Subtle Romantic Sparks - Chapter 2
On the day of the cafe encounter, Jack was napping in the afternoon since he got tired earlier than usual when grinding ranked. He decided to call it quits and head home earlier for a break. Despite Jack's front door being locked, an Inkling with sky blue hair quietly entered his house and closed the door behind her. She saw Jack sleeping soundly on his bed and went up to him before clasping the bottom of his head with her hand, inspecting him.
"Huh...wha...WHA?!" Jack moved away from the female Inkling, blushing, out of breath, and almost falling off his bed. "Who are you and why are you here? Didn't I lock the door?"
"Well, you did, but I have my ways," the Inkling calmly responded. "So you're the guy Callie and Marie have taken a liking to? What a shame."
Jack was hurt by her statement quite badly but tried to shake it off. "So... This is how they reach out to me? I'm not even surprised they know where I live."
"Quit talking. They're waiting," said the girl Inkling. "Oh and by the way, you can call me 'Three'," she said before dragging Jack to their place.
The 2 walked in a slightly uncomfortable silence before Jack felt the need to break it. "Uh, 'Three', do you have anything else you go by? I don't think I could get used to that."
"You're annoying. My first name's Sydney, but I would prefer it if you just called me three."
"Okay... Syd."
This resulted in a loud slap to his cheek.
Three and Jack then entered the Squid Sister's house through the backdoor in an extremely narrow, dark alley. Jack understood that going into their place through the front door in broad daylight wouldn't be the smartest option.
Callie's face lit up when the door opened. "Agent Three! You actually made him come! Thanks for not killing him!" Callie was hugging Three, who had a very blank expression.
"I don't see what you like about him," Three added.
Marie walked up to Jack and put her hand on his shoulder. "Isn't he cute, Agent Three?"
"If you say so, Marie."
Jack blushed a little because of this.
"...Oh cut the mushy crap, you 3. Let's play some videogames!" Callie said ecstatically. "It's been ages since I've played with someone else. Marie is too good and Three absolutely sucks."
Three was surprised by her being called out. "S-Shut it, you."
...
Callie was annoyed by Marie's game knowledge. "What?! You rolled a 6 again? Do you know how to time it?"
"Maybe..." Marie answered.
...
"Wow, Three, you beat me in a minigame," Marie said, not used to losing. "There goes my coins..."
"I-I just pressed random buttons." Three said quietly, leaving Callie, Marie, and Jack to burst out into laughter.
Jack ended up winning the Mario Party session anyway due to his good luck.
...
"Items? Why do we have items?" Marie questioned.
"What is this stage..." Jack added.
Three, being bad at videogames, was very confused. "How do I get my guy back onto the platform?"
...
"Okay, Jack. Just me and you left. If I win this game you have to do whatever I want."
"WHAT!?" Callie and Three shouted.
"You're on," Jack said.
He ended up winning that round of smash since he had 2 more stocks left, while Marie had 1.
...
"STUPID FUDGING BLUE SHELL I-"
Callie didn't have fun with Mario Kart.
"Whew! I'm beat. I'll head to bed now, bye Jack, bye Marie," Callie stated as she closed the door to her room.
"I'll be sleeping too. Jack, you better not leave. Use one of the vacant rooms," said Marie.
"Rich girls..." muttered Jack as he went into a guest room and immediately fell asleep.
Jack woke up in the middle of the night to feel warmth and movement next to him. He got up and lifted up the sheets. "Callie? Marie?" Instead, he found Three, who he just woke up.
"Hello, Jack." she said, rubbing her eyes and blushing intensely.
"M-Mind if you go back to your room, Three...?"
"As a matter of fact, I would mind." Three said as she pulled him back into bed. "Also... Can you call me Sydney from now on?"
Jack gave up at this point. "Sure."
