Izuku had not seen himself in the hospital that day. He hadn't even gotten injured, something that counted as rare these days. Still, he was a Pro Hero now so he could do whatever the hell he wanted. Right? And if visiting a former classmate of his in the hospital was on his todo list, he could totally do that.
... Right?
The thing was, said former classmate wasn't injured or sick either. In fact, Kyoka did this every other week. She came into the hospital with her guitar and made music for the kids in intensive care. So it shouldnÄt be so uncommon to see a Pro Hero casually walk into a hospital without bleeding profoundly.
Well obviously not in Izuku's case, since the moment he passed through the door he was assaulted by no less the five nurses, three doctors, and eight grandmas, all of whom made sure that he wasn't about to kick the bucket before they got back to whatever they were doing before. Sheesh. Maybe he shouldn't get his ass kicked so often.
...
Why was he here again? Right... Right. He wanted to visit Kyoka. Totally platonic. And stuff. Right.
Dammit, Katsuki would laugh his ass off.
Right. Stop saying, right, dammit!
It was pretty easy finding her. Just follow the music. Well, the music that wasn't elevator music. Good music. Music Kyoka sang so awesomely to. Music her fingers played so softly on her old guitar that she had since that day in I-Island where they found it at an antique shop. Damn. He felt like a stalker.
Why was he-? Finding Kyoka, right. And no more rights!
He took a left out of pure spite to himself, was all but assailed by three more concerned grandmas - what in the world were they all doing here!? - and finally found himself at the Intensive Care Station where he could already hear Kyoka's singing.
Did he know that song? Go brain, remember! Eeeh, "Hope has Wings"? Was that it?
"Izuku?"
Dammit! He had walked right in on them.
"Hey." Well, he managed that pretty good. Now what?
Kyoka gave him a smile. "Came to join us?"
Yes! Yes, dammit! "Yeah." Good thing he was used to giving interviews. Sucked that this was, like, not even remotely as stressful. No, somehow it felt ten times worse. He remembered where he was and turned to the kids, all of whom were staring at him with awe-inspired eyes. "Hey there, too, kids."
Kyoka shook her head and jabbed his tight with one of her ear jack. "Well, my little gremlins, meet Deku, the rank two Hero!" She applauded and the children, bedridden or otherwise, joined her with maximum excitement.
It made him smile. "Figured you could all use some support," he said. Now, the hard part was not to say anything wrong. He didn't know if there were any terminally ill children here.
Kyoka took the lead again. "See? With Deku's support, all of yall will be just fine! No need to worry." She ruffled the hair of a little girl that sat right by her feet, who was staring wide-eyed at Izuku, holding green bunny to her chest.
"Exactly," he agreed in his best All Might voice. "Fear not! Why? Because-!"
"I AM HERE!" the kids cheered.
He smiled at them. Wow. This was cool. He should arrange this with the agency to do come here a lot more.
"He's here alright", Kyoka laughed. "Now, who wants to hear Deku sing?"
The cheering was even louder.
Oh man. He should have taken a right...
"So you sang for lil' kids for an entire hour only so you could ask me on a date?"
Izuku almost inhaled his ice tea, bottle included. "H-How did you-!?"
Kyoka laughed, sipping from her eta. "You're so easy," she said, smirking at him. If his heart wasn't beating a mile a minute already..."Bakugo called me in advance to let me knew you'd come."
Izuku scowled into his bottle, feeling his cheeks heat up. The next sparring sessions between the two of them would be a deathmatch. Damn snitch!
"So?" Kyoka asked, mirth shining in her eyes.
"Uh... so what?"
Her ear jack slapped his side. Ah. Ouch. "Are you gonna ask me or what?"
He paused. Right, he was here to ask Kyoka on a date. Right.
He did just that. It was glorious.
...
Left. Out of spite. What an idiot.
