Author's Notes; So, I recently came across an old file of mine for a Mother 3 retelling, after a bit of editing a revising, alongside some tweaking here and there, I decided I'd post chapter 1 of the story.
Bare in mind, these chapter for the prolouge events will most likely be shorter than the actual Needle parts, for now, expect maybe monthly uploads on this story.
Either way, enjoy this novelization of the most beautiful videogame to ever grace planet Earth.
Chapter 1: Dragos Playtime.
Nowhere islands, a beautiful peaceful place, one where people and animals lived in harmony, with no sadness, anger, or greed, everyone could just be happy and cheerful all the time.
Truly, he lived in a great place, though he could be quite shy and reserved, he enjoyed living on Nowhere islands with his family.
"Lucas? Lucas, wake up!"
"Hmm? Five more...five more minutes mom."
"LUCAS!"
The blonde haired boy jolted awake, he rubbed his eyes cautiously, trying to recover from the dream he was having. When his vision returned to him, he saw his identical twin brother with orange hair, Claus standing over top of him, fully dressed and ready.
"Come on sleepyhead, get up." Claus said poking at his chest. "The Dragos brought their babies for us to play with! Grandpa Alec is taking me over there now! Come on, get up!"
"Okay...okay…" Lucas said quietly, "I'm getting up."
"Good, I'll see you down there!" Claus hopped off the bed and dashed downstairs.
Lucas shook his head to himself, his brother was much more eager and energetic than he was, it didn't bother him at all, but, there were just sometimes he wished he could be as brave and risky as Claus was. He definitely took more after their father Flint.
He got up out of bed and pulled a yellow and red striped shirt and blue cargo shorts on, brushed his large head of blond hair, and, still yawning, walked downstairs to see his mother, Hinawa was a young woman with darkish skin and cherry lips, she wore a red dress with a white apron over it, her long brown hair was neatly combed down the center of her waist.
"Good morning sleepyhead." his mother said to him. "It's nice to see that you already got yourself dressed, you better hurry up and head outside to see the baby Dragos before we head home tonight. Here, I made some nut bread for you to eat as a snack." she handed him a loaf of bread with small nuts in the fluff of it.
Lucas nodded, gave his mother a hug, and took the Nut Bread, eating it as he walked outside, his grandfather Alec lived alone towards the northern part of the island, preferring to live away from the bustling small town of Tazamily and instead be around nature. There were pigs and cows on his little ranch that he enjoyed tending to on his visits. He looked up at the clear sky, for a brief moment, he could've sworn he saw some strange object in the sky. But he blinked and the object was gone.
Lucas shook his head to himself as he walked down towards the Dragos Valley, when he got there, he found his brother standing in front of a giant dinosaur, maybe 30 feet tall! But that didn't matter, Dragos were very kind and gentle creatures as long as their youth weren't in any danger. A smaller, lighter green dragos about his size was watching Claus and it's mother eagerly.
His grandfather Alec, an older man with a brown fedora and glasses, wearing a brown vest over his green shirt and light pants walked over to him.
"Hey Lucas," he said. "You made it, Claus here has been pretending to fight with the Dragos mother here. Why don't you join?"
"No...No thanks…" Lucas said shyly, despite the friendliness of the creatures, their massive size still intimidated him. His grandfather had spent enough time with the creatures to develop a pet-like relationship, the Dragos in their youth could do all sorts of tricks. Pretend fighting was simply charging into the massive creature and having it play dead.
"Come on Lucas." Claus said, running up to him and grabbing his hand. "It's fun, all you gotta do is dash into the Dragos, and she'll lay dead. It's simple, no way you can get hurt doing this!"
"I-I don't really…"
"Come on Lucas...please!" Claus begged. "Come on!"
"Oh...alright then." Lucas sighed. He stood in front of the giant Dragos, who stared down at him, he backed up nervously.
"I-I...I can't do it!" he cried.
"Lucas...be calm." Alec said, patting him on the back. "The Dragos won't hurt you. Everything will be fine. Remember, all you gotta do is bump into it."
Lucas nodded nervously, placed himself readied on the ground, then, charged at the Dragos. He bumped into the creature and looked up. The giant dinosaur let off a screech and then gracefully fell to the ground.
"Great job Lucas!" Claus cheered. "You're really good at pretending to fight!"
Lucas smiled. That was what he loved about his brother, always there to offer support and encouragement, never allowing him to feel discouraged at anything.
Suddenly a small brown crab-like creature called a mole cricket scurried up to them.
"I heard you were doing some fighting!" it said. "Nobody is better at fighting than us mole crickets! Come on, show me ya moves boy!"
"Wait but I don't want to-" The mole cricket scurried up to Lucas and pinched him in the knee with one of its claws, it didn't hurt at all, in fact, if the cricket had done it outright without notifying him on its existence, he probably wouldn't have known it was on him.
Lucas wigged his foot and little, kicking the small creature off of him, it fell to the ground with a plop as stars were visible in its tiny eyes. It hopped back up.
"Owowowow!" the cricket creaked. "Nobody has ever bested a mole cricket before! I must report to the chief so we can make do with a new strategy!" the cricket then scurried off.
"See Lucas! You're a naturally born fighter!" Claus said.
"Boys, I think your mother is just about done with lunch, I think she said she was making donuts!"
"OH BOY DONUTS!" Claus cheered. "I want some, I want some, I want some!" before Lucas even blinked, Claus dashed off back towards the house.
"Better hurry back up there Lucas." Alec said. "Wouldn't want Claus to eat all your favorite food."
Lucas smiled at his grandfather as he walked him back to the house. Once again, he caught sight of the mysterious object again, but it disappeared behind some clouds and never came back down.
"I've really enjoyed spending the last two days with you Lucas." Alec said, patting him on the back. "It's a shame your father couldn't come, but, someone's gotta tend to those animals. I'm gonna be really sad to watch you all leave tonight, but, it is what we gotta do."
Lucas nodded, to him, nothing was more important than family and love, his mother and father's kindness and compassion and his brother's helpfulness had helped him grow slowly out of his shy shell as a kid. Everything truly was perfect with his life.
Little did he know however, that this would be the last night he'd ever spend with his mother and brother.
That's all for the chapter, the opening scene really isn't that long, which is probably why this will be the shortest chapter, either way, stay tuned for the rest of the series to come.
