Jarko had made the mistake of attempting to touch Abigail. She had never seen Jared so unhinged.

He had ripped Jarko's head from his shoulders, all before Abigail could even blink. She will never forget the look of raw possessiveness in his blue, bloodshot eyes or how he had growled the one word that made her flush a pretty pink hue.

"MINE."

That statement alone caused Abigail's body to freeze in shock. Once, Jarko's body was nothing but a pulped mess was Jared satisfied.

Blood smeared from his mouth down to his chin. His clothed chest moving with ragged breath from his feast. Jared's eyes were glowing a vibrant cobalt blue. The over-head lights casting a shadow upon his face. Abigail slowly stood from her previous position on the ground.

The sound of her moving caused Jared to look from the bloody remains to her hunched figure. His intense gaze landed on her. It was not the blood that scared her, but the fierce love that was being shown through his eyes. She had only seen that look once in her life, shared between her mother and father before a group of vampires ruined everything. The rustle of clothing interrupted her current train of thought.

Jared's movements slow as if he were afraid that she would run from him.

Abigail could feel her heart pounding against her rib cage as he closed the distance between them. His hand, still covered in Jako's blood, reached up to cradle her cheek. The rough calluses felt thrilling against her soft skin. Jared leaned his head against hers, wanting to be close to her as possible. He was so close she was afraid he could feel her rapid heart beating. Abigail knew she should feel disgusted with what had transpired before her eyes, but she couldn't find it within herself to care. All she could see and feel was him. For what seemed like an eternity, Jared responded in a low raspy voice.

"Mine"

The sound of his voice made her shiver in anticipation. Her arms wrapped around his waist, pulling him more towards her till they were pressed together. Jared trembled from feeling her voluptuous body against his. Staring up at Jared from below her lashes, waiting for his reaction.

She was not disappointed.

Jared bloody lips brushed against her soft ones. This kiss was unlike any other she had experienced. It was full of pure intensity and passion. The blood did not deter her from enjoying the kiss. It caused her head to spin and her knees to feel weak.

As if reading her thought, Jared brought his arms to wrap around her waist. The heat rose to her cheeks as her tongue touched sought out his, quick and delicious, then firmer, more determined, more curious about the heat that lay within. Abigail could feel his scar against her lips as she explored his hot cavern.

The world disappeared around them. Jarko's body lay forgotten in the corner. Jared felt right against her. It brought a sense of peace to her mind. She wanted it to last forever. The burning in her lungs became too strong to ignore. Abigail broke the kiss with a gasp. Her red lips taking in mouth fulls of precious air. Their foreheads resting against each other as they recovered. Abigail was elated to realize she was not the only one affected by their kiss.

"Why?" Abigail had a breathless tone along with a dazed look in her eyes. His shoulders tensed under her hands.

"You treated me as if I was a person... That's what made me love you." His voice was so quiet, Abigail was afraid she had missed his answer. Her lips quivered as she replied in a breathless tone.

"I..I love you too, Jared."

All tension was disappeared from his shoulders at hearing her confession. Never in his life has anyone accepted and returned his love. A reliefed smile spread across his face. Seeing how happy he was made her pull Jared into a second kiss. Abigail chuckled as he pulled her closer relishing the feel of her lips against his. Both wishing to spend eternity within each-others arms. That is until Hannibal walked in.

" WHAT HAPPENED?!"
