So apparently Lego Mario is a thing. Hmm...
Cue drabble.
Building Blocks
The Time of Destruction has come again.
He who towers over the inhabitants of Bricksburg. He, who wears the colour of blood, and who bears the cap of M, to symbolize his crimes of murder. To wear it as a bade of honour. He, who is the Destroyer of Worlds, the Slayer of Koopas. The Jumpman. The one who brings death and destruction with naught but a smile.
He runs across the land, ever in one direction, as for the Jumpman, the world is two-dimensional, with no room The inhabitants of Bricksburg flee for their lives, not wishing to be trampled under the feet of the giant. They watch in horror as the Destroyer smashes every block he can by jumping up to it, smashing it with his head. No harm to the Jumpman, complete and utter destruction to the people of Bricksburg. Most of their blocks are destroyed in but a single hit. Others take long, as the Slayer of Koopas jumps into the block again, and again, and again. With each jump, a coin - blood money, as the people call it. The Jumpman is said to own entire islands, nay worlds, where his ill-begotten gains allow him to finance everything from parties, to kart-racing, to everything in-between (including purchasing a fake licence from medical school). It is blood money, but the inhabitants of the Mushroom Kingdom care not about it. The people of Bricksburg, of all the Realms of Lego, are beneath their notice, as well as their boots.
The block finally shatters, and the Jumpman continues his rampage. A rampage that is made worse as a mushroom comes out from one of the blocks. The Jumpman consumes it, and the people look on in terror, as the Jumpman doubles in height. To them, he was already a giant, but now, he is a colossus. He is faster. Stronger. His breath smells funny, and his clothing is awfully stretched since the sudden gain in size. But to the people of Bricksburg, the distinction matters little. The Destroyer, the Murderer, the Jumpman...he'll keep destroying their blocks, and taking their coins, and shrug off any attempt of theirs to stop him. Once, they tried green shells, only for them to be sent right back at them, smashing their bricks further. Red shells likewise failed. Some even suggested using blue shells, but even they understand the horror of that weapon. But seeing their bricks, their homes, their lives destroyed by the Jumpman...
Some whisper. Some indulge in heresy. Some consider the unthinkable, for now, what have they left to lose? Especially now, after the Jumpman has consumed a fire flower, and has the forces of nature at his fingertips. Especially now, as he casually incinerates Bricksburg, not even bothering to smash his head for coins. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
He's nearly at the end now. Bricksburg lies in ruins, and the Jumpman has not been slowed. Indeed, having collected well over a hundred coins, he's more powerful than ever. He reaches the final fortress. Their castle. Bricks of all colours, of all creeds, standing defiant against the Jumpman. Brave warriors all, from Nexo Knights to ninjas (and even long discontinued sets), man the walls, even as the Jumpman raises the flag outside their gates. He lingers, before reaching down and ripping the roof off their castle. People cry. People scream. Knights throw their spears, ninjas throw their shurikens, and long discontinued miners throw their...stuff, at him, but it comes to naught. The Jumpman takes what he wants, and woe betide any who get in his way. Even the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom has long had her heart denied, as the Jumpman brings him back to his lair every time she seeks new love. And the less said about certain apes and cages, the better.
It's over before it even starts. Those few survivours look at the Jumpman as he walks off, apparently content. Perhaps he found what he was after. Perhaps his princess is in another castle. But in a way, it matters not. Bricksburg can be rebuilt. It will take time, it will take effort, but it can return to its former glory...or at least it can, before the Jumpman comes round again. For of all the Realms of Lego, this is only World 1-1. And the Jumpman will come back. He always comes back. And as always, he leaves his parting words. To make the people remember. To deny them blissful sleep. To fill their waking moments with nightmare, and their dreams with tears.
"Here we go!"
And thus, the cycle continues. Building, destruction, rebuilding.
And already, they can hear the screams from World 1-2.
