Chapter 12: Danny Phantom in NYC

They went through the portal and found themselves looking out at the sea.

"Huh?" Danny asked as his feet touched the floor, which sounded metallic when he landed.

Jake looked around.

"We're at the torch of the Statue of Liberty." Jake said.

Danny turned around and saw it.

When he did, his mouth drooped open and his eyes widened.

It was still daytime, about 5, and the sun was up in a still blue sky.

"Cool…" He said.

"Come on." Jake said as he flew towards the city.

"On it." Danny said as he followed him.

Danny was amazed.

This is the first time he has ever been to New York city in broad daylight and it was even bigger than he thought.

"So this is the Big Apple, huh?" Danny commented as he looked around. "Definitely more lively than Amity Park."

He felt like a country kid in the big city. Even from high up, away from being spotted, he couldn't help but look down.

People walking around, newsstands and hotdog carts getting business, a ton of pizza and chinese restaurants. This was indeed bigger than Amity Park.

"You can sightsee later, right now, we gotta hustle and find Spud and Trixie..." Jake said.

"You really had a friend named Spud?" Danny asked.

"It's short for Arthur P. Spudinski." Jake explained.

Danny blinked, before shrugging.

"Any idea where they are?" Danny asks.

"My guess is the skatepark." Jake said as he sped up, Danny following.

Gotta remember to drop by when this is all done... Danny thought.

The two reached the skatepark Jake and his friends usually hang out in.

Once they found a spot to change back, the two walked out.

"There they are." Jake said as he pointed to two who just saw him.

Danny sees Spud and Trixie for the first time.

"Jakey!" Trixie went.

"Yo, Jake!" Spud said.

"Spud, Trixie!" Jake said as he fist bumped them.

Danny smiled.

They seem like good friends… He thought.

Spud and Trixie notice Danny standing next to him.

"Yo, yo, yo… Jakey? Who dat? This a new homie or something?" Trixie asked.

Danny blinked.

Does everyone in New York sound like a would-be rapper? Danny thought, annoyed. He held his tongue, since he doesn't want to risk another fight like with Jake.

"This is Danny…" Jake introduced him. "He's… kind of helping me."

"With dragon stuff…" Danny said.

This surprised Trixie, but not Spud.

"So, to be clear, did you say dragon, like the magical creature? Or draggin' like dragging something.

"Uh… the first one." Danny said.

Now Spud's eyes widened.

"Oh…"

"Wait… you know, Jake is a dragon?" Trixie asked, surprised.

Danny nodded.

"Yeah, Danny is a… helping me with something related to dragon business..." Jake said slowly, not sure to mention Danny's powers.

Trixie was surprised and Spud got excited.

"Are you a magical creature too? Are you some kind of wizard, a gnome or another dragon?" Spud asked, excited.

Before Danny could think of a response, an annoying voice got their attention

"Yo, Long!"

Jake groaned and turned around, seeing someone Danny quickly figured out plays a similar role to someone he knows.

Someone taller, broader, and looking punchable.

"What do you want, Brad?" Jake questioned.

Brad Morton, a jerk that Jake wishes he could set on fire, gave a nasty grin as he grabbed Jake by the collar.

"Just a little payback for getting me suspended!" He said.

"Dude, you exploded a cake. How is that Jake's fault?" Trixie questioned with edge in her voice.

"Butt out!" Brad said as he rose a fist.

Suddenly, someone Brad didn't recognize shoved him, making him let go of Jake.

"Knock it off!" Danny demanded.

Brad, seeing Danny for the first time, blinked in confusion.

"Who are you?"

"I'm Danny, and I'm not crazy for bullies." Danny said.

Brad just scoffed.

"You just tried to pick a fight with the Bradster!"

Danny raised one eyebrow.

"The… Bradster?"

"He likes to call himself that." Jake explained.

In that brief moment, Danny realizes this guy really is dumber than Dash.

"That's… dumb…" Danny said.

Brad then shoved Danny to the ground.

"Who asked you, loser?!"

Danny found himself on his back, looking up at Brad reaching for Jake's collar again.

"This is… oddly familiar." Danny muttered to himself.

As Brad raised a fist, Danny reached for one the sleeves of Brad's pants.

"Now… the Bradster had this ready for you!" Brad said.

"Hey, Bradster!" Danny said as he got up, saying that part mockingly.

Brad looked at Danny, annoyed.

