Yes this is a DC: Superhero Girls story, I've recently gotten into it mostly because I wanted to watch something light hearted after the recent DC animated movie which was surprisingly darker than I thought it would be, so after watching a bit of the series I looked for fanfics and was surprised by the low amount. So I decided to add to it.
As for the Spider-Man part of it, well this will be pure Spider-Man, no Marvel so no other heroes like the Fantastic Four or the Avengers showing up unless I change my mind later. I might use some of their villains like Ultron or the Juggernaut if I see an opportunity.
Before we start the story however, know that this is a version of Peter that has had his powers for two years so here's a timeline of what happened so far with him.
Year One Month One: After the fated Spider Bite which would give him his abilities, Peter went from shy and introverted science geek to a bit of a jerk, using them to better his life a bit, even going as far as to break his school bully Flash Thompson's hand-though it was self defense-resulting in his family being sued. He then donned a mask as 'Spider-Man' to get money as a daredevil stuntman thanks to his danger sensor and enhanced reflexes.
Year One Month Two: After making money for a month like this with some of his grades dropping, Peter got into a fight with his Aunt and Uncle resulting in him running away after his Uncle tried to teach him about responsibility, while doing so he ended up seeing a robbery in progress but didn't interfere because he didn't care about anyone but himself at the moment, a day later his Uncle was shot and killed which Peter heard about by seeing it on the news near a TV store.
Year One Month Two, Week Two: After scouring the streets as Spider-Man, Peter found the murderer only to realize that it was the very same thief that he let get away instilling a sense of loss and guilt showing if he was more responsible he could've stopped it from happening and he headed back home to keep his Aunt from being alone.
Year One Month Three to Five: After spending two months fighting street crime, Spider-Man ended up gaining the attention of a criminal known as the Kingpin who began to fund the creations of criminals to take him down resulting in his run ins with Villains such as the Chameleon, Electro, Sandman and the Rhino while also working at the Daily Bugle which began a smear campaign against him as Spider-Man.
Year One Month Six: Met Gwen Stacy and Harry Osborn, forming a friendship with the two as well as gaining a crush on Gwen while having a run in with the Police putting an arrest warrant on his head for vigilantism, being shocked to discover that Gwen's father was the Police Captain assigned his case. Curt Connors mutated into the Lizard but was reverted back thanks to Spider-Man.
Year One Month Seven: Electro escaped resulting in a rematch where Spider-Man was questioning if he was doing the right thing by doing this given how none of these Super villains existed before Spider-Man appeared before making three new enemies in the form of the Vulture, Doctor Octopus and Kraven the Hunter.
Year One Month Eight to Eleven: Had first run in with the Green Goblin who eluded capture and began to date Gwen Stacy while having some run ins with a thief known as Black Cat who flirted with him despite his attempts to say he wasn't interested, though it was noted that he was very nervous around her.
Year Two, Month One: Mass Breakout happened resulting in Spider-Man having to face his enhanced enemies over the course of the one month though there was a team up between Sandman and Rhino to try and take him down before it was revealed that the breakout was perpetrated by a new criminal going by the name of Mysterio who was captured along with every criminal but Doc Ock.
Year Two, Month Two to Three: Doc Ock laid low before coming back to the surface alongside the Green Goblin the two nearly beating Spider-Man but their fight ended up killing Captain Stacy with Gwen blaming Spider-Man leaving for Peter to feel guilty despite capturing Doc Ock but the Green Goblin once again got away but not before he killed the Kingpin to try and take over the city in his own way.
Year Two, Month Four to Six: Tensions rose between Peter and Gwen as the latter began to notice how Peter always seemed to disappear and confronted him about it. Not wanting her to hate him given how she now hated Spider-Man, Peter lied saying that he was just working too hard at the Bugle before another new villain appeared going by the name of the Shocker who attacked Midtown High to draw the wall crawler out, resulting in the school being closed for a good week or two for repairs.
Year Two, Month Seven: One time on patrol, Spider-Man didn't notice he was being followed as the Green Goblin got sick of this game and wanted to hurt him with him discovering that Peter Parker and Spider-Man were one and the same. He then began to attack Peter's loved ones with May Parker being hospitalized after having a heart attack from the Goblin bombing his home with her barely surviving, leading Peter to realize what he was doing.
