Gunshots rang out through the night breaking the silence of the darkness sending rats skittering towards their holes. There was a brief moment of silence before more shots rang out followed by the sound of shattering glass as two bodies fell out of the high windows of the old warehouse. As they hit the ground the smaller of the two rolled to the side a few feet before springing to their knee, two black revolvers snapping up to aim at the large beast that was growling and pawing at the ground with razor sharp claws. The beast, for that was the only real way to describe it, looked like a large wolf only twisted and hunched so it stood on two crooked legs. Its fur was black as night while white bone like protrusions stuck out of its body in different places, black ichor dripped from gleaming fangs as its red eyes focused on its opponent.
"Tch." The figure clicked her tongue in annoyance seeing her earlier shots had missed their marks, frankly she wasn't to surprised running and preforming acrobatics to dodge attacks by the thinnest margin didn't do her aim any favors. With barely a twitch the woman fired all twelve shots from her twin revolvers in the blink of an eye, each hitting different spots on the creature's body riddling it with holes drawing black ichor. The beast howled in pain as it rushed her thinking that now that she had expended all her ammo she was defenseless.
The woman however calmly sprang to the side dodging the beast's claws by mere centimeters rolling on her shoulder. As she did she flicked open the cylinders of her revolvers letting the spent rounds drop to the ground, when she reach it so her hips were on the ground she rolled the cylinders across her belt that had small loops holding more gleaming bullets. When an empty chamber moved over the bullet, the bullet seemed to pass through the cylinder to rest in the chamber. Once all chambers were loaded the woman flicked the cylinders back into position and spun to face the beast, the whole process took less than a second. The now empty loops on her belt refilled with bullets as if by magic.
The beast seeing the woman was still ready to fight did the first smart thing and trusted its instincts and ran heading towards the street. "Damn it." The woman cursed as she started firing the revolvers again giving chase as she did. Each round landed breaking the bone protrusions but failing to do significant damage to the creature. "Yang it's coming your way." She yelled out as the beast darted down a break in the alley and down a smaller alley.
The creature it felt the air around it shift causing it to duck its head just slightly avoiding the explosion that ripped into the brick of the warehouse. "Shit." Another voice spat as a woman came into view from the direction the new shot came from. A tall woman with long blonde hair glared at the creature as she pumped a new round into her gun, a long red cylinder fell to the ground. "I fucking hate these things." Bracing her shotgun hip, she pulled the trigger again in quick succession timing her shots so she could quickly pump in a new round. Large slugs of lead raced towards the beast hitting it hard enough to gouge out large holes in its body causing it to slump to its knees. The blonde sighed as she walked up to the beast keeping her gun trained on it just in case it was trying to trick her. "Go back to hell abomination." The blonde glared at the creature before pulling the trigger on her shotgun, only to get a click from the gun. The blonde blinked in confusion before frowning and looking at her gun. She cocked her head to the side. "One in the wall, two on the right, one in the leg… Oh… wait one in the left abdomen." The blonde cringed slightly. "Oops, I miscounted." The blonde gave off a chuckled before quickly dodging back from the wild swipe of the creature's claw. "Oh fuck you, you mangy mutt." The blonde dropped her left hand to her side and whipped up a double-barreled sawed-off shotgun and squeezed both triggers. The twin slugs ripped off the top of the creature's head causing it to slump to the ground, black ichor spilling from the gaping wound. The blonde shook her head as she lowered the second gun just as the first woman came running up. "Grimm's down." The blonde smiled.
"Good." The first woman said as she examined the body, it had started to smoke and dissolve into black ash. "Let's head back to the summoning circle, we need to confirm the priests are dead." She spun her revolvers into their holsters on her sides as she turned on her heel away from the creature. The blonde frowned before she holstered her sawed-off and slung her shotgun over her shoulder.
She quickly followed the retreating woman her frown deepening. "Hey sis, you okay?" She asked the woman as she caught up with her. She easily stood a head taller than the woman and she had long full golden blonde hair the woman beside her had short cropped hair that was slightly longer in length that was a mix of jet black and deep crimson. Her eyes were a light lilac while her companion's eyes were a startling sterling silver. And while she had a slightly carefree aura about her the other woman was deadly serious. "Ru-"
"I'm fine Yang." The other woman cut over her. Her tone was sharp enough to cut steel like butter. "Let's just finish this."
