I was finishing up my routine check up in the hospital. It wasn't long before I saw the two exorcists arrive from Mater.

The dark haired one looked pretty bad off.

He was quiet, deep in sleep after his mission.

His white haired comrade was nowhere to be found.

I learned from one of the other patients that his name was Yu Kanda.

Careful not to wake him, I sat down next to him and put a hand on his wound.

"No need to use what's left of your life." I whispered. "Your journey is a long, lonely one."

Silver light flowed from my fingers into his wound and healed him. As he began to stir, I moved slowly to the door.

As Kanda awoke, he saw the young priestess leaving.

She stood at the door and regarded him with a long, piercing look.

"Why did you use your skill on me, Priestess?" Kanda asked finally.

The woman gave him a small smile. "I have a name. It's Kuri Hikawa. And you are Yu Kanda."

"H-How did you..."

Kuri smiled again. "Another patient told me."

"Che. Answer my question. From before."

Kuri put a finger to her lips.

"Ever girl needs her secrets, Yu."

And then she was gone.

The exchange had been brief, but Kanda spoke to few women. And this one, with her mysterious deep blue eyes and the sparkly freckles on her cheeks (she called them 'spreckles'), had affected him in a way he though he could not feel anymore.

He wanted to see her again.

He did not want to see her again.

Confused, Kanda fell asleep, the spreckled girl dancing into his dreams.
