Hey!" Kuri waved Naruto over as he entered Konoha temple. She was decked out in her formal miko garb, the one with the bells on it. It was clearly the Lunar Festival. And he had almost missed it! Naruto loved the Kuri Dango she made for the festivities, in fact, she was almost famous for it.
"Did you finish training before me?" he asked.
"No way," she said. "I mastered the Hiko methods of the sword, but I have yet to master the Tsubasa. That and I've been working on my Astral Projection. I want to be able to use all my powers in Astral form, but…no luck."
She shrugged, a laugh on her lips.
"You sure did do a lot," Naruto said. "I'm so strong now, that it'd be illegal for me to tussle with you, Kuri-chan. Such a shame ttebayo."
Kuri held out a plate of dango. "I know you didn't come to just shoot the breeze with me. It's my cooking that drove you, Naruto. And by the way, though you didn't ask, Reiko's doing well. Sasuke's been teaching her how to use her powers and she has her own weapon that I gave her."
Naruto choked on his dango, glaring at Kuri. "You gave my little sister a weapon?"
Kuri deadpanned. "She's older than you Naruto. And she bonded with it. It gave itself to her. Some weapons have a spirit of their own. It's called the Naginata of Kenkon. Her attacks are electricity based, and she's been able to touch and handle electricity. Probably due to her light-base nature."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Reiko's got light based chakra?" Kuri said. "This gives Reiko the ability to do strange things like orb, which means she teleports by dissolving into orbs of light. She can also avoid attacks by dissolving like that."
"I hate to interrupt one of your long winded explanations, but we're being followed ttebayo."
"I know," Kuri laughed. "I've been leading."
She stopped in a dead end alley, and they were instantly surrounded by some zombie style street toughs. "K-Kill…"
Kuri flung out her hands and the toughs froze. "They are infected humans, so the freeze won't hold them long. My powers are only potent against the truly evil."
"Great," grunted Naruto. "I'll take them in one shot. Rasengan!"
The freeze came undone and the zombies all fell to the ground as a fire of chakra hit each of them hard. Tiny bugs crawled out of their mouths.
"Good job guys," Kakashi said, coming out of the shadows. "This was your next mission. The Hokage got a letter from the Mugen demanding that Konoha to allow them to enter the village or else they would infect all of the humans and have them destroy each other. They are being controlled by a whistle held by the leader of the Mugen in the city, and you must destroy it."
Kakashi lead them to a secret tunnel that connected the human world to the Mugen's castle.
"Well here I go!" Without any hesitation Naruto jumped down.
"Sasuke and Reiko are already there." Kakashi said.
"Well now I have to go!" Kuri muttered.
"Hold on!" Kakashi said, and gave him a communicator that would enable them to communicate between both the villages. "This will allow us to communicate."
"Got it," Kuri said and jumped down.
Naruto arrived in the castle only to see Kuri surrounded by hundreds of demons.
"A little help here Naruto!" shouted Kuri, edging back, freezing groups of them and throwing them into walls, knocking them out with her telekinesis, only to be crowded in by more. She summoned Kiboken just as Naruto landed next to her.
"Hiko!"
"Rasengan!"
All the little demons were knocked to the ground.
"So you are not completely useless," Sasuke commented, landing next to them with Reiko.
"Of course not," Reiko corrected him.
"Don't think we are friends Naruto," Sasuke said. "I will turn on you when I get the chance."
"No," Reiko said. "You won't."
Her voice had the fire that also rang in Sasuke's, and Sasuke himself submitted to her challenge.
The four ninja now entered the demons' castle only to be greeted by a flying eye monster.
"Welcome to Maze Castle," it said. "Those who wish to pass this point must be tried by the Gate of Betrayal."
The monster pulled a lever and suddenly the ceiling started to descend, leaving the four trapped beneath, holding it up.