"Right." Yang nodded as she fell in line beside the shorter woman. She understood why this case was causing her sister so much trouble. They had caught it roughly five days ago when a friend of their in the local police had approached them about some missing women, their leads had hit dead end after dead end and the one real lead they had left wouldn't be taken seriously by any District Attorney; ancient cults that used human sacrifices to summon eldritch abominations wasn't good enough to sign a search warrant. That and each woman was a high risk victim to begin with meant that it was slowly becoming a case the captain of the force asking to either be shelved or closed.
They had done some initial investigation before hitting down their usual spots for information using channels that police weren't allowed to use to dig deeper, but it wasn't until earlier this morning that the case had really heated up. Their friend called them stating that a little girl had been taken from her home, the abduction matching the others. That was when they knew the clock was ticking much faster than they had expected. They had spent the day chasing leads like mad hunting for those they feared were behind it. When they had finally tracked down the sect that they suspected had done all the abductions they were too late.
They had burst into the warehouse just moments after the small child's heart had been cut free of her body. The black priest chanting out the final words to summon a demon from another dimension. The priest and his followers had been blown back as the twisted wolf emerged into the mortal plane. That was what lead them to chase the creature through the abandoned warehouses trying to prevent it from reaching any populated areas where it could wreck havoc and kill any number of people.
Yang knew seeing that small child die before them sent her sister into a rage, she had been doing this for a lot longer than she had and had a fierce hatred towards the cultist. She blamed herself for any death suffered at their hands, if only she was a second faster, if only she was a step ahead of them, if only she had hunted them down sooner. Yang hated seeing her sister like this but it there was little she could do about it. With a sigh the blonde looked over at the younger woman, her silver eyes a blaze as she continued to march forward.
When they reached the warehouse it had started in her sister's stride quickened. Yang followed her gaze and saw movement along the back wall away from where the circle had been drawn. Knowing that she would rather handle it alone Yang stayed back and pulled out her cell phone and placing a call.
"You fucking bastard." The woman seethed has she reached the person who was moving seeing it was the priest that had conducted the summoning, he was bleeding heavily from a wound on his abdomen making her wonder how he was alive. "You unfeeling, uncaring, bastard. How dare you use these innocent people in such a disgusting way."
The priest looked up at her and started to chuckle only to double over in a coughing fit as blood sprayed out of his mouth. "You foolish girl, you think those women were innocent? Whores, prostitutes, drug addicts, innocent? We did those pitiful souls a favor by using them in our glorious rite."
"They may not have been the most righteous of people but that doesn't give you the right to use them like lambs to the slaughter to summon one of those beasts." The woman roared at dying man.
"We do not summon beasts, child." The priest hissed, "We call upon our gods, begging for the salvation of this world. They should be honored to be used in such a way."
"Then why the girl?" The woman glared down at him. "I know the rites; I know none of them demand the sacrifice of a child."
"And look at the help our gods had sent before; they were weak and small, easily killed by the likes of your order. But look at the being I managed to call here, strong and powerful, enough to challenge even you, Daughter of the Reaper." The woman's eyes hardened causing the priest to chuckle again, "Oh yes I know who you are little Huntress. Those silver eyes mark you as her daughter. Trying to live up to your mother's legacy? She would be so disappointed in you, failing to save such a little girl." The man dissolved into laughter before more blood spewed up past his lips.
The woman glared down at the man before slowly drawing one of her revolvers. "You're right. I am trying to live up to my mother's legacy, but the only thing she would be disappointed in is the fact that I let you live this long." Pulling back the hammer she took aim at the man's head, "Burn in Hell you piece of shit." With a quick squeeze of the trigger she put a bullet into the man's skull ending his life. Turning on her heel she looked over at the circle that had been burned into the concrete. Originally it had been drawn in the blood of the missing women but when the summoning had been completed the power that had surged through the sigils and runes had caused the blood to become superheated and burn into the stone. Resting in the middle of the large circle was a black marble alter. Various body parts from the women were placed about it but it was what was resting in the center of the alter that held her attention; the small body of a child.
