Today was one of those days.

Tifa, Vincent, and me went back to the eyeball planet. I'm a little more used to that now. Vincent seemed a little shocked, and wondered out loud if a mad scientist did this. It's a good question, honestly. How else do you end up with eyeball trees and fruits? It's better not to think too much about it.

After the initial surprise wore off we headed into that cave we had seen last time. Sure enough, there was tar and oil. The tar is some rancid crap your boots sink into, but the oil is something we can use, and there's a lot of ore hiding down here. We just have to watch our step. I said as much, but not five seconds later who loses their balance and falls twenty feet into the sticky black sludge below?

Me. It had to be me.

I got stuck from the waist down. Fortunately it didn't get into my sheath right away, so I was able to fend off creatures as Tifa and Vincent carefully scaled down. I...may have splattered tar everywhere. Including my hair. It was just a mistake coming down there. Tifa carefully used her matter manipulator around me, then I stretched my legs apart as black goo tried to keep them together. My pants were ruined, and I'm salvaging my boots still. They told me to beam home(Tifa pushed the teleporter button on me), and they spent the next few hours harvesting what they could while I tried to remove as much tar as I could from my skin and hair. I was worried I was gonna temporarily lose my spikes.

Well, we had to trim one, sad to say. At least the kids thought it was funny.

I ended up trying to make dinner. Still isn't my thing, the whole cooking bit, but a roast chicken isn't that hard when Marlene tells you what to do. Tifa was surprised when she got home. It was ready by the time she got out of the shower. Denzel helped too, of course. He cooked the veggies. What does Tifa call it? Sauteing? I think that's right.

Everything turned out pretty well. There was a good ore haul and lots of oil, and we can sell what we don't need to that weird penguin engineer that seems rather interested in mechs. Hm, I wonder about mechs. That might be really useful on a planet with tar covering it. I'll ask about it.

Anyway, until next time...