Year Two, Month Eight: Peter broke up with Gwen to try and protect her but he ended up making things worse because she went to Harry to speak with him before the Goblin kidnapped her, phoning Spider-Man to mock him into meeting him at a nearby bridge. The resulting fight ended up with the death of Gwen Stacy pushing Spider-Man to his breaking point as he began to viciously beat the crap out of the Goblin only to realize in shock that the identity of him was Norman Osborn the father of Harry. In an attempt to kill Spider-Man, the Goblin took his own life by mistake leading for Spider-Man to take him to his penthouse after taking the Goblin gear off of him but was discovered by Harry who thought that Spider-Man killed his father.
Year Two, Month Nine to Eleven: After that mess, Peter swore off his vigilantism declaring no more Spider-Man and eventually he was told by his Aunt that they were going to move.
Chapter 01: Moving In
Peter Benjamin Parker, a sixteen year old teenager with messy brown hair and hazel eyes sighed with his door closed and some unpacked boxes, wearing nothing but a black shirt and a pair of pants, placing a few items in a nearby desk.
What was strange about this situation was the fact that he was standing on the wall next to the desk, looking in the drawers from above as a way to make room, always feeling more comfortable on a wall before he shifted to where he was sitting on the wall.
"Okay I should probably move a few things to make some more room," Peter muttered to himself before seeing a box that was open to show some red fabric and he jumped down off the wall only to close it. "Why did I bring this?"
In this box was something that he would refer to as his greatest failure, it was also why he never did burn it or throw it away. It would always serve as a reminder in a way he supposed.
Looking from the box towards the window, Peter smiled as he saw the city he was now living in.
Metropolis.
On the bright side it was much warmer than New York and the cleaner air would do wonders for his Aunt's health given how she was still recovering from that Heart Attack three months ago. Downside was that he didn't have his friend Harry here though given what happened it was debatable whether or not they were friends as Harry dropped off the face of the Earth after his father's death.
Opening another box, Peter hesitated when he saw a picture of him and a blonde haired girl hugging, a solemn look on his face as he closed his eyes before hearing footsteps, so he quickly placed it back in right as the door opened to show a woman in her late forties with brown hair turning grey entering, wearing a blue shirt and jeans.
"Peter are you getting unpacked?" Mayday Parker asked with Peter smiling to hide what happened a second ago.
"Just about, I was making sure I still had everything." Peter lied to his Aunt, pushing the box away a bit with his Aunt smiling before she sat on his bed given how he didn't have a chair set up in here. "How about you?"
"Don't worry about me Peter, I'm not that frail," May said to her nephew. "There's still some life in these old bones."
"Old? You?" Peter asked grinning widely. "Perish the thought."
May chuckled at her nephew's sense of humor. "That's a nice thought Peter," She said, happy to see that despite the recent hardships they've experienced that he was being optimistic. "Be sure to go to bed early tonight, you have school first thing tomorrow."
"School, got it." Peter said, showing that he understood.
As May left, Peter reopened the box with the red fabric showing a red and blue costume with black web-lines over the red part and a black spider symbol on the chest before reaching back in and pulled a large face mask with large silverish lenses for the eyes giving a bug like appearance. Two silver wrist mounted devices were on top of the costume as he sighed.
There was a time he was proud of this costume, being a self-proclaimed Superhero who fought crime and defended people but now he believes that all he did was make a situation worse. It didn't help that just about all of New York called for his arrest thinking he was a menace.
The Amazing Spider-Man was what some people called him.
He'll admit that there were a lot of good times when he began this vigilante career but it was outshined by the bad times as well.
The deaths that happened, the destruction despite his best efforts.
It was all just too much.
He supposed it was a good thing he stopped before someone like Superman or Batman showed up to take him in as he didn't think he would be able to handle fighting one of the other real heroes.
He'd often wondered if he would ever meet them or any other hero when he was proud to be Spider-Man.
Probably for the best that he didn't and quite frankly Peter figured that even though he lived in Metropolis now there was no chance for him to meet Superman or any other hero.
