He just couldn't take it anymore. The young green-haired boy just couldn't deal with the constant bullying at school all because he was Quirkless. It all came to a head when his main bully, someone who used to be a friend since childhood, told him to more or less kill himself if he wanted a Quirk in the next life.

Which is why he was currently at the bridge, looking down at the river down below. If he was going to go through with it, might as well do it where he won't be found. If he were lucky, the river would take his body away from this place.

Before he could take the leap though…

"What are you doing, gero?"

The boy jumped in fright and almost fell forward. He felt something wrap around his waist and pull him back onto solid ground. Looking up from his position, he found a girl that looked to be his age. She had long, dark green hair tied in large bow and large black eyes that looked as if she could see into one's soul. What really grabbed the boy's attention was the long tongue that came out of her mouth and was wrapped around his waist. She greatly reminded the boy of a frog.

"Wh-What?"

"That's what I asked, gero," replied the girl, releasing the boy. "Why were you standing on the edge of the bridge like that, gero?"

She watched as he looked away, sorrow etched on his face. "What does it matter to you?"

"It looked like you were about to kill yourself, gero," she said in a blunt manner, causing him to flinch. "If it weren't for the fact that I was sitting on the riverbank and saw you, you probably wouldn't be here right now, gero."

"Why did you get involved?" demanded the boy, giving the girl a slight glare. She was unaffected. "No one else cares about me! Why should you be any different?!"

"Why would anyone not care about you, gero?"

The boy was ready for her to treat him like garbage like everyone else does. "It's because I'm Quirkless."

She surprised him though. "That's a stupid reason to not care about someone, gero."

He froze in place at her words. "Wh-What?"

"Just because someone is Quirkless doesn't make them any less of a person, gero," explained the frog girl. She then put her finger near her mouth and stuck her tongue out a little. "Besides, if you went through with your little stunt, how do you think your parents would feel?"

He flinched again. "M-My mom would be b-better off w-without m-me. With me g-gone, she w-would no longer have to w-worry and can live her own life."

"Are you sure about that, gero? How could she live her own life if she is constantly grieving over the loss of her son?"

Fat tears came and fell from large green eyes. He desperately tried to wipe them away. "I just don't want to be in any more pain. I'm tired of people telling me I can't be a hero just because I'm Quirkless!"

The frog girl frowned. She didn't like seeing this boy like this, despite having just meeting him. He seemed so innocent, like a cute bunny, and yet people looked down on him for the stupidest reason. Wanting to make him feel better, she walked over and wrapped her arms around him. She could feel him tense up, but she wasn't about to break the hug.

"I think you can be hero, gero. It'll be difficult, given your condition, but as long as you don't give up you can do it, gero," she said as she held him close.

More tears came, but this time they weren't in sadness. He wrapped his own arms around the smaller girl, returning the hug.

"A-Arigatou…ano…"

"My name is Asui Tsuyu, but you can call me Tsu, gero."

"I'm…I'm M-Midoriya I-Izuku."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Midoriya-kun, gero. Are you feeling better now, gero?"

"…A little."

"That's good," said Tsuyu as she broke the hug and looked up at him. "Hand me your phone, gero."

"E-Eh?!"

"I want to put my number in it so you have someone to talk to when you're feeling down, gero," explained the frog girl as she held out her hand.

Though hesitant, Izuku took out his phone and gave it to Tsuyu. He then watched her type in her number and with a ping everything was all set. She handed it back to him with a smile.

"Y-You d-don't have t-to d-do this, y-you know," said Izuku, not looking her in the eye.

"Of course I do, gero. We're friends now, gero."

"F-Friends?" questioned Izuku, thinking this might have been a dream. Did he really have a friend now?

"Hai," replied Tsuyu. She then noticed the sun starting to set. "While I hate to say this, I need to start heading home, gero. I originally came to run some errands and I need to get to the station before my train leaves, gero."

"Y-You're not from Shizuoka?" questioned Izuku, curiosity in his eyes.

"I'm from Aichi, gero. So I'm only one town away if you wish to visit, gero," replied Tsuyu. She giggled when her new friend blushed.

"O-Okay."

She giggled once more before whipping out her tongue and giving the boy a frog kiss on the cheek, causing him to blush even more.

"I hope to see you again, Midoriya-kun, gero."

With that, Tsuyu headed back to where she left her bags, leaving a stunned Izuku to reboot his brain. Once he could think again he looked over the bridge once more before turning and heading home himself.

He originally wanted to end it all, feeling insignificant in this cruel world. But it was all because of a frog that the bunny reconsidered his place in life.

This was loosely based on "The Hares and the Frogs" from Aesop's Fables. It the story, the hares believe that since they are constantly under threat that they decide to drown themselves in the river. As the run to the river though, they scare a bunch of frogs into the river, causing one hare to decide to live since if there are creatures that can be frightened by hares, their own lives must not be as bad as they originally thought.

I figured since Izuku (the bunny) is constantly being bullied to the point of considering suicide, Tsuyu (the frog) would be the best way to convince him otherwise.
