A/N: Another Fairy Tail fan fiction!
Disclaimer: I don't own Fairy Tail.
Lucy sighs enviously; watching the couples blissfully dancing in the center of the royal palace's ballroom is a torture for her. She is in a banquet to celebrate the end of the war against Alvarez. They come to the royal capital every year and tonight is the fifth year of the annual celebration. She's been in this party since it started but unlike the rest of them, no one paid her any mind. Usually she doesn't care but tonight is an exception.
Lucy put all the stops to night. She's wearing a fitted haltered red dress just below the knees, brown high heeled sandals that matches her eyes, beaded chop sticks that twirled her blonde hair in place, and a light make-up for the occasion. All in all, she looks pretty. Not that anyone had noticed; and her fitted dress only made her breathing tight.
The celestial mage let-out another sigh, everyone has a partner and they all look happy. Gray and Juvia are glowing, Levy is arguing with Gajeel but they're together. Even Gellal and Erza are dancing without a care in the world.
While her, on the other hand, has no one. She only has these sweets for company. Lucy's about to get the cookie in front of her until a warm hand caught hers.
"Hey, can I have that Luce?"
Lucy's head snaps up and sees Natsu looking down at her. Or more specifically, at the cookie in her hand. This annoyed her so she put on a mighty scowl and pulled away.
"No Natsu! It's mine."
"But c'mon Luce, it's the last cookie. Besides, you've been eating it the whole night." The fire dragon slayer reasons with her.
Lucy blushes; she didn't know that he saw her. But if he saw her, why didn't he approach her sooner? It would have saved her the loneliness at least.
It's actually because of him she decided to dress up this evening. If Gray finally gave in to Juvia's advances, she thought that Natsu might notice her too. So Lucy took a chance but it didn't do her any good.
After exchanging pleasantries and congratulating the newly engage couple, Lucy found a seat to wait for Natsu. She stayed on that seat for the rest of the night; she thought that Natsu hasn't arrived yet. But he just told her now that he saw her earlier and he didn't even come to see her. Not even to say hi.
That thought dampen Lucy's mood so she snaps at Natsu instead. "Well, too bad!"
"But Luce." He wines, trying to grab the sweet from her.
Lucy lean back with the cookie in hand to avoid Natsu's grabby hands. She looks Natsu straight in the eyes and deliberately bites the cookie. She only got half of it because it's the largest piece. The last laugh still belongs to her and it serves him right.
Lucy is still thinking about her perceived victory over Natsu when the said fire mage suddenly looms over her. She can feel his strong arms on her back and his warm breath is fanning her now flushed face. He gazes straight into her eyes this time and promptly... Bite the remaining half of the cookie that's still hanging on her mouth.
His lips brush hers lightly when he did so and that freezes her from where she sits. Natsu leans back now and he gave her a mischievous smile. "Chocolate chip is good but I love Sinnamon better."
And just like that, he was gone. After a moment, Lucy blinks. She run her finger through her Sinnamon glossed lips and smiles. She didn't stop smiling for the rest of the evening.
