"Sam how come I didn't hear until this morning that you gonna be taking a few weeks off?" Callen asked Sam as soon as he sat down at his desk.
"It was unexpected I'm sorry I was planning on telling you today." Sam said.
"Is everything ok?" Kensi asked clearly just as upset as Callen that she didn't know about his vacation.
"Yea, Kam coming home for good."
"What I thought she loved military academy?" Callen asked.
"She does. Look we've discussed this and we both think that it's just not the right fit for her. I'm proud of her for trying it out and giving her all but it's just not what she wants to do with her life," Sam said.
"Are you gonna keep staying in the boat?" Deeks asked.
"Because if you need a place to stay there's still an apartment above the bar," Kensi added.
"As much as I appreciate the offer that's gonna be a hard no," Sam said imagining living across from Callen. "I've been looking for places I think I found one. Kam said she would live in the boat but I told her that wasn't necessary."
"Well when are you coming back to work?" Callen asked.
"I don't know it shouldn't be long I just wanna make sure she gets settled in and I'm excited to get to spend more time with my little girl."
Kensi thought back to this conversation they had in the bullpen a few weeks ago while she lied in bed unable to sleep. How excited Sam was to be able to spend more time with his daughter. Her mind drifted to a few hours ago replaying the events of earlier today over again in her head.
