Stephanie is extremely critical of her own actions and very smart, but she can be just as self-deprecating as her father when she's stressed. She also watches a lot of sci-fi movies. She thinks logically and will be more focused on getting home than anything else because while she desperately wants to get to know her dad, she doesn't want to screw the timeline up and not be born.
Stephanie landed with a thud on the floor of what looked like her grandpa's house, but it was different, instead of stair rounding the corner to the bedroom, they went straight up to a loft where a young 13-year-old kid was playing video games.
"Ow," said Stephanie as she banged her head on the floor.
"Who are you?" asked Steven
'Shoot, how do I answer this, the truth or do I lie, or a half-truth,' she thought, panicking
"Um, I'm Stephanie," she said
"How did you get here?" asked Steven
"I'm from the future, stupid time glass made me touch it," she said
"Ok, he's not freaking out, that's good, the gems could come through any moment, I need a convincing lie,' she thought
"Oh cool! Are we related, you kinda look like me," asked Steven
'And there it is, shoot how do I answer this,?' thought Stephanie
"Um yeah, I'm your great great great granddaughter," she said, hoping he believed her.
"COOL!" said Steven
"Um yeah, I really wanted to meet you so I guess the time glass brought me here," said Stephanie
"Are there flying cars in the future? Is the 20th dogcopter movie as good as the 3rd?" asked Steven
"No, and I think that franchise stopped after movie 9," said Stephanie
"Oh, that's too bad, Hey if you're related to me does that me you have my gem?" asked Steven. Stephanie lifted her shirt showing off the pink gemstone.
"That's so awesome, have you gotten your powers yet? How old are you?" asked Steven
"Most of them, just not any of the healing stuff and I just recently turned 12," she said
'So far so good, he doesn't' suspect much,' she thought to herself. Suddenly the warp pad activated and the gems arrived.
"STEVEN! WHO IS THIS?" asked Pearl, getting into a fighting stance
"My name is Stephanie, I'm from the future,"
"How is this possible?" asked Pearl
"I accidentally touched a time glass, I'm from many years in the future," said Stephanie
"She's my great great great granddaughter!" piped Steven. Garnet looked skeptical and frowned.
'Shoot, future vision, I'll have to talk to her one on one,' thought Stephanie as she gave a nervous wave.
"Um yeah, sorry to drop in so suddenly, I was on a mission and the time glass kinda called to me, it was too hard to resist," said Stephanie
"Awesome dude you can become best friends with someone from your future!" said Amethyst
"Yeah, OH! I have to tell Connie!" exclaimed Steven. Stephanie's heart skipped a beat, meeting her mom before her parents even became a couple? How was she going to explain how she looked extremely similar to Connie.
'If I reveal anything drastic about the future it could alter the timeline to the point where I'm never born, I definitely did not think this through,' thought Stephanie. Steven was on the phone with Connie and Stephanie sat nervously on the couch before looking at Garnet who was staring at her.
"Um, I'm gonna go into Gr- I mean Rose's room," said Stephanie standing up and walking quickly towards the temple door. Once inside she sat down.
"What was I thinking? I'm going to create a paradox if I'm not careful!" groaned Stephanie
"Why did I touch that stupid glass? Now everything is going to be screwed up if I can't get home and I'll ruin my dad's life to the point where he won't want to have me at all then the stupid cycle would just repeat! GRR PARADOXES ARE THE WORST THING ABOUT TIME TRAVEL!" she shouted. She began pacing.
"How am I gonna get to that planet to get the time glass? It's obvious the diamonds and homeworld is still the enemy, grandma's portrait is still on the wall, Garnet isn't wearing wedding rings so they don't know grandma was a diamond, and now I've just made a stupid lie that I'm gonna have to follow through until either I slip up or Garnet calls me out on it!" she growled to herself. Then she sighed
"Ok Step one, figure out when in dad's life I am, step two unlock my healing powers, step three, get to the galaxy warp and fix it without being thought of as a homeworld spy! Step four get off-planet to colony one, step five, get the time glass and get home. All this without altering the timeline," she rationalized running a hand through her hair.
"Ok, I have my sword, I have my supplies, maybe if I hang out in here and try to unlock the power on my own I can sneak out and fix the warp. But if I'm in here too long they are definitely going to get suspicious and send dad in here after me!" she tugged at her hair. Then she noticed a weird glow. She looked at her skin. She was glowing pink.
"REALLY! I GET THIS BEFORE HEALING POWERS! NOW I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS TOO!" she shouted before sinking to her knees. She suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder.
"Are you alright?" came a soft feminine voice. She looked up and saw the room's manifestation of her grandmother.
"Oh yeah, the room can do this," she muttered. Then facepalmed
'WHY DIDN'T I JUST HAVE THE ROOM MANIFEST DAD WHILE I WAS STILL IN MY OWN TIMELINE!' she internally screamed at herself.
"Hey, hey, it's alright," came Rose's soothing voice
"Are you really her, or are you just the room because I don't want this thing telling me what I want to hear!" she snapped.
"In this place, I can exist outside the gem, your father can too, all you have to do is call for him," said Rose
'So you know who I am?" asked Stephanie. Rose smiled at her and nodded
"I don't think dad would want to see me right now, I just screwed up so badly that him giving up his life for me will no longer mean anything!" she growled. She really didn't know who's side of the family she got her temper from but it always showed when she was angry, particularly at herself.
"I'm heading back out there, if I'm in here too long they'll get suspicious," said Stephanie, standing up and leaving. Why did she suddenly feel so antagonistic to her grandmother? Was she feeling her dad's emotions? Or were these her own from all the stories of Rose's mistakes.
"I have to get home," she said and walked out of the room.