With that in mind, Peter continued to unpack while turning the news on to see something about a new hero named Wonder Woman showing up in Metropolis.
"Wonder Woman?" Peter asked, not expecting that to be the first thing he would see on TV here. "Well I wonder what she does?"
… Sorry he had to do it, the pun was begging to be said.
"I think cracking jokes would be the one thing I would miss about my alter-ego." Peter said, giving a fond smile, no doubt remembering all of the jokes he's made while fighting bad guys.
While it seems unprofessional it was a great way to cope through fear and made people too angry to think which allows for him to unbalance them.
Giving a yawn, Peter decided to quit fooling around and focus on finishing up so he could get some sleep.
Early the next morning, Peter looked nervous despite the calm demeanor he was sporting as he was using the GPS Maps App on his phone to get to school by walking.
Right now he was wearing a red plaid shirt with a brown jacket on over it and blue jeans.
Thankfully he lives twenty minutes away from the school, but it felt strange to be walking there due to how he always took the Spider-Man express to school via web swinging.
"Okay you can do this." Peter muttered, trying to calm himself. "You fought super-villains, mob bosses and mad scientists. A new school shouldn't be that bad in comparison."
There was no Flash Thompson to call him Puny Parker or make his days worse, but there also wasn't Harry or Gwe-... There wasn't Harry and even then he didn't know if he could count that.
"I don't have a reputation for being late here or for being a science geek, I can do this." Peter formed a determined look as he finally made it. "Not even my Parker Luck can ruin this."
"Oh you're new here too?" A voice asked behind Peter, making him jump as he turned to see a girl with long reddish-orange hair wearing a purple hoodie with bat ears on the hood and yellow stripes on the sleeves, dark purple shorts and long socks with white, purple and yellow stripes, her green eyes shining due to her luck at meeting someone being the new kid like her.
Peter took a step back, a bit grateful she didn't hear his little speech about facing criminals and idly wished his 'Sense' would warn him even if he wasn't in danger.
"Uh yeah, hi I'm Peter Parker." Peter said, trying to be polite, holding a hand out a bit nervously.
The girl shook his hand eagerly. "I'm Barbara Gordon, but call me Babs and I just moved here from Gotham, how about you?"
"New York." Peter was a bit surprised by the vigorous hand-shaking.
Guess she really wanted to try and make friends with someone.
Still Gotham, that explained the bat hoodie a bit.
"Wow, you're from New York? That's basically Metropolis by day and Gotham by night isn't it?" Babs asked, still grinning. "I have English first, what do you have?"
"I think maybe History? Let me check." Peter opened his bag, his eyes widening at seeing his Spider-Man costume.
What was this doing here-?! Oh right he always put it in his bag, he really needs to break this habit.
Shifting the suit to search for his schedule, Bab's attention was caught by hearing a nearby voice while Peter frowned due to having trouble finding what he was looking for.
"I'm just saying, I don't know why I'm being punished for something I didn't do." The voice belonged to a blonde haired girl who looked a bit of a tomboy wearing a blue shirt with a black leather jacket on over it, grey jeans and combat boots, crossing her arms looking very annoyed.
"And we hear you saying that you didn't do it Kara," A young woman with red hair done in a bun and wearing glasses said poking her head out of the window of the car that the blonde was next to. "Let's re frame our thinking."
Kara Danvers groaned and rolled her eyes in annoyance as her 'Mom' continued.
"Maybe a new school is less of a punishment and more of an adventure?" Mrs. Danvers suggested right as Mr. Danvers who had neatly groomed brown hair and beard joined her.
"One that could help you be the best Kara you can be, and as your legal guardian it's our responsibility to help you on your impulse control."
Kara didn't seem to like that as she slammed the door shut, denting it and nearly sending the car on the side, making Babs look amazed right as Peter finally found the schedule and pulled it out, accidentally knocking the mask to the ground.
"Yup History is my first class." Peter said, bringing the attention back to him, but Babs looked down and saw the mask and gasped.
Hearing that Peter followed her line of sight and panicked.
"Oh look at that class will begin soon, don't want to be late on the first day." Peter quickly grabbed the mask and took off, silently cursing himself for his lapse of judgement on what happened.
