3When was it? That I realized I like Kageyama. Was it when he buys me a meat bun after school? When he awkwardly praised me when I did good in a game? When he noticed I was down when nobody did?
Hinata sighed as he pick up the ball scattered on the gym. He and Yamaguchi are assigned clean up the gym before leaving. They are putting the mops on the storage room when Yamaguchi can't help but ask.
"You've been sighing all day, did you fight with Kageyama?" He asked, he saw how Hinata was kind of avoiding Kageyama all throughout the week. Poor Kageyama is in a bad mood thinking why the dumbass is not talking to him.
"Not really. It's just something I'm thinking about."Hinata said as he went out to get the remaining mops. Yamaguchi stayed in his place.
"Really? I think even Kageyama knows you're avoiding him. I saw him glaring at you earlier." He chuckled as he remembers the face of the setter.
"It's just, i realized something and it's.. I don't know, complicated?" Hinata said as he closed the door of the storage room and sat his back against the door.
Yamaguchi did the same thing. He saw how different Hinata this week was, even though he looks normal, he's pretty quiet compared to his normal days that you can see, even Suga-san, looking worried.
"You can tell me. It will stay between the two of us" Yamaguchi told Hinata. He noticed how Hinata kind of tensed and was thinking whether to tell him or not.
"Well.. you know, you might not like it. But recently I figured.. I kinda like someone" he mumbled, his face with a ting of pink. He was looking on the floor and playing with his fingers.
"So it was Kageyama?" He asked. He can see how Hinata pout and nods subtly.
Yamaguchi can't believe how cute Hinata looked and ruffled his hair.
"Why don't you tell him? We'll never know till you tried, right?"
"Well, I am afraid of rejection. I'm undecided right now." He laughed as usual while he is scratching his head.
We were interrupted when Daichi-san opened the door on the gym.
"HINATA! YAMAGUCHI! GO HOME, IT'S LATE. WE HAVE TO CLOSE THE GYM!"
After closing the gym, we went to the club room to grab our things and left. Daichi-san and Suga-san in front of the two first year. Yamaguchi suddenly gave him a coin.
"What is this for?" Hinata asked.
"Well, I thought, if you're undecided why don't you toss a coin. Head for yes, Tail for no. If it's meant to be, it will be, right?" Yamaguchi said smiling a little
Hinata put the coin in his bag thinking about what he said..
Lying in his bed, with Yamaguchi's coin in his hand, he's been thinking if he should do what Yamaguchi suggested. His stomach is aching thinking about getting rejected. He shook his head, nothing will happen until he tried. He sat on the bed and tried tossing the coin.
He calmed himself first before tossing the coin the last time. He noted, Head for yes, Tail for no. His heart beating faster as the coin falls on the back of his right hand, the left hand covering it. He suddenly felt cold.
"Wow, I am more nervous here than when we fought with the Grand King" he said trying to calm himself.
"Well.. may the odds be in my favor" He took a peak on the coin and released the breath he didn't know he held. he sighed and went back to bed and tried his best to sleep
"DUMBASS HINATA! Why do you look like that?" Hinata was shocked when Kageyama appeared beside him and hit his head.
"THAT HURTS BAKAYAMA! ALSO THIS IS NOTHING, I PLAYED GAMES WITH KENMA LAST NIGHT" He shouts at Kageyama sipping on his milk again. Kageyama just made face at what he said when he suddenly ran shouting
"RACE TO THE CLUBROOM! THE LAST ONE HAVE TO BUY 3 MEAT BUNS"
"HEY! YOU CHEATING DUMBASS!" Hinata laughed while Kageyama runs after him.
Hinata is gasping for air when they arrived at the club room. He glanced at Kageyama, hands on his knees and also have a trouble breathing. He was on the upper part of the stairs and Kageyama was 5 steps lower.
"You won! Cheating Dumbass!" Kageyama mumbled still trying to breathe. A thought suddenly passed his mind, How Kageyama is still looking fine even when he's sweating.
He shook his head.
"Oiiiii. You, two stop with your competitions." Tanaka-senpai with Suga-san said playing with the keys just behind them. They passed by the two of them and opened the club room, the two followed inside.
"Oi Dumbass! You're okay now?" Kageyama suddenly asked after changing. Nothing really changed on his expression.
"As always! Why wouldn't I be?" He asked back. Kageyama looked at the ceiling, thinking but shrugged after a few minutes.
"You're being weird these days." He mumbled.
"MAYBE YOU'RE THE ONE BEING WEIRD!" Hinata said loudly, feeking a little defensive, Kageyama glared at him, opening his mouth but before he can speak Tsukki, Yamaguchi and Noya-san came.
"Ohhh the King is here " Tsukishima smugly said, obviously provoking Kageyama. The other easily provoked glared at the tall teammate.
While the two is talking, if you call that talking. Yamaguchi poke his arms and told him to go outside. He followed as instructed.
They were walking side by side when Yamaguchi whispered.
"So? What are your plans?"
"Well.. I did what you said. And it says Tails, so no for now. But it helped me calm down.. somehow" Hinata said and Yamaguchi was nodding when he heard something that Tsukishima said
"Oi shrimpy! You heard? King was confessed to by someone from Yachi's class." He said on his high horse, looking smug. Hinata suddenly felt his chest tightening, what a nice timing. Tsukishima was looking as if he knows about his feelings and thoughts.