"What?!"

"Nice undies!" Danny said as he pointed downward.

Brad was confused.

"Nice-"

Before he finished his question, he looked down and the color on his face was gone.

His pants somehow went down to his ankles, revealing a pair of pink underwear with red teddy bear prints all over.

"Oh no…" Brad muttered.

"Hey!" One skater nearby said loudly to his friends. "It's that jerk, Brad Morton! Check out what he's wearing!"

He pointed and laughed, something his friends and few other kids did before Brad pulled his pants up.

As Spud and Trixie were surprised by what happened, Jake chuckled at Brad's embarrassment.

"Come on, Brad. They ran out of the shorts with hearts on it?" He asked.

Brad turned red with embarrassment and rage at Jake.

"I don't know how that happened… but you're dead meat, Long!"

Brad turned around and ran away.

Danny walked up to Jake and the two nod.

"Nice." Jake said.

"Hey, you helped with Dash, so I returned the favor."

With Brad gone, Jake's friends were surprised.

"Jake… homie… what is going on?" Trixie asked.

Jake sighed.

"It's a long story… let's go first..."Jake said to his friends and his ally.

"Can we stop for a bite on the way?" Spud asked.

As they stopped for hotdogs and ate, Danny savored his first bite.

"I can't wait to tell Tucker. He's gonna freak that I ate one of these before him…" Danny couldn't help but brag.

"Who's Tucker?" Trixie asked.

"One of my two best friends." Danny explained. "He's a techno geek. The other is Sam, she's a Goth."

Spud chuckled.

"Goths are hot. Can I meet her?" He asked.

Danny frowned.

"Not if what I think you're thinking is why…" He said.

He didn't know why, but he didn't like the way Spud asked him.

"Whoa. She your girlfriend or something? Like the old cliche of two best friends secretly having the hots for each other?" Spud asked.

Danny's face turned red. His annoyance was replaced with embarrassment and confusion.

"Uh…"

Jake decided to defuse the situation.

"So… uh, anything interesting happened while I was out?"

"Looks like the museum's bumpin up the search to find the stuff stolen." Spud said.

"How'd you hear that?" Danny asked.

"Spud's mom is friends with a security guard at the place." Trixie explained. "The curator wants anyone's help. And I mean anyone, the police, the FBI, even Kim Possible…"

That name caught Danny's attention and he smiled.

"She's coming?"

"Probably, for all we know she's in China fighting some evil robot or something…" Trixie said.

"Still though, got an idea where the stuff went?" Spud asked.

"Yeah…" Jake said. "Danny and I were on our way to talk with Gramps and Fu, see if we can use a spell to find the person who took it."

"Well, you might need a spell to find them, because the store closed when we passed it earlier." Spud said.

Trixie had a look on her face when she noticed Danny.

"You might need a spell to find Danny boy's mind there…" She said.

Jake looked at Danny and saw him looking off into space. He also had a goofy, lovesick smile on his face.

He groaned when he realized why.

Kim Possible… someone had to mention her name… Jake thought, remembering that Danny's got a soft spot for her.

He snapped his fingers in Danny's face repeatedly.

"Yo, Lover Boy!"

Danny gasped when he became aware.

"Huh?! What?!" He looked at everyone, blushing when he realized he zoned out when Kim Possible was mentioned. "Uh… what?"

Jake rolled his eyes.

"I just heard Gramps and Fu are out." Jake said.

"Well… where else could they be?" Danny asked.

Jake thought, then snapped his fingers when an idea sprung.

"They might be paying my family a visit."

Lao Shi did his best to use his dragon flames on the bars, having done so for the past 20 minutes. After this, he sighed and changed back, feeling defeated.

"It is no use, these bars were designed to keep even a dragon contained." He said.

"HI-YA!" Tucker went, trying to chop the bar with his own hand, only to hurt himself. "Ow!" He said as he pulled his hand back and shook it in the air.

"Really?" Jazz asked him in disbelief. "The dragon couldn't break it and you thought you could?"

"It was worth a shot…" Tucker said in defense.

"Our only hope now is if Danny came. He could phase us out of here…" Sam said.

"Does he know you're captured?" Lao Shi asked.

"No…" Sam said, realizing the situation. She sighed. "Why are we even here?"

That's when a door to the wall closest to them opened. Coming through was someone Lao Shi knew well.

