The Osgood that stays on Earth receives postcards here and there, drawings on one side of strange creatures or plants and notes on the other describing it or telling her more about it. Somewhat less occasionally there are holiday looking snaps, Osgood, Bill and Heather smiling ageless out of surroundings that seem so alien compared to Earth. On the back of these ones are the things Osgood would sentimentally say are more important, how they're doing or things they've tried which don't come with exactly the same degree of professionalism as her notes.
Though it is close- they have always been very professional people.
They come out of order occasionally, events not quite fitting together right until a few days later when another card comes and Osgood can fit it into her sister's alien timeline which covers half of the wall now.
Kate comes around sometimes. Earlier on she makes the excuse of coming to look at the wall and catch up on the other Osgood's findings. Although Kate may glance at it occasionally or pull new additions down and inspect the drawings it has now been made much more clear that her real intention is to spend time with Osgood outside of a work environment rather than try and make sense out of the research that she knows Osgood will already have filled in and filed the paperwork for.
Occasionally Kate will ask if Osgood regrets not going with her sister and in the quiet of her own apartment with Kate's arms around her, mismatched mugs on the table, her back against Kate's front and a blanket pulled over both of them she can't quite bring herself to say anything other than the only regret she has was not saying anything sooner so they could spend more time in peace like this between invasions and disasters and making cover stories for the inevitable leaks.
Things are similarly well for the other Osgood and her partners, not every minute being filled with being chased off a planet- though that does happen far, far more than once- and trying to avoid war- which is thankfully far less prevalent in the entirety of space and time than you would think. It's in the quiet in between moments in hotel rooms or lying on a relatively comfortable patch of ground and looking at completely foreign and yet seeming more normal every day skies or landscapes that Osgood writes to her sister, samples in front of her and a bottle of ink or stick of some kind of pigment from wherever they last stopped off at.
They fall into comfortable rhythms of moving from world to world, long enough to explore but not long enough to let it feel too boring.
Their favourite moments are the ones where they can just collapse together staring out at a new horizon and breathing, the weight of a hand or foot not unknown as they shuffle around to get comfortable, piled up against one another as if they were more plants than people.
One planet in particular that they remember fondly (though they probably couldn't find their way back to it intentionally again and perhaps wouldn't want to) was covered almost entirely in clear rock pools, motionless in their craters. Bill laughs, teasing Heather about family and how Heather became able to transfer them through space and time is finally explained to a more than curious Osgood who had never thought of it.
There's silence for a few moments afterwards and Osgood almost second-guesses herself but grins instead, nose wrinkling and opens her mouth to speak.
"It's funny that you're part puddle- it does explain why I'm always wet around you."
It's the first time either Bill or Osgood see Heather do more than blush slightly or not have an immediate comeback.
Bill too is bright red, choking slightly as she laughs and grabs at Osgood's arm.
"Me too!" She snickers as Heather and Osgood laugh too, Heather raising an eyebrow in a challenging way as she pulls herself back into control.
"Yes- it does have its benefits." She attempts though everyone is laughing too hard to really care about it.
It's a long time before they meet the Doctor again, far longer than any of them expected given how the Doctor kind of seemed to be everywhere before they'd started travelling.
It's a small planet- a camping planet really- human-colonised originally but now a spot for the more wealthy people in the universe to experience the past of Earth through the eyes of some humans with very rose tinted, period inaccurate glasses.
Bill, Heather and Osgood had been there for a few days already, pointing out inconsistencies and generally enjoying the rather peaceful environment. They'd brought a tent (well Heather had somehow made one) and found on the fourth day as they were going to get rid of it and head off a somewhat obnoxious one beside it, bright primary colours and from the looks of it actually from Earth as opposed to the small pods which more legitimate visitors to the planets paid for.
While they'd stood, trying to figure out what it might be doing there they'd been surprised by being jumped at from behind.
Or rather- Bill was jumped at and surprised whereas Heather and Osgood were merely surprised at the small blonde who'd appeared out of nowhere and was now grinning from ear to ear and talking at Bill a mile a minute, turning her around and grabbing her shoulders excitedly. Then it's Heather's turn and Osgood's and they're all thoroughly confused and there are three more people in front of them now who had followed the blonde and seem just as confused as they are.
"Er, Doc?" Says the older one, seeming somewhat troubled.
"Yeah?" The woman responds spinning on her heel, still grinning just as wide as when she'd discovered them.
Osgood's mind begins to click into gear again.
Doc?
"I don't think they know you." The man says, frowning.
The blonde- Doc apparently- turns back to look at Osgood, Bill and Heather and frowns for a millisecond before the smile is back on and she's laughing, eyes squeezed shut and hand extended out towards them.
"Ah- I forgot! It's been a while!" She says, "New body. I'm the Doctor."
Hope you've enjoyed! That seems a nice enough place to leave it so thank you for reading!
