear." Alice realizes as she sees he doesn't understand what she's talking about. "Your father never told you, did he?"

"What are you talking about?" Peter asked her.

"You see, Catherine...isn't your real mother." Alice told him.

Peter looks at Alice, confused to how she knows this and why she cares.

"Your real mother died in a car accident along with your other sister." Alice continues.

Peter suddenly broke out of his restraints and pushes Alice to a wall, squeezing her throat.

"I don't believe you!" Peter states, angrily. Knowing all she's trying to do is get into his head.

"Oh, sadly, this is the truth, Peter. You were just so little that you don't remember." Alice told him and Peter was about to ask how she knows all these things about him, his life, and his family, and why she even cares when one of her men hit Peter in the head with a board.

"Didn't think that there was so much fight in him." Alice said as she regains her breath and kneels down to Peter's unconscious form. "I'm sorry you had to find out this way, my little brother." She told him, sympathetically while caressing his hair. "Tie him with something stronger this time." She tells the man who knocked him out.

Crows HQ

"Crows represent order, security, safety. These monsters long for the good, old days when gangs ran around unchecked." Jacob says as they show the three people they found on the people. "They spread fear by saying, look at us. We can get a Crow, we can get your wife, your kid." He lists, angry at himself for not being able to protect Peter. "Where are we with surveillance?"

"Afraid it doesn't exist, sir." They tell him.

"Find them, anyway you can. We need to bring them home." Jason tells them and walks to the door to see Kate.

"Hey, dad." Kate greets him.

"Come here, kiddo." Jason says and Kate hugs her father. "So, you heard?"

"Yeah, I know." Kaye says.

Later, Kate went over everything they had and it wasn't a lot.

"I didn't have cream, but please tell me you kicked that vegan thing." Jason asks as she sees he has coffee.

"I wish you called." Kate tells him.

"We're gonna finds them." Jason promises.

"Then let me help." Kate replies, wanting to help find her brother.

"Neck tattoo. That's new." Jason comments.

"Dad, I'm ready to come home and work for you." Kate tells him.

"Air, mayor's on two." Dogson tells Jason. "He's talking about canceling the movie in the park."

"Tell him I'll be right there." Jason says and focuses on Kate.

"Do you know who took them?" Kate asks.

"Ruthless, spineless maniacs who frankly don't stand a chance against a team of ex-navy seals and green berets." Jason says and nods to everyone in the room.

"And what about me?" Kate asks.

"You take after your cousin." Jason replies. "You're a female Bruce Wayne, but unlike him, you actually have a shot at making something of your life."

"Bruce was the one person who was there for me after Mom and Beth died. Who was there to watch over Peter while I was gone." Kate reminds him. "Let me help the Crows fond them."

"It's great to see you, but I got to take this call." Jason avoids the conversation and leaves to talk to the mayor.

Kate sees she's not going to get anywhere at the headquarters and heads for the one place that has eyes everywhere.

Wayne Enterprises.

With the entrances boarded up, she sneaks up the side and into Bruce's old office and someone comes in with a gun while she searched the desk.

"Step away from the desk!" He tells Kate as she grabs a paperclip off the desk and raises her hands. "Wayne security."

"Not to tell you how to do your job, mr.."

"Luke." He tells her while handcuffing Kate.

"Luke, but your boss is my cousin." Kate informs him.

"You think you're the first squatter I've met related to Bruce Wayne?" Luke asks her.

"I'm Kate Kane. I practically grew up here, and Bruce was like my fun, irresponsible big brother." Kate says as Luke drags her out of the office.

"Okay. When's his birthday?" Luke asks.

"February 19."

"Middle name?"

"Trick question. Doesn't have one."

"Favorite soup?"

"It's weird that you know that."

Luke goes to the security room and uses the eye scanner to enter. "If you're Bruce's cousin, you would know no one's heard from him in almost three years." He brings her into the monitor room and calls the cops.

"Bruce gave me a great piece of advice once. Grow into the person you needed as a kid." Kate says.

"That's great. Police are on their way." Luke tells her.

"Turns out the person I needed as a kid, can do this." Kate continues and takes the cuffs off and handcuffs Luke to the servers.

With him out of the way, she take the keys from him and goes to the computers.

"Password's still Alfred? Should really change that." Kate tells him and finds the footage of their abductions.

"What are you doing?" Luke asks.

"What the Crows are unable to do." Kate says and download the footage on a hard drive. "I'm gonna find you, Peter." She promises as she watches how well he put up a fight against his abductors and is surprised how well he fought.

She waits for the download and then leaves to show her father, hoping to find something on where they're being held and who is holding them.
