Just a dream. Just an ordinary dream.
I woke up in my bed.
I was still sick and still just a girl who dreamed about a handsome man.
I struggled to get out of my bed.
It had been such a good dream.
That man...Jim. Was it all in my head?
I went to the hearth to meditate and stared into the fire, but all I saw was his eyes, sparking with mischief
Did he really call me miraculous? It all seemed so real.
The fire flickered. Sensing a presence I turned to the door and saw the man there.
"Hospital told me you were looking for a long term job."
I smiled. "Yes Jim-chan. I am."
"How bout you come to work at the office?"
Xxx
It wasn't a normal thing for Jim to recruit people to work at the crazy office with Michael and Dwight and everyone. But he wanted to se her every day.
Tracking her down hadn't been easy.
He'd had to trick Dwight into helping actually.
He convinced Dwight that because her shrine made Ofuda—paper charms—they would be an excellent paper client.
It almost wasn't worth it; with Dwight going on and on about anime and Japanese culture.
"First thing when you approach the shrine," Dwight said. "Let me do the talking. And make sure you ask her about her kami, and pay your proper respect to the altar—"
"Uh Dwight." Jim said. Here goes. "You can have the bigger Inari Shrine across the street. I don't think I'd be able to handle it, so I'm gonna start small with Hikawa Shrine."
"Of course you wouldn't be able to handle it." Dwight shot back. "You refer to a shrine properly as a 'Jinja.'"
Jim suppressed the urge to roll his eyes.
Aaaand that took him to where he was now.
"So what do you think?" Jim asked, sipping the tea she gave to him. It was surprisingly good.
"Intriguing, but to go would cost me greatly." Kuri grinned. "What can you offer me? Will it be fun?"
He grinned. "A barrel of laughs."
"Sure." She nodded. "Well then, Jim-chan. I'll see ya Monday morning. And I'll show your office some real Japanese culture!"
Jim gave her one of his funny looks. He wasn't quite sure what she meant, but the way she said it sounded like she was going to pull off the prank of a lifetime on the Office!
Walking back to the car, he smirked. This was going to be fun!
