"Why?" reproach smudges his innocent, childish voice; crying threatens to drown his words.
"Why, Tien?"
His companion, tall and unshakable as stone, raises his shaven head to the starry sky: his three eyes barely flicking; trained as an assassin, he betrays no emotion.
Silence.
Silence: distant, uncomfortable, icy as the glacial winds. They known each other, as no one else ever will; yet some doors remain closed, unreachable….
"Why did you do the same, just like with InoShikaCho?"
The child of cadaveric pallor, infinitely loyal, sows the untouchable question: what dwells in the abyss of Tien's heart.
"If she loves us ..."
The celestial vault over the darkest forest, unmistakably clear away from all civilization: both humans, insignificant amidst a sea of stars.
"If she loves you ..."
Once companions, accomplices, friends, brothers; both even, equal, side by side: corn over the fire, a volleyball rematch, laughs and jokes under the summer's sun ...
Time, please stop!
Now, adult and child, father and son; both uneven, unequal, divergent. Chiaotzu and Tien: eternal youth, fleeting mortality!
Time, please take us back!
