This was meant to be longer than it is whoops

"Kyo!" Tohru called from the bathroom. The man raised an eyebrow in confusion as he put down the spoon from the soup he was making that early morning for his wife's breakfast.

Tohru hadn't been feeling well lately, so he'd offered to make the leek soup she'd somehow come to love and she insisted always made her feel better, even when she had the flu instead of a cold, which seemed the case now, considering the vomiting she'd been doing the past several days.

He shut off the stove and quickly strode to their bathroom to check on her.

"Tohru, Honey? What's up?"

Tohru had an absolutely glowing air about her and a bright grin as she looked at an item in her hand. With shaking hands, she held it up for him to see.

It was a pregnancy test.

And it was positive.

oOo

Kyo had been overjoyed, taking Tohru in his arms and spinning as they laughed together in giddiness before he'd finished serving her soup and then kissed her and left for work at the dojo, per her insistence.

But as always, it didn't take long for him to start over thinking things.

They were both so young still! They didn't know anything about taking care of a baby! Neither of them had ever had younger siblings, and although Tohru had spent a lot of time with children, he'd hardly spent any! What do kids like? What do babies need?

And that wasn't even the half of it. Could he really raise a child properly? He could never be as good of a father as Shishou had been for him! What if he was really bad at it!? What if he completely messed his kid up!? What if he managed to give his kid as many problems as his own biological father had given him!?

He'd been completely distracted trying to teach the students, and Kunimitsu had noticed.

"Kyo, what's going on?" Kunimitsu had asked the obviously worried teacher when he had the chance.

"Huh? Nothing's going on, I'm fine!" Kyo replied, flustered.

Kunimitsu gave him a pointed look. "You've hardly been able to do anything all morning. The last time you were this bad was back in high school, when you were agonizing over the fact you were in love with Tohru. So what's going on? Something with Tohru again?"

Kyo looked away. "We're… I'm…" he groaned and fell back against the floor, looking up at the ceiling. "She's pregnant."

"Wow, that's great!" Kunimitsu responded. "Congratulations! A kid!"

"I…" Kyo smiled at Kunimitsu's excitement for him. "Thanks."

"So then what's the matter?"

"Well, I'm happy, that we're starting a family, obviously, but I don't know how to be a parent!"

Kunimitsu laughed. "You think anyone does? You figure it out as you go along!"

"Don't laugh!" Kyo blushed in embarrassment. "And I don't know anything about kids! How am I supposed to raise one!?"

"Whad'ya mean, you don't know anything about kids? You work with kids here all the time! You're the youngest class's favorite teacher, even!"

Kyo gawked at him. "Really?"

Kunimitsu laughed again. "You didn't know? Every time I teach them, they're all 'where's Kyo-sensei! We want Kyo-sensei to teach!'"

Kyo couldn't help but laugh at his friend's terrible impression of a child's voice.

"What have you told Tohru?" Kunimitsu asked.

"I didn't start thinking like this until after I left the house."

"Well, I'd say you should stop freaking out and just talk to Tohru about it. I'm sure she has much better advice than your bachelor dojo buddy."

Kyo chuckled as he sat up. "Yeah, I guess you're right."

Kunimitsu groaned as he stood up and stretched. "Now come on, you have another class starting soon."

Also when I conceived this, it was going to be Yuki instead of Kunimitsu but here we are
