The True Catwoman Of Gotham Prologue
Once there was a girl who was invisible. Ignored by most no one could see her. And no one could hear her. She wasn't a ghost. Her invisibility was simply a fact she had to live with.
That girl is Victoria.
Victoria Jederman to be exact.
Victoria was born into a regular normal everyday family. Her older sister was the pretty one. Her little brother was the smart one. Dad was generally clueless. And she was the middle child which can be very irritable at times. Luckily there was Mom. Mom was interested in everything. To her the world was full of wonder and mystery. A puzzle to be solved. Victoria learned a great deal from this remarkable woman. To her Victoria could never be invisible. She made everything bearable. All in all they lived a pretty good life.
Until that faithful night when everything changed.
One Friday night when the family was on its way home from having dinner at the chosen restaurant at that week tragedy struck.
A driver too wasted to even pay any attention to where he was going ran a red light straight into their car.
There was only one survivor that made it out from the crash.
Doctors say it was a miracle that Victoria even lived long enough for paramedics to arrive on the scene. Victoria's mother was alive too, but she passed on a few minutes after the ambulance got there. The woman begged with them to save her daughter. Those were the final words she ever spoke.
That heartfelt plea is what probably saved Victoria's life in the long run. Much to everyone's astonishment Victoria made a full recovery.
A lot of good that it really did for Victoria. Oh yeah, none.
Victoria is now an orphan alone with no other family to speak of. Both sets of grandparents were no longer in the picture and neither of her parents had any siblings that could take her in. So Victoria was placed in an orphanage.
Here where so many children can be overlooked, forgotten, and without those she cared about to act as an anchor Victoria began to fade. The invisibility Victoria felt like she had with certain members of her family spread to other areas of her life in Gotham City.
It started at the orphanage. People barely paid attention to her as it was, but because of his despondent and inactive Victoria became it turned much worse to the point where no one acknowledged her except for dispensing necessities. And then at school where only her teachers barely seemed to notice her because of how quiet she became. Here the people grew concerned and tried to help her by giving counseling and getting her to talk more.
But nothing they were doing really helped. Victoria wasn't talking because of the trauma. It's just that she didn't really have anything left to say. She didn't see the point.
Instead of speech Victoria sought to make herself known not vocally but with dance in all forms. Dance is the one good thing Victoria possesses from her old life that she's held onto.
Over the years her dedication to all the training and hard work she put into it paid off. By the time she's in high school Victoria is as graceful, strong, and passionate as the best of them on the stage. Through dance she will earn a living through selling her skills and not her body as some in spite told her that would be all she'd ever be good for and finds delight in proving them wrong. She can create another secret world. A place only of beauty and imagination, judged as a living, breathing, and moving work of art. For Victoria agony and beauty lives side by side. Her feet suffered, her fingers bled. Even sitting and sleeping became painful to bear. All these burdens she was proud to bear. Especially since she's grown enough to be able to stop a man in his tracks with a single glance. All the hard work paid off in spades. It got her noticed and against all odds she winds up with a prestigious full scholarship at Julliard in New York City.
That is by far the proudest moment of her life. Not since her families demise has she ever felt so light and happy. Not even the fact that she was never adopted mattered to her anymore.
What did…is that she's not invisible anymore.
In her mind Victoria now has her life all figured out. All things considered she'll have a pretty good life now. By the time she turns 18 she won't just be tossed out into the world with nothing to support herself with thanks to the scholarship. She'd have her own place in a single room in the girl's dorms on campus. Nobody knows anybody there so she'll fit right it. Also, she'll find a job while under Julliard's protection.
A fresh start. That's all Victoria needs.
But this is all ruined by the selfish and greedy acts of one person.
Dr. Emile Dorian.
Once a renowned geneticist, but now a pariah in regards to his work after concocting the dangerous T-99 mutagen Dr. Emile Dorian exiled himself on an uninhabited island to continue his life's work and experiments.
So far the good doctor has still just merely been testing on animals or creating a subject from scratch. Yet now he wants to widen his horizons and actually move on to an actual human specimen.
What better choice than someone who won't be missed when they're gone?
Victoria was snatched, drugged, and transported to the island one day in midevening when not that many people were roaming the city when she was getting some supplies she would need when she moves to New York City.
It all happened so fast she didn't know what hit her.
Alone, lost, scared, and confused Victoria wasn't given much time to understand what was going on before Dr. Emile Dorian injected her with a serum filled with DNA from an Egyptian mau feline.
The transformation took less than a day to take full affect.
