I couldn't help but writw this story even if September 21st and 27th is not quite here yet. I double checked with Fandom and Lenny's anniversary is September 21st. This year would mark four years for this amazing fake couple. There is a mention of the actual day they met. This is before Penny's pregnancy and of course the news Amy and Sheldon got the big news. Looked it up the award ceremony for Nobel Prize is in December. I like to try to have everything correct when I write.
So please enjoy this one shot as I do not own these Characters.
Four Years
Leonard was all excited that his and Penny's four year anniversary landed on a Saturday this year. He had the whole day planned and was going to start by letting Penny sleep in while he cooked her breakfast and serve it to her in bed.
"Okay, this...this right here is why I married you! Your cinnamon french toast is like the best!" Penny said excitedly while taking a bite of her breakfast after Leonard woke her from sleeping in.
"I thought it was because I was a sexy yet short, near sighted, asthmatic scientist who just loves superheros and all the you consider nerdy?" Leonard asked giving her a confused look as he was sitting next to her and began to eat himself.
Penny looked in thought and held her fork up in the air as she swallowed her food. "Oh yeah! That too!" She smiled at him with a wink but couldn't hold back the laughter as Leonard frowned at her.
Sometime Later...
"So what was the whole point you brought me breakfast in bed?" Penny asked a little late as she handed Leonard her dirty dishes tilting her head slightly.
Leonard turned his head feeling quite upset quickly. "Really? You forgot what today is?"
Penny bit her lip as she wrapped he arms around Leonard's neck, but smiled anyways, "Aye, I'm just messin' with ya! I know what day exactly it is. So stop looking constipated and give me a kiss!" With that Penny rushed off to the guest bedroom and just hoped Leonard loved his present since pretty much she had idea he got her some kind of a romantic jester.
When she came back out, Leonard was now washing the dishes. "Here Babe!" Penny said letting him know she was back as she placed the heavy wrapped box on the kitchen island.
"What is that?" Leonard asked feeling confused on what Penny got him.
"Just open it you big nerd!" Penny told her husband as she sat in the bar stool as he kept giving her a questionable look.
"Oh cool!" Leonard felt like a little kid as he opened his gift from his wife and carefully lifting it carefully out of the box with Penny's help. "A 1989 hanging neon light Batman bat signal barlight!" The light alone had to be three feet long. "Where did you find this?" He asked looking at Penny with disbelief that he now owned one.
"Well when I went to the flea market with Amy last week, there was this vendor who was selling all this superhero crap that I never even seen at the comic book store. I saw the full scaled one that was six feet long but that would have been really hard to hide for a week. Plus carrying up the stairs with Amy would have been a pain in the ass." Penny acted like it was no big deal as she just shrugged her shoulders. But by the hug and the kiss Leonard was giving her, she knew she did a good job.
"I love it and I'm sure I can find the perfect spot for it..." Leonard gave Penny another kiss as he looked around to put the bar light.
"You know last year as you paid for dinner, I just paid for the hotel room and had sex all night." Penny said putting the reminder out there as she got up from the stool giving Leonard a kiss on the cheek.
"Yeah had to do something last year, since the year before we both kinda forgot our anniversary. Just to let you know today we are not going to a fancy restaurant, but your gift kinda involves our whole day...Oh right there would be perfect!" Leonard told Penny as he pointed above his cork board behind his desk. At least it would take the distraction off the huge painting of Amy and Penny, Leonard confessed that part. Which made Penny think of getting a storage unit to put it in eventually after finding an excuse to tell her best friend why she didn't have room for it anymore.
As the day went on...
"You really like me handing your ass to you, don't you?" Penny said after playing their third round of miniature golf.
"What can I say, I love having fun with my wife!" Leonard grinned ear to ear as they were handing over the golf balls and putters.
Penny squinted her eyes at him as she just shook her head. "Babe you know you don't have to suck up to me, we are having sex no matter what."
Leonard just laughed as they headed over to the food stand for a very unhealthy lunch. Penny ordered nachos and gave in for a diet coke as her and Leonard could share it. Leonard decided on a corn dog and fries but order extra due to the fact Penny would steal most of them. "So no complaints on my choice for lunch?" Leonard wondered as he felt unsure about it.
"Leonard I told you this morning I have faith in you for planning the whole day. So far it has been perfect and our bodies might regret it later but this food is amazing." Penny said stuffing a nacho in her mouth.
"Good because dinner will not be fancy either. And we have all day tomorrow to recover..." Leonard smiled as he couldn't help but think how adorable Penny was right now. He was just happy she was having a good time.
After eating, Leonard beat Penny in most of the arcade games and rubbed it in her face he was beating her ass this time. "Shut up!" is all Penny told him, but Leonard being such a nice guy and felt bad he gave Penny all his tickets and let her pick out her own prize. He couldn't help but laugh as Penny called him a suck up.
After the games, they went to play laser tag and beat a group of college kids. Then it was off to the races, well the go-kart races, with Penny winning four and Leonard winning two. By that time they were hungry so Leonard drove them to Taco Bell which to Penny was even better than the food stand. The couple decided to take their food home and eat there. Once they did, they finally settled down as Leonard let Penny pick out the movie. Which somehow led them to a make out session, to sex on the couch. As Leonard threw the afgan over their naked bodies, Penny laid on top of him and gave him a lingering kiss. "Mmm, best anniversary ever!" She confessed giving her husband a wink.
"I would say so, I love my cool bat signal bar light as you loved your gift of us just having fun..." Leonard returned the kiss.
Penny looked at her husband as her hands proped up her head, "Can you believe we have been married for four year? And if my calendar is right next week has been twelve years of the day met you, Sheldon, Raj, and Howard..." She gave Leonard a look of disbelief.
"Yeah I know...And now you would be lost without us nerds." Leonard couldn't help but look smug as Penny smacked his chest playfully.
She squinted at him, "Crazy as it seems, you are right... Maybe we should do something just the five of us next week?" Penny asked as she rose an eyebrow. She smiled as Leonard agreed and suggested sushi and karaoke like they did twelve years ago. "Sounds perfect babe! Now how about we celebrate our anniversary again in our bed and our twleve year anniversary of you looking over into my apartment and falling in love with me?" Penny couldn't help but suggest it.
"I couldn't think of a better way!" Leonard became excited all over again making Penny chuckle as he threw the afgan off their bodies and made her hurry their naked selves to their bedroom.