The child couldn't have been more than five years old; she was laying in such a way that it almost looked like she was sleeping. Her brown hair was splayed about head looking like a halo, her arms rested easily by her side. The only things that gave away that she wasn't asleep was the look of terror that shone in her eyes, and the gaping hole in her chest were her heart should have been. Beside her body was a small clump of charcoal, the only remains of her heart. When the woman reached the alter she fell to her knees hanging her head.
"I'm sorry." She apologized to the small body, "I should have been quicker. I should have found you; you didn't deserve this." A few tears escaped her eyes as she shut them. "I'm so sorry." She squeezed her hands into tight balls causing the leather of her gloves to squelch in protest of the strain.
She felt a hand rest on her shoulder and she looked up to see Yang standing over her. "We should have been quicker. And next time we will be. You know what Qrow's always saying 'You can't win them all', Dad's said the same thing, so has Raven. This time we didn't win, this time we only drew even."
"Even isn't good enough Yang." She said as she wiped at her eyes. "Even doesn't save people."
"Even kept hundreds safe tonight, if we had let that beast get away who knows how many would have died. Even gave those bastards what they deserved. Even kept us safe to hunt another day." Yang shook her head; sometimes here sister took the world on her shoulders and refused to let anyone carry it with her. "Come on, I've called Blake. She and Neo are on their way with some others to help clear the scene before calling the police." While a few people outside of their order knew of their business and what they did but they had to keep it from the general population, if the people knew that their world was full of monsters and creatures they thought were just myths the whole world would dissolve into mass chaos.
The woman tilted her head back and will her tears to stop before nodding, and holding out her hand. With a small smile Yang hoisted her up before dusting off the back of her sister's long leather coat. "Yang." The woman protested, "I'm not a little girl anymore."
"Oh but you are my younger sister. And it's my job to make sure you're taken care of." Yang smiled down at her before looking at her watch. "Now it's still early, feel like a bite?"
The woman sighed and looked down at the little girl. Her heart was still heavy but she knew that if she let this break her then many others would be put in danger, others would face the same fate as this small child. For her sake and for hundreds of others that would come she had to keep soldiering on. Raising her hand she gently land it over the child's eyes closing them. "Yeah, I could go for something." She smiled up at the blonde, "Thanks Yang."
"Anytime Ruby."
"The bodies recovered at the warehouse fire are believed to be those of gang members though officials believe they will not be able to identify them due to the damage the fire did to them. While city officials are saddened by the loss of life the fire has caused it has made their decision on what to do with the area much easier as the proposal to turn the area into a skate park as been approved. Once the investigation is done council members hope to start accepting bids to do clean up and construction." The reporter said over the tv drawing a pair of ice blue eyes to the screen. The picture showed the scene of several burnt down buildings and firetrucks spaying water over the dying embers. The whole roof of the warehouse had collapsed down into it and a few walls had collapsed as well in others. "In other news the search for five year old Loran Clinton has ended in tragedy. The fiver year old was reported missing early yesterday morning by her parents when they went to check up on the girl only to find her window broke and the girl missing. Police searched franticly for the missing girl only to discover her body a few miles from her home in the trunk of a suspect's car. The suspect was discovered in his home where he apparently killed himself. As of now police are not releasing details of who the suspect is or the details around the death of Loran or the suspect." The pair of eyes looked down in sadness at the new, it wasn't likely the girl was going to be found alive but there was still the chance. "This is Lisa Lavender with VNN."
"Hey, Frost" A voice called, "Couple at table ten would like coffee and check if they're ready to order."
Blue eyes blinked bringer their owner back to reality and making the woman turn from the screen. White hair held up in a French braid bobbed as she nodded, "Sure thing Kia." She called back grabbing the pot of coffee off of the warmer and walking out onto the dinner floor. At twenty four years old, with a Masters in business management and two Bachelors, one in Economic Statistic and another in Accounting, Weiss Frost never saw herself working in a small slightly dingy diner a day in her life. But yet here she was nearly six years into being a waitress for the small mom and pop diner called 'Daniels'.
