"Kentin?"
"Ya?"
"I miss you"
he smiled
"I miss you too, more than you would know"
"When will you come back?"
Kentin looked over his shoulder to make sure none of the guys were overhearing.
"Boot Camp doesn't end until the end of this Summer, but God I miss you."
He sighed into the phone and bent over in his chair putting his head in his hands.
"I'm getting more irked at my dad for bringing me here, I can't see you, hold you, nor talk to you face to face! Im starting to really get pi-"
"Ken..."
he froze.
"...you really have changed" Lily's voice was only whisper.
he gulped
"is that ...good?"
there was a moment of silence.
" Only if you think it is….I like you any way you will ever change."
He smiled, "how are you doing? y-your head is it-?"
Lilly wanted to cry, she felt so alone again. When she had first met Kentin he was the scrawny kid with the big glasses, who was direct and persistent to stay with her.
He wasn't afraid to show his feelings...unlike first i would just glare and try to shoo him away but do you know what he thought?
"Do you remember the first time we met?"
Kentins heart leaped a little gave a light-hearted laugh.
"ha ha ya, god you're a sight to see,"
Lilly's cheeks darkened
"I literally thought an angel had broken her wings and couldn't get back up to heaven."
His burned dark pink remembering intimate moments he had later on through the years.
He noticed that she had ignored his question.
"Im not an angel.."
he snickered
"whatever floats your boat honey"
Lilly huffed in annoyance.
"well…" kentin started off again.
"..I was right about the broken wings though"
Lily's eyes shut, knowing how true that was.
"I feel so lucky that I found my little angel, but..also sad.." Kentins heart squeezed a little
"I found my angel so broken...but at least I get to heal you up."
Lilly wanted his arms around her at this very moment, she felt so weak, so tired, so drained.
But she knew this call was important.
"You mended my wings, but I just can't fly yet, Ken" A small sad smile graced her lips.
"Well, then I guess I have to try harder then,"
A tear dropped on white bedsheets, as a frail girl bowed her head, curls covering her face.
Kentin took a deep breath
" I promise Lilly this is the last time I'll ever be away from you! no more boot camp, no more summers alone apart, when I get bac-"
your phone has been disconnected, please call again later
Lilly couldn't take it anymore, she unplugged the wired phone, and let her weeps to be heard in the white and empty hospital room.
That day Kentin trained much harder, pushing himself to become stronger to be able to protect Lilly from the harsh world.
Time passed and Kentin got to return home to see his beautiful angel….but she was pale…. dressed in pink…folded hands on her stomach …..laying down….with not even a breath to take.
Kentin Kept his promise…...but that didn't mean Lilly made a promise to stay.
He was right about his Lilly she was and is an angel.
And he was the ones that mended her wings.
He smiled sadly, heartbreaking.
At least he was able to give her her wings back, so she could take off less broken.
He was wrong when he thought.
She was an angel who was stuck on Earth.
He had trained hard to protect her from the world but...he hadn't trained harder to protect her from her self.
He kept a promise…..unlike Lilly.