Kageyama appeared beside him, glaring at Tsukishima. "Whateverbyou're talking about, I'm not interested." He said and run to the gym.
"HEY, YOU'RE CHEATING!" Hinata runs after him feeling a little better after hearing what the setter said.
The two of them did good as usual on their practice. Hinata was praticing receiving and setting, while Kageyama was tossing to didn't notice the time until Daichi told them the one scheduled to clean the gym was Kageyama and Tsukishima.
The two of them groaned, while the higher year laughed, knowing how much they despised each other's guts.
"Hey guys, don't fight while cleaning, okay?" Noya-senpai said
"I don't want to break a fight again, okay?" Tanaka-senpai said getting ready to leave.
"Actually, I think I can accompany Tsukki. Since I have something I need to get at their house"Yamaguchi suddenly said. Tsukishima glanced at him. Like they're talking using they're eyes. And just left, leaving Yamaguchi who winked at him.
Hinata looked up to the sky painted by gold with a tinge of pink. He glanced at Kageyama looking handsome as usual as the sky's color reflects on it's skin. He must've been staring for sometime because the setter asked him why he was staring. "What's your problem, dumbass?" He stopped walking.
"Well, I was just thinking about a few things. Bakayama, you sure are popular, huh?" He can see how Kageyama blushed a little, looking away. He was probably embarrassed that he knew the confession letters he receives.
"As if I care about those, dumbass! Don't think about it and focus on your shitty receives" Kageyama said crossing his arms on his chest while Hinata pouts.
"But I'm curious Bakayama, what are you saying to those girls?" Hinata was nervous about Kageyama's answer. He suddenly felt cold.
"Well, I am not really interested on them so, I'll say I'm not interested" Kageyama mumbled to himself "Why are you even asking, dumbass, it's my business"
"Is it bad I want to know?" Hinata asked. Kageyama kind of stiffened both staring at each other's eyes, he's the first one to look away. "Not really." He said as he stepped a little towards Hinata.
"Don't you have something to tell me?" Kageyama looked serious that Hinata visibly gulped, his heart suddenly beats faster.
"Haaa? Like what?" Hinata's voice came out worst than he imagined. He took a step back.
"Nothing." Kageyama looked away, sighing. "just.. I heard a little crow sing yesterday." now walking again.
Hinata is contemplating, whether to say it or not. But it was Tails, so it's a No. He's quiet on their way, now clutching the strap of his bag much harder than before.
"Dumbass" Hinata suddenly turned to Kageyama. "since you're slow, I'll tell you I heard what you told Yamaguchi, yesterday" Kageyama figured he needs to be straight to the point since the shrimp was chickening out.
"HAAAAAA!? EHHHH!? SUDDENLY? EH WAIT.." He was looking at Kageyama but he can't see his face. "BAKAYAMA! HEY!" He shook Kageyama's left shoulder. He feels like his heart is about to come out of his mouth.
"I SAID I HEARD OKAY? DUMBASS!" Now the both of them are panting and blushing. Feeling very awkward Hinata faked a cough.
"Well, whatever the crow sang, it's true." He said as he started to walk trying to hide his embarrassment and the fear of rejection.
"What did the crow said again?" Kageyama said while trying to match Hinata's pace. "Come on. Say it, dumbass" He said wearing a serious face but biting his lips, trying not to smile. "I've been waiting all day for nothing then"
"The crow said it likes you" Hinata said as he look at Kageyama now smiling, unlike his super scary smile. This smile feels like gwaaaah. "The crow did, huh? It's called dumbass right?" Kageyama nudged his elbow so all he did was nod.
"I like him, too." Kageyama said.
Hinata suddenly felt like he can jump 5m up and can run 100 kilometers right now. Kageyama saw a smile he didn't see from Hinata for the whole week, his genuine smile.
Kageyama ruffled Hinata's hair and they walk relieved and happy.

Kageyama was thinking how cute this short idiot is. When he eats the meat bun i bought him, he looks like he's glowing while saying thank you. When he's sleeping on the bus and Hinata's head is leaning on his shoulders, sometimes drooling. When he spikes his toss and scores, he's practically shining, sometimes hugging him. I like how he's trying to look strong when he's clearly down, though no one noticed.
He didn't know when he even observed everything about Hinata. Until Saltyshima pointed it out to him one afternoon.
"King, you know the shrimp is going to melt when you look at it too much" Tsukishima said smugly that made Kageyama snap again.
"You're talking nonsense again " He said glaring
"Whatever, idiot couple" Tsukki said calling Yamaguchi to eat lunch.
He actually didn't hear from Hinata himself that he likes him, but he heard from Yamaguchi when he and Tsukishima were talking the day before at lunch though Hinata pretty much confessed himself at a training camp they did months ago when he was sleeping.
They were lying on a mattress, Hinata on his left. He was twist and turning that Kageyama was thinking he's annoying and cute at the same time.
"Yama" Kageyama heard him mumble.
"Yeah?" He tried answering.
"..Like you.." and the shrimp have the audacity to smile in his sleep. That resulted to Kageyama staying up all night and messing on their practice games on the last day of training camp.
He won't ever tell him though.