The Daniels, Jack and Joanna were an elderly couple nearing their sixties and in her opinion were the perfect example of a loving couple that had found their soul mates. Jack was a gruff old man that like the play the stern no nonsense straight man while in reality he was probably the biggest teddy bear Weiss had ever met. He had been a cook in the last war and had always had a dream of owning his own store serving the best food he could cook to happy customer. When he had been discharged he had done just that taking all his knowledge and skill to make this small restaurant into something unique. Joanna, his wife of nearly forty years was everyone's mother. It didn't matter to her if you weren't her child or not the moment she met and got to know someone she was always there to take care of them and give them all the affection she had. She had worked as an army nurse during the war which was where the two had met being stationed in the same MASH unit. From the stories she told Jack had declared his love for her the moment they met and tried to convince her to marry him nearly everyday, as she told it she turned him down every time but eventually he wore her down and she said yes. Though if someone really pressed her on it she would secretly admit that she was just as smitten with him when they met but just couldn't bring herself to admit it. The elderly couple had been Weiss' saving grace when she had graduated from college and no one was willing to hire her and it was something she was eternally grateful for.
If someone were to look at Weiss' pedigree they'd wonder why someone of her skill, intelligence and talent for business was working for a small diner that paid just above minimum wage. And Weiss herself would just blow off the question and play it like she wasn't interested in finding a job in that field right now rather to prefer to stretch her legs and relax for some time. But that was just to keep herself from exploding in a rage. In reality Weiss, no matter how much she loved the elderly couple, she didn't want to be working here. She didn't want to be living paycheck to paycheck. She didn't want to live in a studio apartment only a couple of blocks from the seedier part of Vale. She didn't want to have to waste her talent as a business mogul in a diner. But for all that she didn't want this life, she wouldn't change it because of one simple fact; she was free.
Weiss Frost was her own person and if she hadn't fought, hadn't thrown her past away, hadn't stood up for herself and what she believed in, for what she was, she wouldn't have been. Seven years ago Weiss had gone from Heiress of one of the worlds most influential company to a nobody, with no name, very little money and most importantly no one to try to control her. Seven years ago her father had tried to force her to marry a man she didn't love, a man she didn't know, a man that was offering to buy into her father's company, a man that was nearly thirty years her senior. On her seventeenth birthday he had announced that on her eighteenth birthday she would be marrying the man and that would be it. But Weiss fought back.
She would not be marrying a man she didn't want anything to do with, she didn't want her life dictated and controlled. She didn't want to become a trophy wife like her mother had been, she didn't want her ambitions to be squashed so she fought back. She did everything she could think of that would force her father to reconsider; blackmailing board member, bribing others to block the buy in, she even contemplated hiring someone to just off the man. It wasn't until she threatened to go to the media and government officials with damning evidence of her father's shady dealings and cuts to regulations that the man finally backed down. He had agreed with great reluctance that she would not marry the man but if for this she would be thrown from the family. Weiss accepted. With a single action Heiress Weiss Schnee had been thrown from her family and become Weiss Frost; a nobody.
At first Weiss had thought she had won. She had freed herself from her tyrannical father, she had freed herself from her social obligations giving her a chance to achieve her dreams and make a name for herself. But then she realized something was wrong when she went to accept a full ride scholarship from a prestigious college. They had told her the scholarship had gone to another student, and that if she wanted to attend, she needed to pay full price. A price she couldn't afford with the small account her father had allowed her to keep. So she had turned to trying to find a job, only to be turned down everywhere even in places where she had known the owners for years. It hadn't taken her long to figure out that her father had black balled her. He had threatened and coerced the college and the people she went to to get a job to prevent her from reaching her dream.
So in order to keep her dream alive Weiss had left Atlas, left Solitas to come to the center continent of Sanus and the city of Vale. It had taken a good portion of the money she had in her account to do so but she had been accepted into Beacon on a very good scholarship, not a full ride but it had paid a good portion, found a job in this diner to give her an income, to keep her expenses low she had lived on campus in cramped dorms, barely gone out, and scraped by. And when she had graduated, she had thought that she'd finally be able to get a job in her field, work her way up the corporate ladder until she could afford to start her own business and finally achieve her dream of crushing her father. But to her dismay and deep seated hatred she found her father's reach and reached Sanus. In the middle of her last interview the person had said she would be a great asset only to receive a memo before he could agree to hire her, after that he had told her he was sorry but the position was filled and that it would be best if she leaved.
