Prologue - A Misleading Coronation
"Mufasa's death was a terrible tragedy," Scar solemnly eulogized one night on Pride Rock. "For me, it is a deep, personal loss." Most of the other lions and lionesses of the pride hung their heads, with one exception. "So it is with a heavy heart that I assume the throne." A group of shadows had formed behind him. "Yet," he continued, "out of the ashes of this tragedy, we shall reach the dawning of a new era..." He leaped from rock to rock, to join the owners of the shadows, a pack of hyenas. "In which lion and hyena join together, in a great and glorious future!"
Simba, Mufasa's son, who had become a fully grown lion, was confused and acting a bit suspicious.
"Lion and hyena?" he repeated in thought. "Something's not right."