Afterward when Dr. Emile Dorian permits her to look into a mirror Victoria is horrified, not even recognizing herself. Her body is replaced with a humanoid felines resembling an Egyptian mau's. Lithe and slender with pure white fur with the familiar spotted and stripped patterns from head to tail. Not only that, but just like her appearance the actual physical attributes have altered in her abilities adding on with all of a cats natural prowess. Agility and sight are just the tip of the iceberg with them.
In sheer desperation a horrified Victoria attempts an escape, but finds herself trapped on this isolated island. There's no way out for her leaving her crestfallen and without hope.
Everything is falling apart. There's no way off the island. Without a chance for escape Victoria knew with a heavy heart that the life she'd worked so hard to build for herself is now gone out of her reach forever.
The scholarship she'd obtained from Julliard would be handed off to the next available applicant who showed potential as she had, her spot handed off to someone else. That was her one chance for freedom and independence and now it's gone just like that. And even if she somehow did make it off no university would ever accept her now. Not since Dr. Emile Dorian injected her with the last dosage of his serum that makes this transformation permanent. She's stuck this way now for better or worse for the rest of her life no matter what. All her dreams and aspirations for the future are for not and useless now.
Resigned to her fate Victoria never wanted to accept it, but just like with what happened after the accident she had disappeared from sight and from memory. It was like she had never existed.
Gone is Victoria Jederman.
In her place is Bastet.
Authors Note:
Hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D
I recently came up with this idea after watching the new Cats 2019 musical movie. I know some people have been really negative about it, personally, I like this movie. Prefer it over the play, but that's just me. The final piece to the puzzle was the episode Tyger, Tyger from Batman The Animated Series. All uphill from there.
What relationships do you think she should have romantic wise with characters from the show? I have a couple of ideas, but would like to know your opinions. You already are aware how much I respect them.
Right now during this epidemic with the coronavirus that's impacting every nation in the entire world we really do need find whatever sources we possibly can in order to lighten our spirits. Especially those who are unfortunately stuck sick or those locked in self isolation in order to prevent both contraction and spread of the illness. For those of us who have the abilities to do this we have a duty to keep up morale and that's exactly what I wholeheartedly desire these new stories and updates concocted during this time do for you.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm very satisfied and happy about it.
I recently put up some other works I've put out at titled Secret Of Bristol Cove, Predators Redemption, A Revolutionary Romance, Fantine Tezla: Hot Wheels Acceleracers, Green Lantern Odette Dupree: First Flight, Magic And the Brave Little Toaster 1, Lavinia: Princess Of Edelweiss, Rorschach's Legend, Watchmen Meets Avengers: The Newest Defender, The 8th Loser, Naomi Poldark: Mistress Of Nampara, Serenity: End Guardian To The Moors, Dido Cruger: Power Rangers SPD, and Nuala: The White Lioness. I highly recommend them. ;D
By the way Rorschach's Legend. Mandalorian: The 2nd Foundling, Eira Byrnison, and Watchmen Meets Avengers: The Newest Defender are some of the best newest additions to my profile. If you're a fan of the Golden Compass and Watchmen which are the new series on HBO then you will love these. Then if you haven't saw them yet then I recommend that you check it out. Since there are still just recently uploaded I really would enjoy hearing other peoples thoughts on the subject matter so far. So feel free to do so if you have the time.
I have other grand news! I was a patron at New York Comic Con 2019! Ah! I'd been dying to go for years and now I had the opportunity. The Jokers from Impractical Jokers have been here along with Tom Hiddleston and so many others. Over those few days I actually got my picture taken with a couple of other actors/actresses and some really great panels. It really is so exciting there. This is an opportunity of a lifetime so there's no way in hell that I was going to waste a single second of it. No one ever should with something like this. Ever! ;D
For future preferences I highly recommend that you all keep an eye out for when tickets for New York Comic Con are available for purchase again for next year. This is a huge event and you should jump on it whenever you have the chance. Unfortunately this year it appears like Comic Con might be skipped not just in New York, but also in all it's regular places during the course of scheduled events. I think we all know the reason for it is plain as day.
The coronavirus.
Can't exactly blame with how dreadful things are getting in escalation and the fact that places like the Javits Center in New York have been temporarily converted into makeshift hospitals in order to deal with the overflow of people contracting infections from this rapidly spreading virus that might as well be called a plague at this point. Let's keep fingers crossed that an aim is to have this pass us before then so things can get back on track. If it is then New York Comic Con might be exactly what people need in order to lighten their spirits after all this darkness. Stay safe everyone and long to eventually see you there.