Weiss Frost hated her father, she hated that he could force her to this level, force her to keep her dream locked away or risk him quashing them, she hated that he could still control her even when she was no longer his daughter. But she knew if she gave up he would win, so she continued on, she would continue to work this job, saving where she could, planning her next move, she would not let him win no matter what.
"Sorry for the wait." Weiss said with a cherry smile as she reached the table. It was early so the diner wasn't really that full but the customers that were there were ones Weiss recognized, this pair however Weiss didn't really know. One was a busty blonde with long almost windblown hair looking hair, she wore a brown leather jacket over a bright yellow top and a pair of black jeans. The other person at the table was another woman. The second woman had short cut hair that was two toned, at the roots her hair was jet black but out toward the tips it turned into a deep crimson the change was subtle enough that if a person wasn't close they'd never notice. She wore a black leather jacket with silver piping along the edges, a red shirt with black roses imprinted on it and black jeans that hugged her legs. Weiss blinked and fought back the blush that crept up her neck.
While the first woman was not really her type, she could just tell by looking at the easy grin, mischievous fire in her lilac and relaxed posture that the blonde was loud and probably way to carefree for her taste, the woman with the crimson hair was. Her silver eyes even if relaxed were sharp and alert, her posture not while stiff was upright and strong.
"No problem cutie." The blonde smiled up at her making Weiss' force her smile to stay in place. "We're in no hurry."
"You're in no hurry." The crimson haired woman huffed back, "I'm going to be late for my meeting if you keep me out here any longer. And stop flirting with the staff, I don't think your girlfriends would like that." A small smirk formed on her lips, making Weiss' eyes lock onto them. They had a soft pink shine to them and as Weiss poured their drinks she idly wondered what they tasted like, probably strawberry if she had to guess.
The blonde groaned and narrowed her eyes at her companion, "First Qrow told us to take the day, and frankly you could use a few days off. You're gonna burn yourself out if you keep going like this Rubes. We're worried about you." Weiss glanced up at the crimson haired woman's eyes noticing the black circles poorly concealed under the shining silver.
"I'm fin-" The woman started only to be interrupted by the blonde nearly growling over her.
"You are not fine Ruby. You're not sleeping, you barely eat and if it's not for work or training you barely leave your room." The blonde snarled making Weiss take a step back in surprise. The blonde had gone from easy going slacker to angry lioness and she swore she saw the blonde's eyes flicker just briefly to a fiery red. "Even Raven commented on it and you know if it's gotten her attention even she's worried." The redhead just sighed and slumped back into her booth, the blonde kept her eyes narrowed for a few seconds before turning her attention back to Weiss. "Sorry about that, sisterly disagreement." The blonde chuckled.
"No problem." Weiss smiled back reassuringly, she remembered times when she and her sister got into similar spats before she had disappeared. "You ready to order?" The blonde nodded and quickly ordered for the two of them glaring at the crimson haired woman when she went to protest. It was easy to tell which on was the older sister. Taking the pairs order back to the kitchen Weiss saw Joanna, who was helping her husband cook this morning, approach her.
"Everything alright Rogue?" The elderly lady asked. Rogue was the affectionate nickname Joanna had given Weiss after she had told the older woman her story. She said that she was a Rogue Princess; she didn't play by the rules set before her and needed no one to save her.
Weiss nodded. "All good, just a sisterly disagreement between customers at table ten." Joanna nodded as she looked out through the service window towards the table.
"Oh my." She gasped.
"What?" Wiess looked over at the woman in alarm. She didn't want any harm to come to the old woman and if she could fix something she would.
Joanna nodded towards the pair she had just left. "I haven't seen those two in years." The older woman's gaze seemed to peer into the past as she kept looking at the two women.
"You know them?" Weiss asked in confusion, she had never seen the pair in here in the six years she worked as a waitress here. And if she had she knew she'd at least remember the woman with crimson locks.
