Chapter 2

"Mr. and Mrs. Deeks thank you for getting here on such short notice," the lawyer said shaking both their hands and motioning for them to have a seat. "I know you are very busy and so am I so I'm gonna get straight the point. Mr. Hanna listed the two of you as legal gaurdians of his daughter Kamron if anything should happen to him," the lawyer took note of the couples shocked looks and continued. "I realized that this may be unexpected but I want you to know that there are other options. If you would choose to decline there is a chance that Kamron could be raised by her brother if he is financially and physical able to take care of her ir we could look for other family members to take care of her. If not then she would be placed in the system but I should tell you that kids her age usually don't get adopted. We want to make sure you have time to think about this and aren't pressured into making a decision so you will have a week to decide what you want to do."

"Wow," Deeks said when they walked out of the office.

"I had no idea that Sam listed us," Kensi said.

"Me either," Deeks replied. "What...what should we do?"

"I mean we're gonna take her right?" Kensi asked.

"Yea, of course. Maybe we should just take a night and sleep on it. It's a big decision we can talk about it in the morning."

"Yea, we have a week and she's safe with Aidan right now she'll be ok for a few days," Kensi added.

Now she was laying awake in bed and all she could think about was Kam being tossed around to different foster parents or living on the street.

"Deeks are you awake," Kensi whispered.

"Yea, I can't sleep," Deeks answered.

"We have to take Kam she can't be shuffled around to different homes or living on the street. I know this isn't the way we ever imagined becoming parents but if Sam trusted us then we should do it," Kensi said.

"I was thinking the same thing. Maybe we should talk to Kam first though to make sure she's ok with it."

"Yea that's a good idea." Kensi said before they both drifted off to sleep.