"Ah, the Chinese Dragon, and a few of Danny Phantom's little friends, if I'm not mistaken…" Pandarus said as he looked amused. "Apologies for the cramped accommodations. I'd let you use one of my hotel rooms, but I'm afraid I have none to spare…"

As Lao Shi glared indignantly, the others looked confused.

"Eli Pandarus?" Sam asked. "Uh… other than being a greedy jerk even my parents aren't too crazy for, you're not a villain. So what are you doing here?"

"He's a sorcerer…" Lao Shi explained.

This got their attention.

"What?!" They both asked.

"Not just any!" Pandarus said with a notable irritation at being shown apparent disrespect. "I am the greatest!"

"I take it you're working with that Plasmius person?" Lao Shi asked.

"Indeed…" Pandarus said. "The Dark Dragon would do well to help us once he's out…"

"Do you think the Dark Dragon would aid a human wizard or a half-human?" Lao Shi questioned.

"He will once Plasmius's little plan to put him under our control works…" Pandarus said.

Lao Shi scoffed.

"Whatever it is, it will fail…"

"We shall see…" Pandarus says. "I almost wish I could do this atop Pandarus Tower, but here, in Magus Bazaar, is going to have to do."

"So… we haven't left?" Lao Shi asked.

"Magus… Bazaar?" Sam asked Tucker and Jazz, who shrugged at what was just said.

"The spell to set him free requires space, and plenty of magic…" Pandarus then smirked evilly. "And if something goes wrong, we will just drain your chi and their life force if more power is needed…"

That got a gasp from the three teens.

"Okay… he is a villain." Sam said.

"I just thought I'd let you know of your fate…" Pandarus said as he chuckled and strolled out of the room, shutting the door on the way.

Lao Shi groaned.

"Jake and Danny must hurry and find us soon…" He said.

At the Long Residence

"Well… Here we are." Jake said as he brought his friends and current ally to his home.

"Huh… neat place." Danny said.

Jake walked up and opened the door.

"Mom? Dad? Haley?" He asked as he entered.

"Jake?" His mother heard his voice and saw her son there. "Jake!" She walked up and hugged her son. "About time…" She saw Trixie and Spud. "Hi, kids!" Then she saw Danny. "And… new kid…"

"I'm Danny Fenton." Danny said. "Nice meeting you, Mrs. Long."

"I heard our boy is back!" Jonathan Long was heard as he came in and saw Jake, who was no longer in his mother's arms. "Well, hello there, son!"

Danny examined this man and had a skeptical look on his face.

This is his dad? Really?

This man and Jake didn't really look related. Clearly he takes after his mother more.

"Uh… anyway, this is Danny." Jake said to his father.

"Oh, a new friend?" Jonathan asked.

Both Danny and Jake gave each other a glance before answering.

"Kind of/Not really." Danny and Jake said at the same time before noticing what the other said. "Not really/Kind of." They both said at the same time again, catching the other's attention. "It's complicated."

Susan closed the door for everyone, finding their response odd but shrugged.

"Well… welcome to our home."

"Has Gramps shown up today?" Jake asked.

Susan looked surprised.

"No… I thought you were with him…" Susan said.

Danny, meanwhile, nudged Jake and looked to his father.

"So... about your dad?"

"Yeah?"

"So is he... like a werewolf or something?" Danny whispered his question.

"No, he's a full human... as far as I know." Jake whispered back.

"Uh… remind me. Your dad still doesn't know about… you know?" Danny whispered.

"He knows... he found out a few days ago but he's been cool about it..." Jake whispered.

"Good… make this easier... " Danny whispered.

"So, are you one of Jake's friends from school?" Jonathan asked.

"Not exactly..." Danny said.

"What do you mean by… exactly?" Susan asked.

"Mom!" A girl's voice was heard.

"Yes, Haley?!" Susan questioned.

"Let me know if Jake comes home so I can hide his broken CD player and replace it when he doesn't notice!" She shouted back.

"YOU BROKE MY CD PLAYER?!" Jake shouted angrily.

There was a silence. Then the sounds of small footsteps was heard coming in fast from upstairs and then a small girl at around 9 slid in to view.

"So… a… uh… raccoon came in from the window and… uh… I tried to shoo it out and I accidentally hit it with the broom!" Haley said with a nervous smile. "That's what happened… not that I got mad that it wouldn't play my own burned CD with my karaoke sessions and I got mad and pushed it off the table."