"Not them personally but their parents." Joanna replied, "The blonde is Yang Xiao Long and the redhead is Ruby Rose." She smiled fondly at them. "Yang is the daughter of Taiyang and Raven while Ruby's mother was Summer."
"Wait they said they were sisters." Weiss looked back at the pair confused.
"Sisters in the fact that they grew up together," Joanna clarified. "Taiyang, Raven and Summer were all best friends when they were younger and when Yang was born the three raised her together until Ruby came along. It was speculated that Tai was Ruby's father but Summer and Tai were both adamite that he wasn't but Summer never did say who her father was. She just said it was a single night when she needed someone and that was that."
"Wait you said she 'was' her mother. What happened?" Weiss knew that it was rude to gossip about customers but something about the silver eyed woman captivated her and made her want to know more about her.
"Nearly twelve years ago when the poor dear was ten Summer was killed in an accident." Joanna said sadly. "That's when they stopped coming here too. So I'm surprised to see them back. I had thought they moved."
Before Weiss could reply Jack called out, "Order up." Letting her know that the couples order was ready.
Grabbing the two plates Wiess skillfully made her way to the table. "I'm telling you Ruby you need to go out, let your hair down and just cut loose." The crimson haired woman just grumbled under her breath, "Come out with me, Blake and Neo tonight. We'll go to a club, drink, tear up the dance floor and break a lot of hearts."
"Yes that's just what I want to go do Yang." Ruby snorted with a roll of her eyes, "Watch you and your girlfriends get shitfaced, seduce all men and half the women in a club with your dancing, and get called a tease and slut when you turn them down. Hard pass thank you."
"Hey," Yang protested, "We don't get shitfaced." Ruby raised an eyebrow, "Well Blake doesn't at least."
"Because she's too busy keeping you and Neo in check to drink that much." Ruby shook her head. "You remember what happened the last time I went out with you, hmm? You were busy hitting on every woman there and Neo was arguing with a coatrack, thinking she was winning because it couldn't sign back."
The blonde smirked, "That was a fun night, and you have to admit letting her watch that video back was totally worth it."
"She stabbed my phone." Came Ruby's deadpanned reply. "Literally stabbed my phone Yang, to the table."
"Yeah but the blush was worth it." Yang chuckled while Ruby just sighed.
Weiss cleared her throat getting their attention, though she was very curious about their conversation it would be rude to let their food get cold while she eavesdropped. "Here you are."
"Thanks." Yang smiled as she passed a plate to Ruby, "You know what Rubes, you need an unbiased opinion." The blonde turned to face Weiss, "Let's hear what you think cutie; my sister's burning herself out on work and has gotten into a funk that she needs to break or she's gonna hurt herself." Ruby tried to protest as Yang started to explain what was going on but the blonde just reached over and covered her mouth. "I say she needs to cut loose, relax and get laid. What do you think?"
Weiss' knew her eyes were wide by the end of the blonde's explanation. At first she had been irritated that the blonde had once again called her 'cutie' but as the blonde charged ahead and ended in asking her her opinion she couldn't help but feel like a deer in the headlights. "I, uh- That's, uh- That is- I don't…" Weiss stammered.
Finally Ruby was able to pull the blonde's hand away from her mouth and glared at her, "Yang! That is totally inappropriate you can't just ask a stranger something like that." She turned to look up at Weiss, her silver eyes flashing apologetically, "I'm so sorry, I swear we raised her better than this."
"It's…fine." Weiss forced a smile on to her face hoping her blush wasn't too bad. "Please enjoy your meal." As quickly as she could she retreated back to the kitchen. The moment the blonde had suggested that the crimson haired woman needed to get laid a very provocative image of herself in bed with the other woman embedded itself in her mind and it took everything she had to not lick her lips in arousal. Once she was back in the safety of the kitchen Weiss shook her head trying to dislodge the image only to fail horrible as her analytical mind conjured more and more images.
"Hey, Frost." Kia said as he walked up to her, a small frown on his face, "You okay?"
Weiss nodded, "Just fine."
Kia continued to frown before he nodded. "Okay then, Mayble's in her usual spot asking for you, and the Jefferson's are at table six." He said walking out back on to the floor to handle his customers. Steeling herself Weiss placed the smile back on her face and hoped her blush had receded as she went to take the orders of some of their regulars.
