Hey, here's my first story for The Owl House. Now, without further ado, here's the first chapter of Rise of Zeo. Enjoy.
Another day in the Owl House, another day of adventure. With a yawn, the residential human, Luz woke up with a stretch of her arms.
"Good morning, strange fantasy world!" Luz greeted the day with her usual optimism, "Good morning, Ki—" she would've greeted the adorable demon dog that normally sat at the foot of her sleeping bag, only find that he was nowhere to be seen, "Hm. I guess he must've gotten up early" she figured.
Luz then head to the bathroom where she proceeded to freshened up. When she got into her normal clothes, she made her way to Eda's room in hopes of getting the Owl Lady to teach her a new spell. However, those hopes were dashed when she found a note attached to the door.
"Dear Luz,
King and I went to go do something in town. Be back in a few hours"
-Eda
"Well, looks like I'm on my own for the next few hours. Hmm…" Luz rubbed her chin. "There's always more than one way to learn a new spell. To the library!" she said, pointing a finger to the air before running out of the house.
The Library…
Luz sat a table in the library. Having found a book of spells, she opened it up and began to read its content.
"Alright, there's a spell that turns you invisible; a spell for reviving a dead body for 24 hours; spells that allow you to enhance the size of specific body parts…" Luz looked down at her chest, and then at her backside, "I'll save that one for later" she muttered to herself, blushing a bit, "A spell that makes float for a day…" that's when she saw a spell that really caught her eye, "Ooh! A cloning spell!" she shouted with excitement, everyone else shushing her, "Sorry. Hm, this actually looks kind of fun. It shouldn't be too hard, right?"
"It might be, for a human" Luz heard a voice from beside her. Turning her head to the right, she saw her rival in magic.
"Amity? What're you doing here?" Luz asked.
"I just came here for a bit of quiet studying, but then I saw you here" Amity placed her hands on her hips, "You can barely do a light spell; do you really think a novice witch can perform a spell such as this? Let alone a human one?" she asked rhetorically, a slight mocking edge in voice.
"Well, anything is possible" Luz stood up from her seat, her optimism not wavering, "Who knows? I just might be able to pull it off" she added, walking off with the book under her arm, leaving Amity with a rather annoyed expression.
The Owl House…
Having checked out the book she was reading earlier, Luz returned to the Owl House. She had placed the book on the coffee table. Luz had taken a piece of white chalk and used it to draw a circle around herself. She then drew the owl symbol within the circle. Eda did say the bigger the circle, the more powerful the spell. Consider this circle was as big as the length from one of her arms to the other, it must be pretty powerful.
"Ok, the book said to concentrate and focus on the thing I'm trying to clone" Luz said, stepping back a bit from the circle, "With two of me, I could probably learn twice the spells!" she said to herself excitedly. "It also said the clone will vanish when hit; So, I should be careful" she added. "Well, here goes…"
Luz got on her knees, smacking the symbol with her hand. The symbol then glowed with a bright golden light before condensing into a small ball of magical energy. The novice witch then approached the energy ball.
"Whoa…" Luz said under her breath with slight amazement, cupping the energy ball in her hands.
It was in that moment that the front door burst open.
"Luz, we're back early" Eda the Owl Lady said, King standing beside her.
"Gah!" Luz jumped, having been startled by Eda's sudden appearance.
This, in turn, caused the ball of magic to unintentionally shoot out of Luz's hands. The three of them watched as the ball ricochet multiple times off the wall. It then bounced one last time off the ceiling before heading straight for Eda. The Owl Lady planned to put up a force field, however, there wasn't enough time; the magic ball had hit her square in the stomach before she had a chance to do so.
It must've been one powerful spell because the ball had knocked the wind out of her. She clenched her stomach in pain, sweating as her body flashed a rainbow of colors. Eda screamed at the top of her lungs before…
*BOOM*
An explosion of smoke engulfed the entire interior of the house. Luz and King coughed as the smoke cleared within a few seconds. When it did, they found Eda on her knees, groaning.
"Eda, are you ok?" Luz asked, running up to her mentor.
"I'm fine, Luz. A little groggy, but fine" Eda replied reassuringly, "That must be one powerful spell. I feel like a tiny portion of my energy's been zapped from me" she said as she stood up, rubbing her head a bit.
"That can't be good" King said.
"Eh, I'm sure it'll wear off" Eda shrugged, "Like I said: other than this, I feel fine" she repeated.
"And I feel alive…" The three of them heard a voice from behind them.
Turning around, they saw a boy around Luz's age. He wore a navy-blue shirt, along with black pants; on his legs were red boots with a black strap over each of them; on his arms were black, fingerless gloves that went up to his forearm. Over his shirt, he wore a red, hooded cloak.
The boy lowered his hood to reveal his face. He had a skin tone similar to Eda's. He had short, light sliver hair which was slicked back with two strands of hair sticking up and out in opposite directions of his widow's peak. His eyes were golden yellow. The three occupants of the Owl House could only stare at him as a smile appeared across his face.
"Hi, nice day" he greeted them.
And that's the end of this chapter. So, it looks like Eda has herself a clone. An actual clone. I'm just going to get this out of the way: this guy maybe a clone, but that doesn't mean he's going to be entirely like Eda. Some stuff I have planned will make him similar to Eda, while other stuff will make him different from her. What are those plans? You'll just have to keep reading to find out.
Also, his voice is that of Kyle Hebert, the voice of Adult Gohan from DBZ/DBGT/DB Super. So, when he talks, imagine Adult Gohan's voice.
