Author Notes: This story takes place right after Internal Deception and the 17th season of NCIS.

Dangerous Liaisons

Special Agent Gibbs was very anxious to get to his house and Loreile. Since they were heading for his cabin for a total week of quiet and alone time finally after closing the case. He was glad to had made the decision to enter the safehouse to meet up with Lt. Loreile Baskins. A woman more like him with a strong persona, smart and beautiful in everyway.

After his talk with the head shrink Doctor Grace opening up once again with his feelings. He headed home to pack for the trip and to ask Loreile an important question. He checked his pockets to make sure the jewelry box was still in his coat pocket. He was going to give it to her at his house last night. However other things had gotten in the way of it.

Running out of NCIS and the Naval yards. He had gotten into his truck when all of a sudden someone was speeding to almost run into him. Stopping his truck in time and his heart racing a mile a minute, the vehicle was mostly a blur to him. However Gibbs stopped at the security checkpoint to asked the officer the following.

"Lt. Rollins did you happened to noticed a vehicle in a hurry leaving the yards?" He asked with looking around the area.

"No sir. You are the only vehicle to leave the yards during the past twenty minutes. Is there a problem Special Agent Gibbs?" The young, blonde security asked with the question.

"Nope! Just wondering that's all, I am sorry to have bothered you with the question. And besides I am on vacation and need to get out of here quickly." It was at this time his cell-phone had gone off from Director Vance. He was shaking his head thinking that his vacation has been cancelled. "Gibbs, what is it Leon?" He sounded annoyed and disappointed with his question.

"Just making sure you understand about your week's vacation Jethro. The department of defense will be looking into new candidates for the position of Secretary of Defense." He made mention over the cell phone.

"Ok Leon, I really don't care right now. I am on vacation and I need to get home to pack. I will asked when I get back. Take care and goodbye." He hung up on his friend with starting his truck once again to leave the Yards and Alexandra.

A lone black SUV parked outside of the parking lot was watching Special Agent Gibbs in his truck leave the yards to head for his house. The driver watching grabbed his cell to call for further instructions.

"Thomas, he just left for his house. Do I continue to follow him?" He asked over the cell phone.

Voice over the phone. "No, we will take over when he reaches his cabin and begin the fun afterwards." He noted with a slight chuckle to have Donaldson of the SUV scared.

"Very well, I will meet you there as soon I am able to." He replied with ending the call to start up his vehicle to head for the warehouse in Alexandra.

Lt. Loreile Baskins stopped at the main entrance of the Evergreen safehouse to be logged out before leaving. She was very anxious to get started with her week's vacation. She drove off to leave the premises of the safehouse.

She had already packed her things from her quarters. She now needed supplies for the cabin to survive for the week besides eating fish and any other game that is killed by Gibbs and herself.

She was going over the closed case with all those killed and been arrested. She had suggested to Jethro that there might be others involved now crawled back into their hiding places for now. She had asked Director Vance to have his people ears stay opened for anything out of the ordinary. There has to be chatter somewhere over the internet, NCIS, State Department, Pentagon and ETC!

Even Gibbs agreed without speaking out loud about it and yet they were heading for his cabin for the week. It was going to be an interesting week to say the least.

NCIS Naval Yards Director's Vance Office

He called to have Mcgee, Torres and Bishop to come to his office in spite the fact Bishop was on vacation for the week. He had received Intel in regard to Hired Guns having a specific targets and be rid of them.

His sources had informed him from the C.I.A., NCIS, F.B.I., NSA and two other agencies had stated that Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Lt. Loreile Baskins are the intended targets.

There was a knock on his door with Mcgee and the others walking in with Vance telling them to sit. He had a concern look on his face.

"What's up sir to have all of us here?" Mcgee asked with turning to look at Torres and Bishop. He noticed the engagement on her finger. It was just plain gorgeous with Torres having great taste for when it comes to Eleanor Bishop.

"I would like all of you to read the following reports." He said now standing to hand them the reports. "We will need to set up protection for the both of them since they will be at the cabin for the week. It's not going to be easy since the agents working the case will need to stay out of sight."

"Wow! How accurate is this report Director Vance?" Tim replied with his stomach beginning to do flips all of a sudden.

"It's up to date Mcgee. This all stems from the past case being closed with the arrests of the Secretary of Defense Wynn Crawford and Evergreen's safehouse manager Gordon Liber." Vance shrugged.

"So why would hit man be hired by whom?" Torres needed to asked with not wanting to think about the ramifications of might can happen.

"One of many questions that needs to be asked Special Agent Torres. I will need all of you to head for Gibbs cabin and try staying out of sight as much as possible. However you will scan the area for anyone that tries to get close the two of them. You're going to be well armed as well to protect yourselves."

"Has the funds been released for this week's long protection sir?" Mcgee had to know since he's mostly a company man for 16 years longer even for Special Agent Gibbs.

"Yes, along with additional agents. Now I suggest you get going to prepare and put together your equipment. I suggest all of you try to keep this quiet as much as possible. Since I have no idea who is involved."

"Is it possible Director Vance that NCIS might have the mold working in the bullpen like Special Agent Carlos Brille?" Eleanor Bishop finally spoke up to ask a question.

"Possible! Now get out of here and good luck. Oh! Before I forget, Doctor Palmer and Casey Hines will be involved as well. Since it was strictly volunteer to help out with Operation Protection." Vance moves up from his seat to walk them out of his office.