As her shift continued on Weiss stopped by the pair of younger women a few more times to check up on them and every time she left she had to retreat to the kitchen to let the blush recede. She wasn't sure what was worse, the snickering blonde or the apologetic looks from the redhead. After about a half hour Weiss noticed the redhead get up and give the blonde an affectionate hug before leaving giving her a small wave.
She watched as the woman left and stopped beside a slick black motorcycle with silver highlights before flicking on a pair of shades and pulling away. The blonde watched her go with a sad smile on her lips. Weiss wondered what the blonde was thinking as she shook her head causing her hair to flip about before getting up and heading to the till. With a sigh Weiss knew she had to go cash her out.
When the blonde reached her she smiled, "Sorry about the teasing there." She started, "But if I didn't focus Ruby on being annoyed at me she'd just stew in her thoughts."
"It's fine." Weiss said, she was slightly confused that the blonde would tried to make redhead annoyed at her but it wasn't her place to question it.
The blonde shook her head, "No it's not but I was running out of ideas. She's been down for a while and this morning didn't help."
"I'm sorry to hear that." Weiss said, she wanted to ask what had happened but again it wasn't her place.
"And as an apology and for being such a good sport about it please keep the change as a tip." Yang smiled as she handed over a hundred lien bill. Weiss looked at the blonde in shock, if she was being honest she was only expecting a lien or two as a tip from the duo seeing as their bill wasn't that much. But the tip the blonde was insisting she take was nearly 85 lien.
"I-I can't accept this." Weiss tried to protest but Yang just shook her head refusing to take any change back.
"And as a bonus here, take this." Yang smirked handing over a napkin with numbers on it. Weiss quickly noted it was a phone number.
A part of her was irritated at the blonde, and she couldn't help reply back, "I thought your sister said your girlfriends wouldn't like you hitting on the staff, or are you just that much of a player." A bit of ice crept into her words, if there was one thing Weiss despised as much as her father it was people who cheated on others, seeing as her father was also unfaithful it made sense.
The blonde held up her hands in surrender, "Yeah they wouldn't and for the record that's not my number; it's Ruby's." Weiss felt her eyes widen as the blonde just smirked, "Don't think I didn't see you eyeing my baby sis." The blonde looked around before leaning forward and whispered, "And off the record, she was checking you out too."
Weiss was too stunned to reply as the blonde gave her a quick salute and left with a chuckle. She watched as the blonde walked up to another motorcycle, this one black and yellow, though she noticed a few pink highlights here and there before pulling away.
"Frost, order up." A voice broke her from her stupor making her shake her head. Making her way back into the kitchen Weiss glanced down at the napkin and noticed some writing she had missed when the blonde handed it to her. Looking at the slightly loopy scrawl Weiss blushed to the tips of her ears as she read 'She really likes your butt'.
A/N: Welcome, welcome worthy friends! Welcome to the first part of a new project I've been working on for a while on and off now for some time when I get stuck on Season of the Witch, which is happening a lot to be honest. Anyway, you may have noticed that this shares the title of one of my working titles for future projects I posted a while ago (I deleted the post because I settled on Godhunter first, if you want to see Familiar Trouble sorry but you're gonna have to wait a bit). I'm not gonna lie I'm flying blind with this series and it may be an update a month kind of thing unless I really get into the swing of it. I will try and keep things at least some what believable but honestly if I can't come up with an explanation for something it may just come down to 'Unknown Space Magic' as an explanation. If you're not okay with that and can come up with something better then feel free to do so. I'm not sure if it came across already but this is gonna be a bloody fic, people are gonna die and it's gonna be gruesome at points, will I kill the cast? A few, yes. Will there be sex? If I get comfortable with writing it cause honestly I don't think I'm very good at it. Will we get to see a different view of Weiss and Ruby? I sure hope so.
And with that said buckle up people and let's ride.
PS: Thanks all for stopping by, I hope that everyone is safe and continues to stay so, and please even in these unknown and seemingly unknown times please remember; In the darkest of time, the light shines brightest.
