Six year-old Abby Sciuto returned home after a night of trick-or-treating as Lady Ada Lovelace, ate all of her candy, and went to sleep. And she had this dream...
It was a beautiful, starry night as Abby stepped out of the carriage. The moon was full and larger than normal, a true supermoon. A Gothic cathedral hundreds of feet tall loomed in front of her.
Also looming in front of her were dozens of stone steps. That was a lot of steps, but Abby was willing to walk up a trillion or more steps to enter the cathedral if needed. Tonight was her wedding night.
When she reached the top of the steps, the large doors to the cathedral opened out towards her. She stepped inside, and took her father's hand. Inside the well-lit cathedral, she looked down at her lovely gown. It was a gown that had long sleeves and a skirt that touched the floor. The entire fabric of the gown sparkled like a fresh layer of show, as did her veil and tiara.
The music began to play, and her journey down the aisle began. On her left, the pews were filled with well-dressed human guests, though none of the guests looked as handsome as her father did. On her right, the pews were occupied by Muppets. All of them. There was Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie, Scooter, Animal, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Beaker, Big Bird, Grover, Bert And Ernie, Baby Bear, Rosita, Sam The Eagle, and so many more.
And right up front at the altar was the groom.
The Muppet who was the love of her life.
Count Von Count.
She and her father reached the altar. The minister began with, "Dearly beloved..."
Abby did not look at the minister for most of his speech, instead focusing all her attention on her beloved.
"If anyone here has any just cause as to why these two should not be wed, please speak now or forever hold your peace."
There was silence. Great!
"Do you, Count Von Count, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, as long as you both shall live?"
"I do."
"And do you, Abigail Scuito, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband, for better or worse, for richer and poorer, as long as you both shall live?"
"I do." She would have vowed to love him for all eternity and beyond. She should have written her vows that way. They would have sounded more impressive. Oh, well.
"Do you have the rings?"
"Elmo does." Elmo held out the pillow holding their rings. The Count's ring was a simple circle of gold. Abby's ring was the same shape as The Count's ring, but smaller and adorned with a round diamond surrounded by eight rubies. It was like a flower made of jewels.
When they finished exchanging rings, the minister said, "By the power vested in me by the Corporation For Public Broadcasting and the staff, management, and viewers of this and all other public television stations nationwide, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Abby had to bow her head about a foot or so in order for them to kiss. The Count also had to rotate his head so that his nose would not get in the way. Their kiss was in no way natural. But for Abby and The Count, it was infinitely satisfying.
The End. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