She laughed nervously before noticing a new face in the group.

"Hi." Danny waved to the little girl.

"Oh, a new friend?" She asked.

"Not exactly…" Jake said.

"What does "Not Exactly" even mean in this context?" Susan asked.

Danny and Jake shared a nod.

"Before we continue, let's be clear… I know that Jake is the American Dragon..." Danny said.

Everyone else gasped and stepped back in shock.

"W...what? I...I don't know what you are-"

Jake raised his hand to silence his father.

"Dad, it's cool. He knows..."Jake said.

Susan was surprised.

"Jake, what is this about?" Susan asked

"Yeah, and what was that at the park?" Trixie asked.

Danny sighed as a pair of rings appeared and in a moment, he changed forms.

Jake's friends and family were stunned by this display, especially Jonathan.

"Wha...a...a...eh?" He let out.

Danny sighed.

"My name is Danny Phantom. I am the half-ghost superhero from Amity Park. The reason that I am here is because an enemy of mine and a huge fruitloop, Vlad Plasmius, is trying to free the Dark Dragon and I am here to help Jake stop him.." Danny explained.

Everyone but Jake was stunned by what they just heard.

"The Dark Dragon?!" Susan asked loudly.

"Hmm… Danny Phantom… that name rings a bell..." Jonathan said thoughtfully before it hit him. "Wait, the ghost kid from Amity Park? I thought you were an urban legend."

"Your son is a dragon… is this really surprising?" Danny asked.

However, Trixie noticed Spud didn't seem that surprised by anything since they arrived.

"Uh… Spud? Did you not see the new guy turn into his own palette swap?" She asked.

Spud only shrugged.

"After all we've seen, nothing surprises me that much…" Spud said.

Haley, however, had a big smile on her face.

"Cool…" Then she transformed into her dragon form and used her wings to flutter near him. "How did you do that? How'd you get your powers? Who would win in a fight, you or my brother?"

Danny took a moment to come up with an answer.

"Uh… I call it "Going Ghost", was hit by energy from a man-made ghost portal and… maybe me?" Danny said, not sure how to answer that last part.

"Because you were lucky…" Jake said under his breath.

Danny shot him a glare.

Just then, Fu Dog came running in on all fours through the dog door, panting heavily.

"Fu?" Trixie asked.

"Where's my dad?" Susan asked.

Fu ignored them and only noticed Jake.

"Good… you're here. Kid… we… we got a problem!" Fu said, exhausted and struggling to catch his breath.

Jake turned to him.

"Fu, what's wrong? Where is G?..."Jake asked.

"That... that's the problem... he... he's been captured..." Fu said.

Silence befell everyone, even Danny.

"When?!" Jake asked.

"Earlier today… Phantom's archenemy captured him with help from Pandarus…"

"The hotel guy?" Danny, unfamiliar so far, asked.

"He's an evil wizard." Jake explained fast. "And you came looking for me?"

"I did… after I had to hide from a goblin I owed money I don't have…" Fu said that last part quietly. "The point is… the old man needs help!" Fu said.

New chapter with thanks to Flower Princess11 on several parts.

And now Danny's met the Long and the rest of Team Dragon.

Meanwhile, Vlad's plans for the Dark Dragon are almost ready.

Let's see our heroes save the day in time!

Also, I knew about the werewolf thing before adding it for sure. The Dark Dragon being Jake's future self was purely accidental.

TheWhiteTitan: We're all hoping. My hope is they get Steve Marmel back instead of Hartman.

Invader Johnny: They'll be needing teamwork for sure.

TTGG03: We shall see.

Luiz4200: I did not even know of that until you mentioned it. Probably don't have that issue anymore. Indeed, Ender's Game proves you don't have to be openly homophobic like its author to like his work. By less I mean they don't appear in every episode, also if it were me, the revival would not use anything Hartman suggested, especially since most of them aren't really good ideas.

Leonardo: Forgot to allow comments. You can now.

Jay the Average Fanboy: Sorry for adding this in so late. Anyway, it's cool and I might use them. Also, yes, Cameron is an OC because I couldn't think of anyone. I guess she has a type, Danielle will fall for someone who is a genderbent version of whoever Danny ends up with. Flower Princess11 helped with that. Also, your questions do not bother me.

DB Fan: Indeed.

UltraPhantom: I wish I could... but I will have Sam likely apologize.
