Kaliana Zalia sighed as she wandered through the Jedi Temple. She was on the way to a new job she was less than enthusiastic about. True, she had decided that a quiet temple job would be more peaceful than her last mission, which had led to a whole heap of trouble, including the disturbing fact that she was related to a Sith...

And now she was in need of a way to avoid that family reunion too. But her new job as youngling master, which she was fairly sure just translated to 'babysitter', wasn't one she looked forward to. She considered herself a nice person, but she secretly despised children. They were loud, sticky and often irritating. To Kaliana, a quiet neat freak, they were a nightmare.

But they were better than her family. Because they were also loud, messy and often irritating. And they didn't have the excuse of being too young to know better. But, she had theorised, she couldn't possibly be dragged to a family reunion if she was busy babysitting.

So, she stepped into the room where she had to go. Instantly, she was bombarded by shouting. In front of her, children of various ages ran in all directions, yelling, oblivious to her presence. Something flew up into the air and hit her in the face. She grabbed it irritably. On closer inspection, it appeared to be stuffed Bantha.

She sighed. This was going to be 'fun'... Stepping into the middle of the room, a somewhat precarious task as various infants got under her feet, she coughed, trying to draw attention to herself without having to raise her voice.

After this was completely ignored a few times, she called out, "Attention please!" Loudly. Silence descended and hundreds of eyes turned to her, inspected her curiously for a few seconds, then lost interest and returned to their shouting.

She tried a new tactic, holding up the toy. "Whose is this?!" She demanded to know. The children turned to look at her again. There was some giggling, which was at a loss to pinpoint.

Then a small Zabrak child pushed to the front and raised one tanned hand, stretching out to try to take the toy. She handed it over quietly.

After that was sorted out, she seemed to have everyone's attention. It was silent and several pairs of eyes stared at her intently. This was almost as disconcerting as the other way around. Unsure what was expected of her now, Kaliana made her way through the crowd to her new desk and sat down.

The rows of eyes continued to stare. She cleared her throat, fiddled with a datapad in front of her and searched for some way to proceed. Something slightly horrifying occurred to her. She didn't just dislike children, she was a little scared of them. Her, a fearless Jedi hero, unable to face a group of five-year-olds!

She decided she had to get over this, sat up straight and opened her mouth to speak.

"Hey, Kali! Finally found you!" A loud, annoyingly familiar voice drowned her attempt to speak out. She, and her entire class, looked over to the doorway.

A dark-skinned figure in white robes grinned back at her. "I've been looking everywhere, what's going on here?" Alina, her much less orthodox Jedi relative, demanded to know.

Kaliana was slightly relieved, in spite of everything, to see Alina. At least it allowed her to put her plan into action. It was Alina's idea to have a family reunion, after all.

"I have a new job. It is my first day," She revealed, gesturing to the children to explain.

To her horror, Alina let out a squeal of delight, "Ooh, really? How adorable, Mummy Kali and her little ones!"

This caught the attention of the assembled younglings. One of them turned to her and proffered the question, "Are you Mummy Kali?"

She sighed deeply, gave Alina her best death glare, then replied, with as much diginity as she could muster, "No. I am Master Zalia."

The child shook its head, "Mummy Kali." It insisted. This was echoed by its classmates.

Alina chuckled, "And I'm Auntie Alina. Need any more help, Kali?"

"You are not helping. Leave." Kaliana retorted sharply. That wasn't entirely true though, she noted reluctantly. It was difficult to be intimidated by someone who was calling you 'Mummy'.

"Nah, I think I'll stick around. If two of us do the job, you'll be finished in time to catch the shuttle."

"What shuttle?"

"For tonight? We're off to Nar Shaddaa to see the family!" Alina pointed out.

Kaliana gave no response. It wouldn't be appropriate for a Jedi to say what she was thinking.
