It was an ordinary day as Helen Parr walked back to her car after some light shopping.
"Can't believe the deals I got today," said Helen. Suddenly, she bumped someone's shoulder and knocked them to the ground.
"Oh, I'm so sor...ry," said Helen as she looked at the woman with wide eyes.
"I… it's alright, I wasn't paying attention," said the woman.
"Gail, is that you?" asked Helen as a few tears started to well up.
"You know my name?" asked the woman. She had a few burns on the right side of her face but otherwise looked alright.
"Gail, it's me, Helen," said Helen.
"I'm sorry, I got amnesia years ago after some accident, I don't remember you," said Gail who was avoiding eye contact.
"We were good friends back in high school," said Helen.
"Oh, well it's nice to meet an old friend, sorry to cut this short but I have to get to the soup kitchen, don't want to lose my place," said Gail.
"Wait, why don't you come over to my place and have some food there?" asked Helen with a friendly smile.
"I… I don't know," said Gail.
"I'm sorry, to you I'm just another stranger right now, I understand if you don't want to," said Helen.
"No, I have a feeling that I can trust you, Helen, but are you really alright with me coming over?" asked Gail as she looked at her clothes which were filthy.
"You're a friend so of course, and if you want, feel free to use our guest bath, I have some clothes that would fit you if you would like something new to wear," said Helen that friendly smile still on her face.
"So, I take it you're married?" asked Gail as they made their way to the car.
"Yeah, and we have three kids together," said Helen.
"I'm sure they will be happy to see you," said Helen as they got into the car.
