The Jewelled Heavens

The shining stars bedazzle me

And weave their spell upon my soul

Each one a jewel firmly placed

On cloth as cold and black as coal

/\/\/\

My eyes look up into the heights

And search the silent realm of space

Are we alone on this great orb?

Are we the only living place?

/\/\/\

Man's enterprise made him reach out

To conquer earth and sky and moon

And Enterprise he named the dream

That he would conquer space – oh soon!

/\/\/\

I wish – and in that moment know

That I am not unique, alone

The jewelled heaven's smile a promise

The unknown shall be known.
