Hi, everyone! Hope all of you are safe.

I rewatched the episode in which Jane is watching an old photograph of Teresa, in her old house ( Season 7, episode 7). And I just got this idea.

It's a short, sweet fic. Hope you all like it.

" A lullably for a princess"

Jane looked at the old photograph while cooking some pasta, Lisbon was going to be late tonight so he guessed it would be him the one making dinner, and he knew she would be in the mood for some pasta with a lot, a lot of cheese.

He has put the water to boil when he got, once more, distracted by the picture he loved so much. He found the picture some years ago at her old house in Chicago, when they were trying to find his brother in law, Jimmy.

A young Teresa Lisbon looking at the camera, her dark hair and her breathtaking green eyes capturing her innocence and kindness even when she was still so young, just a teenager. He loved this picture deeply.

'Daddy?'

He turned to the small voice and he looked at the little girl.

Their daughter, Elisabeth Jane.

'Lizze, come here, my princess', he said as he took hold of his treasure.

'You're looking again at the photo, daddy. Mommy says you're a bit.. creep.. creep…'

'Creepy, sweetheart', he completed for her.

'Yeah, that's what I was saying Daddy', she told him in a bossy way and he was struck once more by the resemblance of her with her mother.

Lizzie was an authentic copy of Teresa Lisbon Jane. She got her curly dark hair, her emerald big green eyes and her freckles. Her stubbornness too. Although, he could say even when she was still just 5 years old, she got… his sense of humour. If one could put it that way.

On the other hand, their boy, Charlie Jane was a copy of himself. Golden curls and blue eyes. He was still just 1 year old, too early to say whose personality would be the most prominent. His boy, he thought with a smile.

'It's like you created a clone machine', said Cho in awe holding Charlie in the hospital. Cho looked at him, and then, he looked at Lizzie with a smile, ' Seriously, boss, they are copy of both of you… I hope he behaves like you, though'

'Thank you, Kimball', said a weary Teresa Lisbon laughing slightly, she was exhausted, she had just given birth to their second child a few hours ago.

'Congratulations to both of you…, I will take care of Lizzie these days, no worries okay?', said Cho as Lizzie extended her arms towards her uncle who took her in his arms with a wide smile.

The team was their family, after all. Their children treated the team as a family, always wanting to see their uncle Cho or asking when uncle Wayne and auntie Gracie would come to visit them.

He smiled thinking how blessed he is, of having such a great and loving family.

'Daddy, my belly hurts', said Lizzie touching her belly and he could see it in her small face.

'Why didn't you tell me sooner, love?, he asked the little girl in resignation.

He knew the answer already.

'You would worry too much as mommy says', said the little girl.

Yep.

The girl was a living authentic copy of his wife.

…..

He covered his little girl so she would be as comfy as possible. He sat in a chair next to her bed caressing her curly hair and smiled lovingly at his princess. He has put Charlie to sleep a few minutes ago, he has found sleep fast, leaving him alone with Lizzie, who looked as if she was trying her best not to fall asleep, probably waiting for her mother to come home, to tuck her in her bed in a way only mothers know how to.

'Sing me to sleep, daddy. Sing me one of your songs', she asked him with her bright eyes.

'Want to hear a story of a princess who became a dragon slayer?, he asked her and she gasped in awe.

'Yes, Daddy! Please!'

'Okay.. okay, but you have to close your eyes and stay still or the magic will go away, okay?', he told her as he covered her once more with the blankets she has moved in excitement.

'Okay…

So here it's the story,

Of a little princess

With hair as dark as the night,

And eyes as green as emerald precious stones.

She didn't know the meaning of fear,

She has fought evil since she was a small child',

he started to sing to his small girl who looked at him in delight.

' A peasant met her

When he was at his worse.

The princess ,

Generous and selfless as she was,

In her castle

She told him to stay,

Surrounded by the bravest warriors

He's ever seen'

He smiled while singing , thinking of all the times Lisbon has risked her life and reputation to keep him safe. All those times, the team became his refugee even when he was too blind to see.

'The princess,

Fearless and honest,

Fought every monster they met,

She slayed a dragon…'

He thought about that time when she got obsessed with Volker and how she managed to defeat him, sending him to jail. She fought relentlessly until he paid for his crimes.

'And,

Each dragon heard of her

Afraid of her power.

You'll see, my girl,

The princess helped the peasant

She helped him defeating the worst dragon of all

And she saved him after that battle.

The princess continued saving the peasant's life,

Again and again and again'

He closed his eyes when he thought of that time, so many years ago, when he killed Red John. He couldn't have done it, he couldn't have catch the man without her help. And he wouldn't have recovered his life, his heart without her.

He still remembered the joy he felt when she accepted his proposal of marriage.

'The princess saved the peasant's life,

And the peasant

Who has fallen in love

A long, long, long

Time ago

With her pure soul

Decided he would build her a new castle,

And he would make her his queen'

He ended up his song when he noticed his daughter smiling in her sleep. He leant to kiss her forehead, relieved at the feeling of not noticing any fever. She was probably just tired and her belly ached because of it.

He turned then to the door and he smiled at the sight.

There she was.

His queen.

'Dragon slayer?, asked a bewildered Teresa Lisbon as she extended her arm to him.

He took her hand, brought it to his mouth to kiss it gently, smiling to her.

'It's the truth, isn't it?, he asked her and she smiled at him.

All those years together and they still got lost in each other's eyes as if it was their first day together. They have worked together for 12 years and they have gotten married almost 6 years ago.

And he thanked God everyday for it.

'I was thinking I would serve dinner to my queen, and after all.. who knows, maybe I can take her to the moon', he told her teasingly.

'You, charmer', she told him kissing him deeply.

'You married me. You cannot complain'

'Who says I cannot?', she asked him laughing when he took her in his arms, smiling at each other.

He was indeed blessed to have his family.

Their children.

His wife.