This is worse than the time he left a part of his shirt up to show his Spider-Man suit underneath during his time at Midtown High.
Babs blinked. "Wasn't that mask-?"
She's known for a fact that she's seen it before.
Then her attention was drawn towards seeing a young dark skinned girl getting off a bus, but tripping as her bag spilled its contents, her medium length brown hair was tied up in a pair of buns and she wore a yellow and black striped sweater, a yellow skirt, black leggings and a pair of brown boots.
The girl looked very mortified as she tried to get her stuff as quickly as possible.
Seeing the opportunity to try and make another new friend, she'll work on making friends with Peter later, Babs quickly crouched over and helped her. "Hi! My name's Babs."
"K-Karen." The Girl whispered, a bit unnerved by that, especially with how Babs seemed to be getting into her personal space, making her more uneasy.
"I'm new here, is this your first day?" Babs asked in a rapid fire way, scaring Karen more. "What's it like-huh?"
Babs stopped talking as she saw that she picked up some sort of gauntlet with a wrist computer, almost like a-.
It was snatched out of her hand as Karen ran off, wanting to escape this, though she did get a thank you and bye in the process not wanting to be rude.
"Oh um, nice to meet you." Babs looked a bit sad, though her mind was working pretty fast at piecing together the clues she had.
Kara's unnatural strength, Peter's mask that he grabbed before she could confirm it was what she thought it was and now Karen's gauntlet?
Were they-?
"Bye Daddy." Babs turned to see a nearby limousine as a young woman with purple hair going down to her waist wearing a white shirt underneath a black dress vest, a burgundy skirt, knee high socks and black short heels.
The limo honked as a man dressed like a magician poked his head out, holding a purple backpack. "Zee, you forgot your backpack."
Tilting her head, Babs looked towards this 'Zee' only to see her with the backpack making her look back and forth between the man and the girl. "Thanks Daddy, toodles."
Rubbing her eyes, more suspicions went through Babs head before she grinned, an idea coming to her.
If she was right and she was ninety percent sure she was then this was her chance at doing something she's been wanting to do for awhile.
Walking into the school, Babs checked her schedule as she wondered how she would do this, her mind more on the strange events she just witnessed rather than school.
She just needed to get them all in the same room where she could confirm her suspicions.
As she thought that, she made it to her locker only to hear a very interesting conversation behind her. "I told you Hal, I don't believe in the Lantern Corps, their methods are too extreme." She glanced over her shoulder to see a Hispanic looking girl with long brown hair wearing a green beanie, hoop earrings, a dark green shirt and a green skirt.
She was talking to another teen who was male with neatly groomed brown hair, wearing a light green shirt with dark green sleeves and jeans.
Both of them had some sort of green ring.
"Look, I don't make the rules." Hal said turning towards the girl, eliciting for Babs to pretend she wasn't listening before they could see her.
"Take it Hal, I don't want it." The girl tried to give him the ring, but Hal shook his head.
"No can do Jess, it chose you."
With that said they walked off as Babs frowned.
While it was bad to be talking about something like that in a crowded hallway, if she was right that is, Babs was happy they did as she added her to the list of people she wanted to bring into the same room as the others.
"How many are there here?" Babs wondered, placing her bag in her locker.
Peter sighed as the first half of the day was almost over with his backpack in his locker so he wouldn't have anymore close calls with his old suit.
He can't believe he made such a rookie mistake with his mask falling out like that. Perhaps he could play it off as cosplay if the girl tried asking about it?
'I just need to get through the day and not bring the suit to school.' Peter told himself as he entered the cafeteria for lunch.
He also needed to try and make a friend, none of the other students in his classes seemed interested in befriending him, already having their own groups formed.
He supposed that's what you get with moving in the middle of High School.
Finding an empty table, Peter sat at it and poked the spaghetti that was served before someone sat across from him and he looked up to see Babs who was giving an innocent smile that Peter felt should've set off his 'Sense'.
"How's your first day going?" Babs asked before taking a sip of her milk.
"Oh um good?" Peter went along with it, seeing if she was going to bring up the mask, but she didn't, instead she looked to be looking around for some reason.
