4 December 2020,
Update on Mirko, The Rabbit Hero, after yesterday's incident (December 3, 2020) that was first leaked to the press, and the subsequent official version.
It happened that a jewelry store robbery turned into a hostage situation when a hero duo in the area intervened immediately against the plans of the robbers, causing them (3) to lock themselves in the jewelry store by taking two store workers and three customers hostage. Both heroes were wounded (they are fine) by one of the attackers, who had a quirk that allowed him to turn spicy food into fire by expelling it through his mouth. The consumption of an enhancement drug is being considered.
The Rabbit Hero: Mirko, arrived a few minutes after the start of the fight. There were already police on the scene, and she was informed of the situation in more detail. Against the ad-
Knock Knock
-Yes?
-Hi, Tokoyami here, can I come in?
-Of course! -I shouted from the chair. I looked at the desk clock, an edition with the bright face of All Might under the hands that marked 22:04. What would Tokoyami need at these hours? Perhaps I was muttering again and making too much noise, and it was bothering him. We are two rooms away after all. Or maybe he had doubts about Ectoplasm's math homework, which had been very difficult for me too, luckily Yaoyorozu had helped me.
In those few seconds Tokoyami opened the door and took a couple of steps forward, standing in the middle of the short access corridor, leaving the door open. I turned the chair to look at him comfortably. He was already wearing which I assumed was his pajamas: a black cotton T-shirt with no writing on it and sports shorts, also black. Nothing out of the ordinary. The Jet-Black Hero respectfully waited for me to ask first.
-What do you need, Tokoyami?
-I wanted to ask you if you'd like to come to a concert tomorrow?
-M-me?
-Yes, of course –he said with a slight erratic head movement, as if shocked by the question-. Is there anyone else in the room? I can come back later.
-Nno, it's just, wh-why me?
-You see, we were going to go Shoji, Kaminari and I, but Kaminari has a family emergency and can't come, so he told us to take advantage of his ticket. And we thought you might be interested.
Surprise. That was the main emotion. My brain was starting to short-circuit trying to process everything: concert, invitation, Kaminari. It was strange information all of a sudden, and I didn't know what to think or do. Why am I reacting like this? I was feeling nervous for no clear reason, my thoughts all over the place. He was just asking me if I wanted to go to a concert. Nerves are a rare reaction, and there are all kinds. Good ones, which help you concentrate and be more active. Bad ones, they paralyze you and put you in difficult situations. Natural ones, which you feel according to your personality... Focus, Izuku.
I had to learn to control my emotions, that's what one of the ancestors of One For All said, "Take control of your heart". Calming down, I mentally put the conversation in order and went step by step, prioritizing.
-Is Kaminari's emergency something important? -I asked with concern. Tokoyami had patiently waited, barely moving.
-I'd say not. He hasn't given us many details, but I think it has something to do with his grandfather, maybe they're moving him to a residence.
-I hope it's nothing…
Tokoyami gently nodded, leaning his side against the wall and crossing one leg. He wasn't a very expressive guy, perhaps he found interactions as difficult as I did, but his ability to stay calm made him both a dependable and unpredictable individual. He was always focused. I think that's why, apart from his quirk, he's so powerful; his mental strength.
And now he was in front of me, leaning against the wall staring at me, waiting for an answer on the concert topic, expectant as the dog that waits for you to throw the ball. And I didn't know what to reply, it was all very new, sudden. So, I answered automatically.
-I-I don't know what to say.
-Say yes. We have to take advantage of the ticket, it's already bought -he paused for a moment-. And don't worry, you don't have to pay anything. Consider it a gift.
Tokoyami encouragingly said.
-I, I-It's very generous, but I've nnever been to a concert... I'll be a nuisance.
-You've never been to a concert?
-N-no.
-I'm sure you'll have a good time, join us.
-Bbut, wouldn't you r-rather go with someone funnier and energetic, li-like Kirishima or Sero? I'm sure you'd have a better time.
-I'm asking you because I want you to come.
He said with a slight smile, although his tone was serious, and he kept looking at me in the eyes. Tokoyami's ability to hold his gaze was surprising, did he ever blink? Maybe that's why he's always so focused, he never blinks. I'll have to pay more attention to it.
With the ever-present uncomfortable silence in my conversations, he began to walk to my bed, where he silently asked with signs if he could sit, and I nodded. Once sat down, Tokoyami looked all over the room, paying special attention to the All Might posters in front of the desk. After a few seconds he looked back at me with a slightly tilted head and a kinder tone, less deep. I knew what was coming.
-I'm not going to push you if you don't want to come, it's fine. I'll ask someone else.
-N-no, It- I…
Damn. It's not that I didn't want to go, the idea of going to a concert was suddenly so much fun. I was in the mood. Since he first said it I was feeling nervous, but also starting to feel that characteristic tingling in my stomach, that impulsive reaction you get when you're asked something, and it unexpectedly seems like the best idea ever. But going to a concert... it was so sudden, different, so new that I hesitated. What do you do at concerts? My general knowledge and the videos I've seen show that you jump; you sing, you're squeezed together with strangers, you dance, you wait a lot, you shout... And what kind of concert would it be? Sitting or standing, in a concert hall or in a stadium… And most importantly, what genre, or artist?
I had many doubts, but with what Tokoyami had told me, his interested gaze as I thought about it... he sincerely wanted me to come. It wasn't sympathy or obligation; it didn't convey that. Many things had changed in my life since I met All Might, in fact I could say that everything had changed. Now among other things I was at UA, my dream school, in the path to become a Hero. And I had friends who supported me and wanted to hang out with me, sincere friends.
-O-ok, count me in.
-You sure?
-Yeah, it could be fun.
Dark Shadow appeared in an instant, flashing its thumb at me with what I assumed was a smile. His quirk never ceases to fascinate me. In fact, it was time to update the notes on Tokoyami, it's been a while since I had written down his progress.
-Excellent. I'll confirm the details tomorrow morning -he said, standing up and starting to walk towards the door-. Good night, Midoriya.
-Tokoyami, w-wait.
-Yes?
He had already opened the door and was right under the edge with one hand on the doorknob, facing me again. Although I was fine with the idea, and suddenly looking forward to going to the concert, I had to confirm a couple of things in order to sleep soundly.
-You've di-discussed this with the teachers, r-right? We're not sneaking away or, or anything?
-Don't worry, we'll have Hound Dog with us.
-P-perfect.
One less worry. It was certainly surprising that UA allowed us to go out considering the attacks by the League of Villains and so on. But if they had consulted with the teachers and allowed it, and we were going to go with Hound Dog, everything was nicely planned. Besides, I'll finally be able to take more notes on Hound Dog; there were many aspects of his quirk I wanted to know.
There was only one thing left to ask.
-And what kind of concert is it?
-Oh. A heavy metal concert.
-Wh-, ho-, what?
-Heavy metal. -he now said with a straight face, before yawning and covering his mouth-. Well, it's been a rough day. We'll talk tomorrow, good night Midoriya.
-Tokoyami, wait -I shouted, but he had already closed the door, completely ignoring me-. Wait...
That didn't sound very good, maybe I got on the bandwagon too fast.
-Thank you for reading this. Hope you liked this first chapter or, at least, were entertained by it.
JayTzar out.
PS:
-Do you want to come to a concert?
-Y-yes.
-Ok, perfect. Let's meet tomorrow. Bye.