Seeing as how she wasn't bringing it up, Peter refocused back on his meal, missing how Babs suddenly flung some spaghetti across the room, hitting Kara in the face who was laughing, while eating a burger.
As she didn't see where it came from, Kara wiped it off her face and glared.
"He did it." Babs said, confusing Peter who glanced up from his lunch.
"Wha-?" He stopped when his head began to buzz, rather loudly and he reacted by kicking up his lunch tray, dumping his food and spun around, hitting a burger that was thrown with enough force to break the tray, but he ended up making the burger hit Karen by accident, doing that. "Sorry!"
Kara looked surprised by how Peter reacted and glared, grabbing more food to throw while Peter tensed.
That was stupid of him, he reacted like he was Spider-Man due to how intense the buzzing was.
Still that was weird, it never buzzed like that when Flash Thompson threw food at him.
And more than that, how did she throw the burger with such force?
His sense going off again, Peter went to duck only for Jess to intervene as she saw how it hit Karen earlier. "Leave them alone you big bully!" She exclaimed, knocking it away with her tray only to tense as she caused it to hit Zee who was behind Kara the purple hair girl froze.
"My hair," Zee muttered as some of the food slid down it. "My. HAIR!"
Now filled with rage, Zee grabbed her milk carton and threw it with Kara ducking as it nailed Jess, knocking her down while the carton landed near Karen who took cover.
Taking advantage of that, Babs jumped on her table. "Food Fight!" She yelled out causing a riot to happen.
Now his senses going full force, Peter grabbed another tray and kept knocking the food away from him, not bothered about his secret identity since no one here knew Puny Parker and would find what he was doing too weird.
"Wait till I get my hands on you!" Kara exclaimed, grimacing as a thing of pudding hit her face.
Peter tensed at the threat. "I didn't even do anything!" He protested trying to dodge and weave around the food before Babs ended up tackling him towards the group, the only reason that worked was because there was too much going on for his sense to detect her along with everything.
A male teacher with gray hair was whistling as he passed the lunchroom, glancing in for a second before moving on.
He then stopped when what he saw registered and he ran back to see the chaos and narrowed his eyes. "Enough," He tried only for food to hit him and he lost it. "I SAID ENOUGH!"
Gasps echoed around the lunch room due to how his voice echoed as the crowd of students parted to show six people still fighting.
Kara was trying to get her hands on Peter in annoyance who was struggling to keep her at bay, using his spider-strength in the process as he was on top of Zee who was helping to try and get herself free, Karen was beneath Jess who was in a choke hold by a grinning Babs while she was on Kara's back as if she was a horse.
Narrowing his eyes, the teacher approached them. "You six, let's go!" He ordered in a strict tone. "You have detention."
Everyone froze as they realized the trouble they were in before Kara who had a cupcake shoved it into Peter's face as payback making him frown.
As they were being escorted, none of them saw Babs excited face at how her plan on getting them in one room worked.
Peter on the other hand was trying to figure out what the heck just happened.
To Be Continued…
Phew, this was a lot of fun to type and I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I have a bit planned but I'm also hoping to add more in between what I do have planned given how everything was.
One of the few things I will be changing however is Robin because that was one of the things I didn't really like, so he'll be based off of 'The Batman' version of him rather than the canon one from the SHG show. I'm also planning on adding some realism to this story in various ways but also try to keep to the charm of the story.
Next, Superman will be based on the DCAU one as the one in SHG while entertaining wasn't really Superman.
Also this story will not be a harem one, just letting you know right now. Though given how this is only three months after Gwen Stacey's death it's reasonable that he isn't going to try and date anyone for awhile, even if he's beginning to move on. He's also not as strong as the 616 Spidey because he's still growing into his powers, he's only sixteen after all and he won't reach his prime for awhile.
So far these are the enemies that Peter has faced.
Chameleon, Electro, Sandman, Rhino, Lizard, Vulture, Doc Ock, Kraven the Hunter, Green Goblin (Deceased), Mysterio, Shocker and Kingpin (Deceased).
Not bad for two years of experience and he has yet to face the Sinister Six.
Alright, hope you enjoyed this chapter and I'll try to have the next one out soon. Oh and I'll try to update my RWBY/LOZ story soon.
